catalinacaper
What is he doing? Giving up Peraza and Wood? and JJ and Avilan (much less important obviously). Granted they get Olivera minus the $28 mil signing bonus. It's just a bit concerning considering Olivera has had so much injury stuff lingering over his head. I like the move in terms of value - it's essentially a crapshoot as to who puts up more value in the next five seasons - Wood or Olivera. Could go either way. The Braves have enough young starting pitching depth and salary flexibility to more than fill in for Wood. It's just strange to me that they chose to move him rather than Teheran or one of the less established guys.
catalinacaper
David Price to the Jays for Daniel Norris and Anthony Alford. Maybe some cash going the Jays way too.
catalinacaper
Could have ended that post with "Agent Scott Boras" and I would have known anything to follow was just the results of a leaky douche nossle... Amazing how fast the Cards moved on an outfielder after Holliday's injury. Impressive really.
stl_ben
Amazing how fast the Cards moved on an outfielder after Holliday's injury. Impressive really. Well all of the cards outfielders are now injured....of course the same can be said for most of the original starting players. Wait how are they still in first? tvham
David Price to the Jays for Daniel Norris and Anthony Alford. Maybe some cash going the Jays way too. Well if they Giants couldn't trade for him, I'm glad at least that he's staying in the AL (and specifically, away from the Dodgers)
sacredheart
Glad that Jays got Price and not LAD. Was worried that Dodgers might give up Urias to make a push at Price and that would make me sad.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
To #Brewers: Brett Phillips, Domingo Santana, Josh Hader, Adrian Houser.
sacredheart
I was surprised to see that Santana was still in the minors, and then checked to see that he is only 22. Phils signed him when he was 16, no wonder he has been around forever.
tvham
Giants get Mike Leake - I like the move. He should pitch great at AT&T Park, hopefully he signs a long term deal after the season and he's not just a rental.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Reds Rotation in 2014: Cueto (traded) Bailey (injured) Latos (traded) Leake (traded) Simon (traded) I dont even know who pitches for Cincy anymore
maneatingcow
To #Brewers: Brett Phillips, Domingo Santana, Josh Hader, Adrian Houser. Was glued to my phone at work last night. I'm pretty stoked about that trade. It's a deal where the Brewers are getting a ton of cost controlled year. Phillips looks like a stud and will create an amazing prospect duo with Arcia. Santana is a guy where if he can put things together can be a mid order impact bat. He actually reminds me a bit of early career Nelson Cruz, hopefully he can put it all together earlier in his career. Hader looks like at minimum a good bullpen arm and hopefully he continues to develop into more.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'd rather get young prospects near MLB than young prospects still in low A

Phillips is a stud. You guys got a great young player. I didn't want to give up so many prospects, but the reason we've been hoarding so many for the past few years is exactly so we can make moves like this one and the Kazmir trade when the time is right.
