Shell
I am not a true record collector but I have kept a box of about 45 albums from my younger days in the hopes of eventually having something of value. These albums received some water damage recently and insurance is willing to replace them if I choose to do so. I’m not sure which albums are worth replacing and which ones are not. They are about 30-40 years old. Would anyone be willing to advise which to replace and which to toss? I would really appreciate some input by those in the know. Is it OK to list them in this forum? NewOldStock
Go to Discogs.com and look up a guide value (from sales) for each one.
jhulud
VC is not a record value guide. Discogs. eBay. Etc. That's your best bet.
Shell
The current value is not so much my interest as in some guidelines as to what might be worth saving and what will never be worth anything. As I said, I'm not a collector and have no idea what to base my decision on. But I will check out Discogs. Thank you.

Sidney Crosley
The only one I can see in that pile that may be worth $20 or a touch more (depending on condition) is Buckingham Nicks. Most of the rest of those are $5 and under records, as far as I know (maybe someone else will see one or two with greater value...)

lexicondevil
You've got a dollar bin selection going there. Put the box on the curb and maybe someone can dry them out and play them. Your insurance company will give you nothing.
Shell
They were actually in a box in the attic. Our area had a freakish hail storm that put holes through the roof. Many homes in the area had hailstones coming through the ceiling and into the houses. So, lesson learned, store your attic possessions in plastic containers. One Hundred Fifty-Two
How much does insurance plan on giving you for them? $25 for the lot?
somethingvinyl
Like others have said, you've got a pretty common collection there. Buckingham Nicks is legit the only record that sells for $20-40. See what the insurance company will give you. If you bought those in the 70's, chances are you paid $2-4 a piece.
