  1. Since mastering details are still scarce, some FYI on other pressings: --The Analogue Productions 2X45RPM press of AEAA sounds amazing... Blows away the OP. Pretty sure it was all-analog-mastered too. If you really like this album, $50 is worth it. --Unless something happened recently, Adam confirmed the master tapes for RTS have been lost. So this new pressing can't be AAA like the OP. I'm not saying pay $150 for the OP, but I suspect prices will drop now... and again, if you love that album, it might be worth the extra $$. I actually bought this new back in the day and can confirm the SQ is fantastic and the packaging is stellar too. Seems like they actually sequenced the album with vinyl in mind, which was unheard of back in 1996. If you're more of a casual fan or on a budget, these new pressings should be OK. They just won't be the best ones out there. Mastering from hi-res digital can sound great if done properly... or it can sound like the new reissues of the Black Crowes or the first three Pearl Jam records.
  2. Because Hard Candy was still released through DGC/Geffen/Interscope, while the newer (crappier) albums are the Crows doing it themselves. It's much easier to release vinyl when you're doing self-releases, rather than trying to work out the rights with a giant corporation. Hopefully sales of these two go well so they press TDL (which I really need) and Hard Candy (which I don't, but it's still far better than anything they've done since).
  3. Eh, I saw both Peter Hook and the current NO play live within 6 months of each other back in... 2015? They were both really solid. NO isn't doing front-to-back albums, but their setlist was heavy on old songs, including quite a few JD ones. Hooky did an "opening set" of just NO songs, then the set proper was both JD studio albums front-to-back. So he beat NO for setlists alone, but his voice doesn't really suit the Bernard material.... He does much better with the Curtis vocals. The ideal combo for me would be the Peter Hook setlists... with Bernard Sumner singing lead on the NO stuff. (Which obviously won't ever happen.)
  4. This board is still talking about Marilyn Manson, AFI, and Hopesfall... and that's just the first 2 pages. You'll be alright if it's July and people are still talking about one of the best bands to come down the pike in ages. If not, I'm sure Hot Topic has some nice colored vinyl from several dozen Warped Tour side acts.

  6. I know as a good Car Seat Headrest fan I'm supposed to at least tolerate these guys now, but.... Just...... Can't.
  7. I wouldn't dismiss Cameron Crowe outright: Say Anything is a great movie (and probably the defacto Jon Cusack performance)... and if you're a music fan (especially of 70s rock) who doesn't like Almost Famous, I would question your values a little. BUT... Everything else he's directed is various shades of disappointing, ranging from slightly (Jerry MacGuire) to extremely (last couple movies, Roadies TV show). I want to support the guy, but it's tough. Also: PearlJamTwenty is very good, as is Fast Times At Ridgemont High (he wrote the screenplay).
  8. I did buy all their Bon Iver colored reissues... I think they're all sold out now and going for $$. (Not Pearl Jam Ten coke bottle money. Just money.)
  9. It's on the Deviations set. Which makes more sense. Doing an exact replica of the original Fragile 3XLP set... and then adding Appendage... defeats the purpose of doing an exact replica of the original 3XLP set.
  10. People were probably praising the KG cut of TDS on its own... I doubt many folks own the original UK for comparison. Ditto an OP of The Fragile... Based on your reviews, they should just reuse the original metals, but it sounds like they're doing fresh masters of all these. I did think the KG TDS sounds much better than both existing vinyl reissues of PHM (I've never owned an original of that either). And comparable to With Teeth and HM (the only other NIN I own), so that's probably where the praise comes from.
  11. Thanks for the tip... Grabbed a DVD for my folks and the brand-new reissue of Floyd's Animals was like $17 & change (with free shipping!)....
  12. Did they exist in the 90s? Yes. Did they have any songs you actually heard and hated in the 90s? No. They didn't become Truly Annoying until 2001.
  13. Get your facts right. Everyone knows Creed was the Nickelback of the 90s.
  14. Yup. I'm pretty baffled myself about the point of buying an illegitimate bootleg release... when the official version is available everywhere. And sounds better. And costs $10 less. Pretty colors????
  15. Never heard the words "good sound quality" associated with a bootleg pressing, but if you absolutely positively do NOT want to give the band any money for their recordings, I guess buying this works. https://www.discogs.com/Pearl-Jam-Vs/release/8450670
  16. Not sure if everyone on this thread knows what lo-fi is (PORTISHEAD?!?!?)..... But if your tastes skew indie, check out Car Seat Headrest. https://carseatheadrest.bandcamp.com/music The new album on Matador is a lot more "polished" but still has that nice rock band grit. But his early self-released albums are quite good... and VERY lo-fi. Almost to the point where I wish he'd go back and re-record some of them with a bigger budget, but if you like GBV or Daniel Johnston, this is right down your alley. Best lo-fi albums are Twin Fantasy and Nervous Young Man. YMMV.
  17. As someone who has the ORIGINAL colored versions of both of these, this kinda bugs me in an insane way.
  18. NIIIIICE find. Just ordered. Free shipping too so actually a better deal than Bong Load. I still might hit my local record store anyway tho....
  19. Well he's definitely got ho's in different area codes.
