Aych got a reaction from WAXXX in What are you Top 10 albums of all time?
After much deliberation, three self-titled albums, and only one album that breaks the five years rule (and two others that are almost five years old), I think I've got my list. In whichever order I wrote them down:

    FACT - FACT
    Relient K - MMHMM
    Dance Gavin Dance - Happiness
Beyoncé - Beyoncé (a.k.a. the rule breaker)
    Oneohtrix Point Never - Replica
The Avalanches - Since I Left You
    Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
    Sepalcure - Sepalcure
    Passion Pit - Manners
    Imogen Heap - Ellipse

    Honorable Mentions:
    The Killers - Hot Fuss
My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade (yes, really)
Anamanaguchi - Endless Fantasy (technically another rule breaker)
Underoath - Lost in the Sound of Separation
    Mae - The Everglow
    High Contrast - High Society
    Aesop Rock - Labor Days
    Baths - Cerulean

While I was writing these down, I definitely noticed that every single one of them were released after 2000, even my honorable mentions, which I thought was interesting. There's no doubt that I love plenty of older artists and albums, and I do respect the classics, but I'd assume it has something to do with the fact that a lot of the music I grew up listening to was completely unmemorable contemporary Christian vocal groups and dad rock albums that never really my caught my attention. I basically started my music taste from scratch when I was 13 or 14 or so; my friends were listening to pop punk, emo, metalcore, etc. and I'd just discovered drum 'n bass on an XM radio channel, so it sort of went from there.

Okay, since I've already opened mine, I figured I'd go ahead and post a photo of it!

    Here's what all I got:

Beach House - Depression Cherry (Loser Edition, clear vinyl in velvet sleeve)
    Funko POP TV Leela figurine
a really rad 50th anniversary Looney Tunes cup from 1990
    some awesome stickers!
a note with some info about the selection and some clues as to their identity.

I absolutely love everything that I got, and honestly, the amount of thought that went into each part of the box made each thing better to me. Kudos on the Leela figure, I very recently started collecting vinyl figures to display on my bookshelf AND she's actually my fav Futurama character, so that's a win-win. And yes, I did mean that I collect drinking glasses and mugs from the 80s and 90s, so you were spot-on, haha. Also! I'd been meaning to pick that Beach House album up, so that was a very pleasant surprise!

Also, based on the clues in the note, (from Michigan, same age, hangs out in a lot of the pop punk/ska threads, etc.), I'm almost positive that the person responsible for this lovely package was SmikeX13!

one of my favorite comedian's new LP BOX set is available below and it's a real head scratcher..

    https://megamart.subpop.com/releases/eugene_mirman/im_sorry_youre_welcome

About the robe- It’s a white velour bathrobe with the album art embroidered on the back in gold thread. An MP3 player is included which has been pre-loaded with all 9 volumes of the album and installed in a special, tailor-made pocket by our finest dressmakers.

About the chair- It’s a mid-century modern style chair that is being lovingly reupholstered and customized to house the included MP3 player which has been pre-loaded with the entire aforementioned Eugene Mirman album. The chair is also being wired with a pair of embedded speakers. This chair represents the culmination of centuries of progress in creative audio delivery and is the ultimate way for the modern listener to experience this glorious comedy album. This item is currently being made in the extraordinarily limited quantity of 1. Drop us a line though, we might be convinced to make another…

-Eugene     I have wanted to make this album for a long time. I first thought of the idea about 10 years ago, originally as a 100-CD album (Somebody said I’d only have to sell 5,000 copies to have a Gold record! Take that, Peter Frampton!). Basically, what began as a half-joke, half-dream that I’d sometimes mention to friends, morphed into a much-more feasible idea of a 10-disc album (I think of things in terms of CDs because I grew up in the 90s, just like 80-year-olds still refer to radio as “The Invisible President”). I decided to start working on it. In general, I make a lot of lists. So, I created a document on my desktop called, “The Box Set CD Blueprint,” (even though there won’t be a CD version of this album, because only Neil Young has a CD player and he won’t let anyone borrow it) and began coming up with ideas for discs. Here are some of them:

    1) Terrible sound FX trying to actually sound like the thing with my mouth
    2) Me crying for 45 minutes
    3) Ringtones
    4) Whispering secrets to my dick
    5) A comedy album to be played for different animals (cats, dogs, horses, goats, birds and even an alligator!)
    6) Me yelling at inanimate objects
    7) Talking over ocean sounds and music helping someone relax/go to sleep (recorded live at an ocean)
    8) Songs
    9) Words to Make Love To — Seven Inspirational Sex Tracks
    10) Field recording of going hunting for the first time
    (And many more…)

Some of these ideas made it onto this album, some morphed into something similar and some turned out to be funny-sounding, but less-practical once I started thinking about what it would be. Though who knows, maybe once I Goggle cat and horse brain stuff (I meant to write Google, but laughed at Goggle and left it), I’ll figure out a way to pretend earnestly that I’m telling them jokes? I just looked up which animals can laugh and it looks promising — non-human primates, rats and dogs maybe laugh, but it’s unclear if they have a form of a sense of humor. I guess I’ll show a rat the movie Pixels and see what he thinks? (Side note — I think people would be much more forgiving to Adam Sandler if he just admitted he was now making movies only for animals).

Oh, also, the first disc contains a full set of live standup recorded at Columbia City Theater in Seattle, WA June 6, 7, & 8, 2014.

    I’m sorry. You’re welcome.

    Sincerely,
    Eugene Mirman

Love love love stand-up. Been listening to it for most of my life, even if my first few stand-up albums were all Christian comedians from the late 90's and early 2000's that my dad liked. My current faves are probably Maria Bamford (probably my all-time fave), Jen Kirkman, Eugene Mirman, Kumail Nanjiani, John Mulaney, Hannibal Buress, Tig Notaro, and Nick Thune.

I've also been working on a stand-up set on and off for a few months now, putting some final touches on it before I get on stage for the first time. A few friends of mine host comedy nights around town a couple times a week, and after having been to most of them, the cool supportive crowds have me feeling not as nervous as if I were starting out somewhere in Atlanta. Not sure why, I just feel like they're much more critical of new comedians there.

Honestly, I don't hate it. I actually kind of like it. Would I buy one? Probably not, but it's still a cool concept. It's interesting to look at, I can appreciate the amount of time they've apparently put into designing it, and it seems like they've used decent-quality materials to build it. Not an audiophile table by any stretch of the imagination, but audiophiles aren't their target market anyway, so take that for what it's worth, I guess.

Also, from the videos I watched on the Kickstarter page, it looks like the platter isn't completely vertical; it rests at a slight angle, which makes a lot more sense design-wise.

(Side note, it'd make taking Instagram pictures a hell of a lot easier. Obviously I'm sold on that alone.)

This. My store opens at 10:00; I'm there at 8:30 every year, and I'm almost always 7th or 8th in line. Well, usually the first ten or twelve people who get there just stand around talking in a blob but then once more people get there, we sort ourselves single file based on who got there when. It's surprisingly chill.

Aych got a reaction from Dominic_ in FS: One rare record at a time. This time: TDWP - With Roots Above
I'm being let go from my job on the 30th (which also happens to be my birthday; what a great B-day present, right?), and as of right now, I have nothing lined up after that. I have enough left in my savings to keep me going for about a month, maybe two if I starve myself, but that's it. In honor of this momentous occasion, I'm selling some of the rarer records in my collection to keep my head above the water until I'm gainfully employed. Or until I win the lottery, whichever comes first.

Now that that's out of the way, time for some ground rules: Since I have a very limited number of mailers, I'll list one record at a time, and will accept offers for a few days. Best offer gets the record. Serious offers only, no trades. PayPal only; no gifting, buyer pays fees. International offers will be considered, if the price is right (offer in USD, please).

Also, please don't offer if you have less than 100 posts or two positive feedback scores as a buyer, or a decent amount of feedback from another site. With the influx of new people from the RSD frenzy, I want to make sure I'm doing business with a reputable buyer.

    Pretty straightforward, right?

    ------------

This time, it's my copy of The Devil Wears Prada - With Roots Above and Branches Below on purple vinyl! Played two, maybe three times total. Both sides and the bottom of the inner sleeve have been split, but from what I gather, that isn't uncommon with this particular album and the record still stays inside. The outer sleeve is in very good condition, with minor shelf wear.

I'm gonna take offers on this until next Monday (May 4) at midnight EST. Also, I can post a picture or two if y'all want to see. Only reason I didn't already is because I...well, I didn't think about it before updating the post, honestly.
