  1. On the 1-to-10 scale of clusterfuckery (1 being your regular common not-oversold PO, 10 being Pearl Jam's "Mystery Vinyl" sale on Saturday that crashed servers for 40 minutes)... I'd say a 6. MAAAAAYBE a 7. That PJ sale. OOF.
  2. If it's Boys & Girls, I got 2 in my cart because of how slow the site was running. I didn't want to risk changing the amounts and losing everything, so I checked out with both. In theory there SHOULD be an extra copy going back in stock, but I'll be damned if I know when that happens...
  3. DAMMIT. Lost The Basement Tapes during the 15 min it took to check out. Ah well. If everything else goes through I'm be alright.
  4. Trying to decide if this is more or less painful than the clusterf**k that was Pearl Jam's "Mystery Vinyl sale" on Saturday.
  5. A lot of folks were hunting that PBTT 7"... Discogs seller has it for reasonable ($12.99) price.
  6. ^^ Pretty sure he was at a record store that only allowed customers to buy one copy of an item... You know, like almost every single RSD record store ever.
  7. I would say definitely wait a few days for WNTTM. My local store STILL had copies last night and I was lucky enough to snag one (made up for missing the RHP box, I guess). But the owner said most orders got delayed... He only got stock in time for RSD because he ordered direct from the label. He was thinking his other distributor order would probably show this week... Which would mean other stores would also be getting their stock this week, and without the RSD rush. So they might put them online or you could easily drive/call around and see if a local store is stocking it.
  8. That Pianos goes for... $30 maybe? You're only $270 away from a Deja!!
  9. 4AD told all their US stores that if they received their shipment in time (which was most of them), they should sell it early for RSD. Because, apparently, they hadn't fucked us fans QUITE hard enough yet. My store got 1 copy. First person was lining up at 7 PM last night.
  10. I would say start by offering $100 as a PayPal "gift" and MAAAAAAYBE someone might take pity on you. I mean, it's nice when people talk about "good record karma" and all, but it's kinda ridiculous to think that someone is gonna pass up $150+ by NOT selling a valuable item to a stranger on the Internet... Just to sell the same item for cost to a DIFFERENT stranger on the Internet... Because of a VC post.
  11. That's amazing, considering... Basically the ONLY stores that got any kind of quantity were the ones with proven track records of ordering (and selling) large quantities of RSD stock in years past. Case in point: My tiny shop didn't get any BN, although he ordered some. Ditto Mark Kozelek and the RHP box set (which were the items I really wanted, so he kinda blew my plans). He still had 60 people out front before he opened. The bigger store in town got almost 15 BNs... Plus Elvis 78, Kozelek, Real Friends, etc etc. (And ONE RHP set.) Line was almost 300 people at 8 AM. I'm just saying... I know of a couple tiny stores in BF country that would have no line on RSD... But their entire stock would be White Stripes and maybe some Springsteen reissues. Nothing you won't be able to find online below cost by next week. For a store with no business to score THE most desirable RSD product of 2015 is like finding a unicorn in the wild.
  12. After seeing those pics, I'm glad I slept in. Totally happy with my regular PO coming in a few weeks. Kudos to those who got the die-cut tho!
  13. Well at least we know where all the US copies wound up.... I dunno. I REALLY thought there would be another online store getting copies besides Bullmoose. Figures theirs was the one PO that sold out before I could get to it.
  14. Best Buy has confirmed they are shipping out to the lucky few who actually POed there. (Not the $14.99 mislabel... The real $160 one.) Also, BB at $159.99 isn't really the cheapest price.
  15. Kudos to everyone who won the "RSD box set lottery." I think I set my own dubious record... 7 different preorders at 7 different sites (most within the first 20 min of the PO going up)... And it's looking like every single site is gonna cancel with NO actual copies in stock. Meanwhile, Amazon (which has NEVER once come through on any sort of "limited" PO for me) has plenty of copies to ship, along with that great music lover's mecca Best Buy. On the plus side, my local store got in one copy. (And I asked him to hold it for me if it actually came in, way back during the initial 4AD PO clusterfuck.) On the downside... As per 4AD's request, he's selling it for RSD. So unless I camp out tonight, that one's gone too. Sorry to vent and I know the black vinyl copies are coming (eventually), but this entire situation seems like it was designed explicitly to make me despise every fiber of 4AD and their "distribution system."
  16. That came out in 2008. It sounded AWFUL. Just pressing something at 45 RPM doesn't make it good. Get the original Elektra... That sounds about as good as you can possibly get for a reasonable amount of money. (There WAS a 2XLP pressing from Music For Nations back in the day... Supposedly those are the best available presses out there. Not cheap on Discogs but it might be worth it. Don't get the new reissues unless it's Black Album or later.)
  17. I've heard "limited to 5000 copies." Which isn't remotely the same thing when it comes to Brand New. Of course that could've just been a rumor. Carry on then.
  18. Well that makes sense, since there's not a record store more indie than Best Buy.
  19. That's a hell of a local store that can pull down more copies than Amazon, CD Universe, Barnes & Noble, and Acoustic Sounds combined. (But apparently not Best Buy.)
  20. So do these "new" Parlophones compare to the US Capitol "Vault" presses (AKA bad) or the original Parlophones (AKA good)? That's the million dollar question. It does seem a bit silly that people are trying to order "cheap" copies of the overseas version, not knowing if it's remotely different from the copies they can pick up for under $20 in America.
  21. I agree that people are overreacting... But at the same time, it's laughable to think this box set will be "widespread" in the coming months. I doubt you ever see one sell secondhand for under $250. The black vinyl is at least a nice consolation prize. I'm hoping it's cheap and that 4AD releases them sooner rather than later.
  22. Thanks as well for the Acoustic Sounds link. They're usually very good with orders, but we'll see... If they can't come through on RHP, I'm not sure how they'll do with this. Weird they took out Riff Raff. Is it a 10" or a 12" reissue? Plenty of space for both missing tracks with the latter.
  23. I actually have #998 and #999, which is... Something. I've kept the #998 sealed for a while. I guess one day it could go for money.
