I had a photo ipod and it lasted me a good while before i sold it this past year. It never gave me problems short of the minor hiccups which seldomly occur in all ipods. My battery would always give a 5 hour charge toward the end of it's life.

Maybe it all comes down to how you take care of it. I never dropped mine nor did i ever have it out of a case. So maybe that's got alot to do with how long it lasted.

I've had the same one for 4 years now. Battery still goes for hours, and it's only little hiccups are that 3 or 4 albums have a track or two that just won't go in the right spot in the tracklisting but rather go at the end no matter what I do. I don't know what the rest of the world does to their ipods, but from my experiences, they aren't as terrible as most people want you to believe.

I had a 4G 20GB iPod for about 2 1/2 years and it was fine, apart from the battery life was starting to dwindle. I bought an 80GB classic in January and it's fine, although I feel the click wheel isn't as responsive as my 4G. Realistically though, the 80GB classic, to me, is a stopgap until they release an iTouch with something close to that capacity ;)

I had a philips recordable mp3 player that was rad. You hooked it directly to your turntable and it recorded really high quality mp3s. But it had all sorts of little problems and drove me nuts. I eventually switched to Macs and final vinyl.

As a straight up mp3 player that philips thing was great. If anyone wants to buy it let me know. I think it's 20g.

They recently released a 32 gb Touch... still shitty capacity, if you ask me. Also, it's $500.
