Agreed. I'm sure that's what the petition is really getting at, it's just that cassettes would most likely be dominant there.

Yes I made sure to include the title "cassettes and other media" Hell I'd be totally satisfied it were strictly titled, "Other Media" pretty sure the cassettes would still dominate it.

 

With the current set up, people are posting PO's, FS's, cassette porn photos, giveaways, solid mail days all into one giant convoluted area. Would be nice to give us some air and organization!

On behalf of VC cassette collectors, as it is much cheaper to afford, yet limited, and cool we would like to propose an official, "Cassette and Other Media" message board be created. The main reason being is that, there will be more opportunity for VCers and anon searchers of the internet a chance to sift through newly available cassettes, POs, represses, awesome finds etc on it's own instead of having to search through countless pages on the single thread, "Cassette Collective". We think there are quite a few of us that would love to participate in it. Also we believe this will help up and coming bands on cheaper DIY labels get their music out there. We feel it's all a win win situation. Thanks kindly for taking the time to read this and thanks of course for the mere consideration.

Nope I didn't. I do however assume that 16 of those 18 pages are relevant content. Which leads me to my original question...

I don't listen to cassettes. I do however read comics. And there just so happens to be a comic thread with the exact same number of pages as this one. You don't see anyone demanding mods to create a comic message board. I get it you collect something other than records and like to talk about it. But do you really need more than a thread? If so maybe it's time to start cassettecollective.com.

I don't listen to cassettes. I do however read comics. And there just so happens to be a comic thread with the exact same number of pages as this one. cassettecollective.com already exists, trust me i looked, and its not even a site that has anything to do with cassettes. and unlike comics, cassettes are also an obsolete music media form like vinyl, that many bands use as a format for their releases when vinyl is too expensive. do you preorder comics? do your comics come in unique variants? are they limited to 100 copies produced? do your favorite bands or bands you might like release comics? no i dont think so buddy. sorry if im being rude, but i dont understand how someone who doesnt have anything to do with this thread can make your kinds of input.

LOL yourself. It's obsolete in the sense that CD/MP3 format mainstay format of the music industry currently. 

 

And I'm glad you hit up google to try and prove me wrong on technicalities. I know that there are variant covers and whatnot, and that musicians are very capable of releasing their own comics. Look at Coheed and Cambria. But once you quit being a little goober about your comics, and understand that this is also a music forum not a literature forum, I'll have more sympathy for your plight.

 

And in no way does having a separate board for cassettes affect you.

We aren't trying to get a cassette forum going for our own vanity's sake. There would probably be way more people in that thread if it had its own board. The fact is, tons of people collect cassettes on VC and DF. I don't understand your reasoning in trying to stop this from happening other than that you want to be a prick. 

 

Hell, if every sports league can get pinned at the top, why can't cassettes get their own board?

Google was easier than typing everything out, and they're not technicalities. You asked questions and I answered them.

 

It's a music forum yes, but it specializes in vinyl. If the same bands release cassettes then talk about them in this thread the same way you're doing it right now. In no way am I trying to stop that from happening. I was simply asking if you guys thought it was really necessary to create a new board specifically for cassettes. And you seem to have taken that personal for some reason.

 

The fact that you mentioned the sports threads is interesting though... why would you not have started with requesting that it get stickied and see if the traffic increased enough to warrant the full message board? 

 

Take a step back and realize I'm not trying to kibosh anything and have a discussion. If you can convince me it could actually help you guys gain traction with the mods. Definitely better than getting defensive and telling me to "go prance around somewhere else"...
