  1. I dont have the 2LP version because the second LP with the remixes seemed pointless. The 1LP indeed sounds very good (alright, perfect), but the surface noise on the quieter parts is just too much at times.
  2. I have read that the recent Deutsche Grammophon records have a lot of surface noise. I have Recomposed Four Seasons by Richter, two copies, ordered from different places, and after cleaning with Okki Nokki the surface noise is still there. Hopefully this reissue is better. The Fat Cat Memoryhouse reissue was also noisy (like we have already covered in that other thread).
  3. Usually there are always vinyl rips out there, so that is a pretty good indication (hell, sometimes even youtube videos with a spinning record and a microphone can give you a good idea how well cut/pressed album is).
  4. So, is this really a replica of the original or not? I have already ordered mine, but the wait is killing me.
  5. This has to be a reissue, since it seems to be available everywhere (at least in Europe). I just ordered a copy from my local record store (they said its in their catalog and can be ordered). jpc.de says that the release date was yesterday: https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/poprock/detail/-/art/Beck-Modern-Guilt/hnum/4484968 Couple of years ago there was a reissue of Death - Symbolic on Roadrunner Records. It looked exactly like the OOP variant (same deadwax also), the only difference was that the sleeve was about 1/20 inch wider, you could only notice that if you had the OOP variant to compare with.
  6. Is there a sticker on the front? And deadwax info is the same?
  7. The regular edition sounds horrible, one of the worst sounding pressings I have ever heard. Cant believe that Relapse still has the balls to market this as their "greatest release" ever.
  8. Bought myself recently Okki Nokki and I have since cleaned many records (which were a lot noisier than the 2009 DMM Sigur Ros records - same type of noise, new records) with great success. So a proper deep wet cleaning can do wonders. I will finally deep-clean my DMM Sigur Ros versions this weekend and will let you know.
  9. I dont have any recent releases from RCA, but usually every record company uses the same cutting engineers and pressing plants for years, so that is a very good indicator. RCA is related with Sony (from Wikipedia) and Sony Legacy releases are very well done, so I hope for the best - if the album is indeed recorded analog (as mentioned in this thread). The mp3-s Im having in my computer now are pretty bad though (mastering wise - some of the songs are pretty brickwalled).
  10. The clear press is very well done, bought it on the release day.
  11. Is this a straight reissue (exact same cut and record weight etc)? I remember seeing this one in the stores years ago (box type of thing), but didnt buy it at the time, should have.
  12. The problem Im having with Once More... is the mastering. The CD is practically unlistenable (same league as Death Magnetic), the vinyl is a lot better, but all the solo sections are still distorted and the last song on each side also (the last couple of minutes on each side).
  13. If these arent the 45 rpm versions, this reissue campaign is completely pointless, since the 33rpm versions are already easily available.

  15. Received my copy today, the artwork is kind of underwhelming, btw, this has been cut by Chris Bellman (CB is in the deadwax), so its pretty much the best you can get pressing wise - one of the best cutting engineers in the world and the best pressing plant (Pallas in Germany). That said, my copy is pretty warped, haha. Bad luck, I guess.
  16. This has been like that for all the latest Sigur Ros releases - Inni and Valtari (probably Kveikur too).
  17. How do these reisses actually sound (whats in the deadwax)? Century Media releases the shittiest sounding vinyl. Just listened to a vinyl rip of the new Arch Enemy, absolutely terrible - distorts throughout.
  18. Whats so special about that RSD press? I have the recent Prophecy repress and Listenable repress of The Way Of All Flesh and Listenable variant is better (better quality sleeve, better vinyl press, better sound - the Prophecy variant sounded somewhat distorted throghout).
