  1. So it's just a straight repress of this, right? Same blue color too. Weird they're promoting it like it's some brand new pressing. https://www.discogs.com/Porcupine-Tree-Fear-Of-A-Blank-Planet/release/9071157 I think I'll hang onto my first run numbered box set on blue/black vinyl with the complete tracklist.... WAHAHA....
  2. Based on the last six RSDs, it will not be hard to find that Doors album in the aftermarket.
  3. Ah yeah, I forgot about the Fugees 7"... I guess that was extra incentive. I wouldn't say the Weezer was "significantly" cheaper... If you were joining just for that month, you were paying $27 for the record, whereas the MoFi varies from $30-35 (and sometimes less if you find a deal, I got mine for $25). And I'm sure most Weezer fans were like me and jumped on the MoFi's early, assuming they'd eventually sell out (nightmare flashback to Sea Change). And yet here we are, many years and 18,000 "limited numbered editions" later..... I guess my point with most VMP AoTM selections is they have several "incentives" to appeal to diehards (unique variant, pop-up gatefold, alternate cover art for Z).... But most said diehards will have already purchased the release in question. So it's more a "do I want to drop $27 to buy this record again in a slightly more unique version" argument.
  4. I prefer that UNKLE record too (one of the best things Shadow did after Entroducing) but here's the difference: --Psyence Fiction has been easily available on vinyl since its release. I grabbed a copy for under $20 some years back. It's... OK, sound-wise. --Demon Days has been OOP for a decade, and regularly sells for $150 and up. The fact that VMP got exclusive rights to an in-demand OOP title for the first time in their history is the reason they sold out of subs in less than a day. Simple as that. Others say, "But what about the Fugees/Weezer?" Well, both of those titles had already been repressed and were easy to find (the Weezer in multiple versions!) so VMP's only "hook" was cool colors. Demon Days could've been ordinary black and demand wouldn't have changed one iota.
  5. EDIT: Well damn. Who knew?? Quoting myself above for posterity.
  6. I'd wait a couple months for the prices to jump, then die down. It's at least a 10,000 press... You should be OK.
  7. Let the record show you don't need to PM me or ask me for my link. It's right there in the signature. It's free money. Have at it!!!
  8. It's either a glitch or VMP really did pull the 1-month option. I mean, they already know their pressing run number. (Even though they won't announce it publicly.) If the powers-that-be see that they're, say, 80% sold out within half a day of the announcement, you can bet they're gonna eliminate the cheapest option for this month. If the 3-month option disappears too, you know this thing is a sellout and they're probably gonna cap subscriptions for the first time ever.
  9. Is the VMP Odelay better, worse, or the same as the Bong Load Odelay? It's kind of a toss-up for me in terms of the colors... But the Bong Load is already going for some $$ now, so I could easily unload it if the VMP is better mastering.
  10. Seconding this. I bought the green and grey pressings together (2nd press)... Green was very noisy, grey was decent. But definite room for improvement just on the "use better quality vinyl" scale.
  11. In fairness, a couple years ago the entire BFF and BF discography was OOP on vinyl. Now we have WAEA, Rockin The Suburbs, Reinhold Messner, and Silverman. Live In Perth is coming for RSD. Way To Normal is technically OOP, but copies don't go for that much. The only truly "missing" titles are Ben Folds Live (still very expensive) and Ben Folds Five S/T. (The 2011 Plain repress doesn't count, because it was awful... and anyway it's OOP now too.) I'd personally like to see Sunnyspeedgraphic issued on vinyl for the first time, or (even better) just release all 3 EPs in one 3X12" set at 45 RPM.
  12. Aha. Last time I joined the store was members-only all the time. I only did it for one month but I came out pretty good... Got the yellow vinyl of Evil Empire before it sold out and my AoTM was MMJ's Z... which looks to be sold out now too. VMP seems to work best if you time your subscriptions correctly.
  13. But what I'm saying is there's nothing "exclusive" about the curated releases. You don't have to be a member of VMP to buy a Pixies reissue that's been available on Amazon and elsewhere for close to 10 years. Maybe it's a "better price" than online but if you look you could find it cheaper. I don't mind them highlighting notable albums, but don't call them "exclusives." The colored FJM that sold out in half a day? THAT is an exclusive.
  14. For all this talk about Fugees and Weezer being AoTM that sold out.... I'm looking at the store right now and they're both still available? Also, not sure why some of these things are "Member Exclusives." Pretty sure you can buy that Bob Dylan Albert Hall album or Pixies "Come On Pilgrim" anywhere on line, seeing how neither is a unique colored pressing.
  15. Well, I used the code from erikness, so I appreciate the free money! Kinda amazing VMP got the exclusive rights to repress this! I see no issues with everyone passing along the savings (I refuse to say "Pay It Forward").... So if you wanna use my code, feel free. I'm definitely grabbing that National rainbow splatter. http://fbuy.me/fgnA9 EDIT: Sorry, posted the link before changing my sig.
  16. Sarcastic about SRC's quality customer service?? Or sarcastic about liking the first Gin Blossoms record? If it's the latter... Dude, you're on a forum where the first page has people getting excited about new releases from New Found Glory and Panic At The Disco. In 2017.
  17. When Best Buy was having their crazy vinyl deals a few years back, they were selling the AB box for $60 I think. I made a calculated decision that they were probably never gonna release a "cheap" version of AB anytime soon and pulled the trigger. Pressing was great and of course the package is top-notch. Well worth the $60, which is cheaper than a used OP. Plus I got the remixes on 2XLP 45 RPM blue vinyl, which is... Eh. They really missed an opportunity by not putting the B-sides on wax instead.
  18. Literally mentioned in 3 of the 4 posts directly above yours....
  19. Time to get that hope back! https://www.amazon.com/Songs-Music-Motion-Picture-Vinyl/dp/B06X1B2JST/ref=sr_1_1_twi_lp__3?ie=UTF8&qid=1488483775&sr=8-1&keywords=petty+she's+the+one+vinyl
  20. The 45 RPM is a pain since you have to flip records every two songs, but I can confirm it sounds like a truckload of dinosaurs coming at ya. (That's a good thing.) I bought most of the 45 RPMs dirt cheap and sold them all later when the prices skyrocketed and I realized SQ was garbage... except for TBA. I have Elektra originals of RTL, MOP, and AJFA now. (FYI, the OP Elektra of AJFA is probably the best that album will ever sound... Definitely worth the money if you find one in good shape.)
  21. I really like Old Ramon... and actually saw him on that tour. (Was that the last time Kozelek played with a full band?) But I'd put Ocean Beach and Roller Coaster ahead of it, just for personal preference. It's probably tied for third with Blue Guitar. The amazing thing at the time was that Ghosts came out of nowhere. RHP was caught in label limbo... MK put out a couple solo EPs that were mostly AC/DC covers (with a couple John Denver covers for spice)... Sub Pop finally releases Old Ramon and RHP promptly break up after the tour... And then Mark randomly announces a new project, on a tiny label no less. For a guy who recorded for 4AD, Island, and Sub Pop, putting out an album on "Jetset Records" felt like a huge step backwards. And then we actually HEARD Ghosts... And damn, it was pretty much perfect. Couldn't wait for the follow-up. And then, Koz being Koz, he never remotely returned to the sound of that record again.
  22. Possibly controversial argument: Ghosts is better than any RHP release (even Roller Coaster and Ocean Beach).... But every SKM release after Ghosts is worse than any RHP release. And no I won't sell you my copy of Ghosts I bought for $12 back in the day.
  23. Not to look that gift horse in the mouth, but the SSP record is like $10 including shipping on Amazon right now. So if you miss the $8 version on eBay, there are options. Good luck on refreshing! The guy seems to have a lot of these. Must've fallen off a truck....
  24. Thanks for the tip. Snagged Ryan and DOTD from this guy. Again, hope they do ship!
