smailtronic
Why would you advertise this? Isn't 120 gram standard weight? http://www.interpunk.com/item.cfm?Item=164460 http://interpunk.com/item.cfm?Item=164461& Trying to impress people that don't know any better? chaps
140 gram ISH is the standard weight
smailtronic
140 gram ISH is the standard weight So they're advertising it as sub-standard? That's even more ridiculous.
suburbanargyle
I think it's a typo, pretty sure I've seen this as 180gram everywhere else.
xjustinxschwierx
i emailed my contact at Interpunk to check and / or fix that.
xjustinxschwierx
From interpunk: Justin, It is not a typo. The LP's were supposed to be on 180 gram but the pressing plant screwed up. Instead of tossing them they label is selling them. We listed them as 120 gram so our customers will not be confused as to what they are buying. Vinyl weirdoes might think it is cool (not that I don't buy vinyl). Thanks, Ryland
suburbanargyle
uhhhhhhh...that's fucked up. Are the ones that we may have preordered from VC on 120 gram? Cause that may not be worth $20 or whatever to some people. *edit* I just looked at the old posting on the VC store, and it says that the rumor was it was gonna be 180gram. But it seems like whoever pressed the record set the price as if it was a 180gram record, right?
dante3000
Hmmm...If this was actually master for 180 and pressed at 120....It's gotta sound like epic shit. If it's just a lighter vinyl, not much difference.
burntwolf
is something mastered for a vinyl weight? i wouldn't think so. i thought the heavier vinyl really only cut down on surface noise. pretty weak they are still charging for heavier vinyl though. maximumperlich
The rhino reissue of Walk Among Us is listed as 140 gram on Interpunk. That's the standard weight? I thought it was less than 140 but what do I know.

I need to get Kerplunk (so I can get the sweet children ep which goes for $100+ on eBay) so I might as well pick up 39/Smooth also.

oilandwater
Just grabbed the Lookout pressings as well. For about half the price as the re-press you really can't go wrong.
xfedaykinx
im pretty sure 140 is heavier than standard. i remember Magicbullet advertising some of their presses on Black being 140g. that being said, this is a pretty big bummer for anyone who was really looking forward to these. its gonna be thin as hell
whenicomearound
The only problem with ordering the lookout versions is that you don't get the 1,000 Hours, Slappy, and Sweet Children EPs.
burntwolf
IMO that is no great loss, esp. the Sweet Children...
tobinownlife
Wait, is the bonus 7" with Kerplunk the Sweet Children 7"? I already have this but I am just curious. That would be interesting.

whenicomearound
IMO that is no great loss, esp. the Sweet Children... That's your opinion and I'm not trying to change that. To each his own. The point I'm trying to make is that anyone of the 3 pressings (6 varients) of the original skene! records version fetch $100+ on eBay so it would be worth it if you really want that EP. wannabepunktony
If the press was supposed to be 180 gram and the plant messed up, why wouldn't you still push forward and request they do it right? I don't get that. Sure, you could keep the thinner records and sell them - I'd like to think for cheaper - but I don't see why you would do that at the cost of not putting out what the release's weight was supposed to be. Wouldn't you get a discount on the fucked up vinyl? Maybe someone at Adeline fucked up hardcore filling out the forms or whatever a person has to do to get vinyl pressed and that's why there's no 180 gram...? Speculation, wee! buddtoker
"One of the first Green Day LPs coming out this year, reissued on 120 Gram, color vinyl with a bonus, 7 inch single". Interpunk Color?
