mcm1610
I considered making a new thread about it, then realized it's not thread-worthy, buttttttttttt... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My mom's benefit was yesterday and it was a HUGE success... like... 5 times what I though it was going to be. Even with a lot of last-minute stuff going on that sucked friends out to other things and not allowing them to come, there were hundreds of people there, probably upwards of 75 baskets, and 15-20 silent auction items. We raised more money than I even came close to thinking was possible, I had no idea they brought in that much. We were stressing out beyond belief... with about 2 days left, we had about 20 baskets in our possession and were scrambling to find things to auction off. Baskets poured in even up until about 2:30 (the benefit ran from 1 to 4pm). Someone made a custom batch of 15 bottles of wine that we sold by the bottle. We auctioned off a 40th anniversary Sabres stick signed by last year's Rookie of the Year Tyler Meyers, a signed Domic Hasek stick, a game-used Jochen Hecht stick, a football signed by about 30 members of the 1991 Buffalo Bills Super Bowl team including Darrel Talley, Andre Reed, Thurman Thomas, a game ticket from "The Greatest Comeback Game" on a plaque signed by Frank Reich, custom artwork, expensive purses, and lots of other stuff. The 50-50 split alone paid out something like $460 to the winner (one of my sister's friends). We got compliments on the food, people enjoyed themselves, and I got to see people I haven't seen in years, including parents of kids I played hockey with growing up, teachers I had in high school, my babysitter (when I was 4), and people from every corner of my past life. It was amazing. I just can't believe how much it surpassed my expectations. Maybe I'm cynical / pessimistic, or maybe I just had no idea how generous people really were, but it was crazy. Guest eriathomas
@mcm1610 - Thats sounds pretty amazing, glad to hear it went well. - I don't want to go on this shitty camping trip for my buddy's bachelor party next weekend, but I am pretty much obligated to go. - Raining and yucky out, normally I like that, but it's been a gloomy few days. + Found a website with all the information I need for our group presentation tomorrow. It's crazy, it's almost like my teacher based the assigment off this site's information. - Finding an apartment is annoying. I found a cheap place in a nice area, but they wanted proof I make more then $1500 a month for a place that's less that a 1/3 that a month. bunnypuncher
- Roommate's fucking cat woke me up twice before I had been asleep for 4 hours. - I have a headache from either lack of sleep or being pissed (I never get headaches). + It's sunny and 87 in Portland today. mcm1610
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Talking to my mom today about her benefit and stuff, she's finally back on a time-table. She had been backed up by problems and 9 months in Boston turned into a year turned into 15 months turned into "indefinite" but she's aiming to be home by Christmas, which would be 11 months from when she left. It's been an AMAZING 2 or 3 weeks for her health and I think a lot of the positivity from the benefit has helped her spirits, which always boosts her health. It's been awesome all around, so it's hard to mope about little things these days when such huge things are going forward. At my mom's benefit, she requested we play Dropkick Murphy's - "Forever" and it's got an entirely different spin now. It makes me emotional. Guest eriathomas
- Fucking stressed out. I have a test on Tuesday I need to get a 60% or better on to pass a class, then on Thursday I have another test in the same class I need to get a 70% or better on to go on to the second class. I've gotten at least a 60% on all the tests, but I'm right around a 70% average which sucks. The second one should be easier since it's a skills tests, but it's not done with real equipment just a program so who knows. Fuck CCNA stuff. - Stress is making me really foggy headed, which is not helping with my subnetting home work, which it seems I've completely forgotten how to do. + Pay day soon from work, and I've sold a bunch on half.com and have a nice amount coming n from it. I've also volunteered for an early presentation to get myself studying right from the start. From dodging Research Methods classes, I've ended up with a class on Political Economies which is as boring as it sounds. +++ I've been getting unbelievable vinyl scores lately. --- I am spending way too much money.
