The Animal Collective have been been keeping pretty busy writing and recording music. "Merriweather Post Pavillion" is their latest. AC are one of those bands that I just have never spent any time with. Anybody out there recommend them?

I really enjoy them.

Sung Tongs is my favorite album of theirs so I would recommend that.

So good, the album art is pretty swell too (in a mindfuckery sort of way).

sung tongs was good. "fireworks" off strawberry jam was awesome. I've only listened to this album twice, but it was pretty good.

This album is awesome and everyone's flipping their shit over it. It's already backordered from the label and Insound. I dunno how I was able to get a copy from them. Definitely buy this, sounds great on vinyl!

They had these on Amazon yesterday for something like $11.99; I think it was an accident, as it's since gone back to $22.99.

a lot of my friends were into them and i could kinda see why but ie tried and tried to like them but never could get into it until i got Person Pitch an album from Panda Bear, a member of the band. I found it a lot more accessible somehow and then went back to listen to Animal Collective and loved it.

I liked Panda Bear's Person Pitch and some of Young Prayer.

But I really can't get behind Animal Collective beyond Peacebone and the B-side to Peacebone, Safer.

it has sold out everywhere. My rep at ADA said it is being repressed. It is amazing how much hype surrounds this record.

I think it's due to the fact that with such a large fanbase and the vinyl + download coupon being released two weeks before the actual cd, people will just buy it to get it early. Good marketing on their part.

So Bill over at irockcleveland has a very very interesting post about this album and how the same guy at pitchfork reviewed the last 7 or 8 Animal Collective releases and how one man seems to be able to create a public opinion of this band.
