kirbypuckett
Every time I go to the mall I pop in Hot Topic to check out the clearance vinyl. I basically check the back of every record for red ink. Today I picked up the Foxboro Hot Tubs for like $5, I got to the G's and decided to look @ the back of The '59 Sound, red ink, $1.99. I asked the cashier if this was correct. They said "No, but we have to give it to you for that." SCORE!
googlemyass
then why not just bring a red pen in and mark them down yourself?
Snaggle Von Swift
then why not just bring a red pen in and mark them down yourself? a buddy of mine used to do this (maybe still does?).. worked every time.
heavyheavylowlow
Friend of mine goes to H&M all the time and swaps the clothing tags in the changing rooms, couple of days ago he got a £70 coat for £14.99, I think he's a dick for it, but that's student life for ya. Duff
i used to pull sale and clearance stickers off other items in some stores and place them on more expenisve shit i wanted to buy after i learned they had to give it to you for that price, even if someone in the store fucked up and it wasnt suppose to be marked down. Guest noeffinidea
I've definitely swapped price stickers at Best Buy before. Went to go pick up the Rush R30 DVD, and I really wanted the version that had 2 dvds and 2 cds...so I swapped the price sticker from the 2-disc version onto the 4-disc version and it totally worked, even when the price came up as the price of the 4-disc, the manager changed it to the 2-disc price....guess they were unaware of 2 versions of the release. aarondanger
I've only done that once. I got the postal service lp on red for .99 cents

daniel
The HT near me just puts 50% stickers on everything. I put one on a Crime and Stereo and felt badass, then it rang up on clearance anyway.

knealey
People used to do this when I worked at journeys, and I would just tell them no. In all honesty....what are they going to do....walk out and feel dumb.
servo
man, taking a red pen to hot topic to get cheaper stuff is totally not cool. walking out the door with 20 metallica lps under your winter coat is though
adamlikesmusic
Never stolen or ripped off a store, but when I was 11, I moved the price sticker on a CD to cover up the Parental Advisory sticker. I thought the clerk wouldn't sell it to me.
hookups96
I run a Skate shop, and think way less about a lot of people on this boards now. Sorry but changing price tags is a crime, and childish.

daniel
Mine doesn't count though, because it was on the clearance rack and I was prepared to pay the whole $8.99 that the sticker said.

desensitizedbyu
Was it just a red pen or marker? There's never clearance at mine. I don't go in that often though.

geezfools
yeah, not trying to sit in jail over the weekend for a $10 record. Especially since I know how much money I've already "stolen" from them when I found three copies of the falcon LP on legit clearance, suckers! andrew13
i always hit up their vinyl clearance. best score wans Unicornography for $2! they had about 4 there, and i got the least mangled. if i had known what it was worth, i'd have gotten them all. other than that, got new wave on clear yellow for $8.98 (50% off), Locust - New Erections for $2 clear w/ blue splatter, a couple MFATGG - Cash red for $3 for friends, and some other various things on clearance. if i had one close to me, i'd lurk it all the time, but nearest with vinyl is probably 2 hrs away. AlexH.
None of the Hot Topics in the Twin Cities have good vinyl selection. The only thing I've ever bought was Say Anything is a Real Boy for $12.
