skadaddy
I was at Hot Topic and I saw this genius method of theft protection. Someone took one of the anti-shoplifting tags that you put on a shirt and stabbed it through the center of the album cover, the holes in both records, through the back of the cover and then fastened the back piece. They still wanted full price for the album.
itmustbereal
oh. my. dear. lord. baby. jesus. This is an awesome example of why shopping at HT is a terrible idea (except for grabbing the Mark, Tom, and Travis Show).

elgato48
If my local hot topic starts doing this then will lose all my business. And the did it to 40 oz to freedom. Whoever did that need to be fired
seamoney
Funny, seeing as I have never been able to leave a HT with records that were properly desensitized and didn't trigger the security at every other store I went to.
skadaddy
WTF, what store was this at? Come on, Travis. I don't want to see anyone get fired over this. Plus I think the girl there saw me taking the pictures!!

itmustbereal
I called HT to have them hold me a M,T&T Show LP when it was first released, when I got there I saw it on the floor behind the counter under a bunch of shit, some of it looked heavy. The coners of the gatefold were bent and overall the presentation left something to be desired. Maybe they don't know though? Maybe they thought it was a calendar? As much as it would suck to get fired for this they are pretty much damaging the product. Who knows if they might have accidently clipped the records and cracked them. I wouldnt buy even at a discount

someasiandude
That's 100% pure shrinkage right there, no one will ever buy that might as well throw it in the trash.

Yeah...the piece in the back still had some play in it so it could spin pretty freely. As a result, there is a circular indentation in the the back of the sleeve too. travis
Im not even sure it was an employee who did this. It very well could have been a customer who found a sensor on the ground and thought it would be funny to put it thru a LP. Who knows. Its not like its the standard or anything.
