cloud90
So I just got back from hot topic i bought no doubts tragic kingdom on clear vinyl. I got home opened it up and by the time it got to the song dont speak it skipped. i started the song over again to see if it was a fluke or something but it skipped in the same place. Anyone else have problems with this album. I mean its brand new.

rocknroll76
Those shirt bundles are hit and miss. I have Appetite For Destruction and Sticky Fingers...no problems at all. The Hot Fuss one had a skip from manufacturing though.

mcpherson123
Turn up your tracking force and play back the skipping section. Increase tracking force until skips stop occurring. It doesn't always work but I have about a 90% success rate with this method.
rocknroll76
It was one I sold, never tried it on my setup. The buyer just let me know...it was sealed and all that.
masteroftheobvious
if you don't want to jack with your table, just put a penny or a quarter on the cartridge and test that song. I have a few stubborn 7 inches that i have to do that on, but i'm not working with top of the line equipment...

harryq
but i'm not working with top of the line equipment... I'm pretty sure this is the last thing I would do. I cringe just thinking about it. I get queasy when people use non-top of the line equipment, too!
itmustbereal
Thats not what I meant, it dosent matter what kind of a table it is, a coin(s) is going to be too much weight.
moonbeams
What kind of turntable do you have?
Dillhole
Friend of mine has the clear orange t-shirt bundle and his plays fine. I have a clear green regular reissue and it plays fine as well.
masteroftheobvious
to each their own. when talking about a gram or 2 difference, i'm not that worried. but like i said, i'm not risking anything with my equipment since most of it is hand me downs. And i'm not worried about the record, because if it is already skipping, what have i got to lose.
davehoffa
A penny or dime is not going to be too much weight. On a nicer turntable you can adjust the arm so that it barely even raises off the record when you cue it. DJs also keep them pretty weighted down to avoid skipping. davehoffa
p.s. don't be such a pussy when it comes to your records, especially ones that are in print and readily available should something go horribly wrong.
almightyseancore
you shoulda gotten s/t. or beacon street. perhaps the fates would have been more kind.

I can listen to that version and see if it skips.

cloud90
it's likely his record player. I dont think it is. Ive played a lot of records and it only happens on this one in the same exact spot. Its not my player

I just like taking care of my vinyl. I was just giving him my opinion on the coins, its not something I would do - but if he wants to its up to him. gabpower
Did you try a good brushing? I think mine (orange version) skipped at first but I cleaned it and it was fine afterward.
