nickz123
Here is a small one I got at Target when they were having thier back to school sales. I think I paid $12 for it. It has held up really good. The bottom shelf is too small for records though.

ericxthexred
we need another unit for vinyl collective but it costs more to ship it than the actual unit costs. if anyone wants to drive one to Denver, get in touch! It sucks that Ikea doesn't have cheaper shipping options. they just opened one in orlando, and i could snag one and then just bring it to the UPS store to ship to ya. chiefwahoo
You can't repaint plastic-coated fiberboard. It'll look absolutely horrible. If this was made of real wood you could sand it down and stain it, but come on, the shelf is only $100. Sell yours to someone nearby, go buy two matching ones. Those little drawers are pretty hot. I'ma have to buy two of those. I have some LEKMAN boxes now, which I dig. But the drawers are the hotness. It's $200. I can't see shelling out $400 and just hoping someone wants to buy my old one
chiefwahoo
I was at Ikea last weekend and they had Medium Brown. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I guess I'll check out the store first. Other than that, I may be screwed. Never thought that brown color would go away.
faith
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00045560 ^^ not as wide (sadly) as an expedit, but i htink I'll take a look at these.. maybe go to IKEA and bring an LP to check the height and stuff that would definitely fit in my room. What do you guys think?

riddle350
Those Lack ones are decent. Not as wide but should still hold records nicely.
faith
it's still 13 inches wide though... so maybe I can display records facing out along with the records that will be side by side not sure it might go down to 11 inches if you count how thick the sides are though
kurtmanner
It sucks that Ikea doesn't have cheaper shipping options. agreeed x10,000 Seriously. The $80 Expedit unit would have cost me around $210 with shipping! I was like "fuck that!" and went to the store. I'm extremely lucky to have one in New Haven only an hour away. It's always worth the drive, even if just for Swedish meatballs and lingenberry juice.
forgeagain
Ahh shit, sorry, they TOTALLY jacked those things up in price. When I bought mine like 2 years ago it was only $99 for the 4x4
athomewithkyle
I really need some type of unit so I can get these milk crates out of my room. Maybe i'll put something on my x-mas list.

ronniethebear
I wonder if 7" records could fit in here http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/07305310 The depth is only 6.75", which would mean they would stick out.
thesack18
i just went to Ikea yesterday in melbourne, and as a cabinet maker/wood machinist, id have to say most of the stuff there is very poorly made. that being said, good luck getting someone to build similar things for a cheaper price. but, you get what you pay for i guess

CHEAP! Great for the college student on a budget, as it (usually) functions well, looks reasonably cool, and is affordable. Definitely nothing created by a master craftsman. However, the Expedit gets the job done. It can support the weight of records, and does so very affordably, so A+ for that product.
