It would be ace if more independents just boycotted RSD completely. I'm totally on board with other events like instores or discounts or whatever, it's the sooper-limited 25 copies pressed only of a Jack White curated Earliest Known Farts of the Blues Greats that fucking ruin it.

It is more than that though. I do get kind of sour if there is an interesting RSD release, which means if I do want it for a reasonable (lol) price I have to queue up for a store I visit every week anyway.
 
Also, I don't know if this is down to the individual store, but when there were a couple of releases I wanted last year, I asked the shop if they could reserve them for me as I was out of town at the time. They said they were "not allowed" to do this, and I'd have to go in on the day. Granted, this might have just been the particular store being difficult, but I have heard of a few people having similar experiences in different places. Just seems counter-intuitive to the whole "independent store" idea. Can you reserve items for me? = guaranteed sale plus investment in your customers.

This whole notion of "beard pride". I don't know how prevalent this is around the world but over the last year or so I'm seeing all the facebook shit like "A REAL MAN grows a BEARD!" or "A beard is a sign of class and dignity" or "Yes, you can touch my beard!" or, the worst - "Date a man with a beard - growing a beard takes patience - the patience needed to put up with your bullshit!"
 
Fuck all that horrible shit. I grew a beard because I'm lazy and my girlfriend likes it. There's nothing fucking noble about it, it's just hair I keep on my face.

Those literally mean the same thing. Feminism = equality of the sexes. Get off the idea that Feminism = women vs men. Just because it's got "fem" in it doesn't mean its excluding everyone who isn't a woman. You don't see women flipping out about he fact that the human race is called MAN kind. Good lord.
 
Also, when it comes to the term "female," it all comes down to the way the word has morphed over the years. Similarly to the word "bitch." If you want to use the dictionary, fine. Bitch = a female dog. But as time went on, it turned into meaning a. A weak individual (usually a guy) and b. A mean/rude woman.  Funny how that works, right?  Well, "female" has taken on a similar evolution. It all comes down to the fact that the connotation used and the context surrounding the use of the word has turned negative. "Females be tripping" or "Females are always trying to bring their men down" or "I'm gonna try to talk to some females tonight."
 
It strips women of their identity and mashes them all together as this species that's meant to be conquered, and that's not cool.  Sure, if you said "Thyroid disease occurs in 40% of females," then obviously that's different because it is being used to state facts of the characteristics of the female sex.
 
I know this can't possibly be this hard for some of you to understand. It shouldn't require all of this explanation. If a woman says they don't like being called that, then don't call them that. Just as if your name was Robert and you didn't like being called Bobby. We all deserve the acknowledgement and the respect to be called what we'd like to be called.

The notion of a guy saying that "feminism is unattractive" (or whatever was said earlier about online dating profiles) is one of the reasons feminism exists.

This is an open letter to all those on this board who think they know what should and shouldn't be pressed and are purveyors of taste, connoisseurs of classics and keyholders of THE HOBBY. Who are you to scoff at releases that are not as needed like a Mega Man comp or a pop punk record from ten years ago? They are nostalgic releases so they don't matter? Not everything can be the standard bearers of a mighty Nirvana or Zeppelin. Why can't there be room for everything and not just for the select few they are deemed approarate for the vinyl medium. Music is subjective and love is love.

Generally, are there decent deals to be had on eBay compared to say Discogs? I hardly ever buy records on eBay anymore, due to things like this, overgrading, shipping etc.

It's pretty hard to take a good photograph of the colours. you can probably see that record one is way more gold or at least way more gold highlights against the purple. record two is much more of a solid purple but it does have some gold streaks. I actually didn't realise that the records were so different looking until I took them both out of the inners. like I said, it's hard to really get a good photo but record one looks really good - held up to the light you can really see this bright gold sheen. more pics below:

Start listening to albums that don't need unnecessarily low pressing numbers to ensure sales

The Internet, man.
We do live in an age where literally endless streams of music are available online at no cost, put there purely to be listened to. Just cos you can't buy the vinyl doesn't mean you can never hear the music. Spotify, YouTube etc. unless you're trying to find some release that was pressed in a batch of 10 only that exists nowhere else to be listened to - in which case, fuck that release, there are 100% definitely better albums to spend your time on.
