smailtronic
I was going through a WWII photoblog earlier this morning, and stumbled across a picture of a Nazi record booth at a 1932 radio exhibition in Berlin. Turns out, they had their own gramophone plate industry that just cranked out Nazi propaganda records. An interesting collision of history and music, to say the least. mcm1610
Yea, my first thoughts when I saw this thread title were, "uh-oh! Let's hope this goes better than last time..."
smailtronic
No, I don't remember that at all. I kind of remember a Prussian Blue thread, but nothing specifically about records. I'll delete it if things get stupid.

riddle350
I for one, think this is super interesting. I'm a big world war two nerd and I find all of the things that the Nazi party did to shore up it's support to be really fascinating.

smailtronic
http://vinylcollective.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=49467 Holy cow! From the dates, that thread took place when I was in Egypt, which would explain why I don't remember it. Didn't have much time for internetting while I was over there. birdwell
that's a crazy bit of history in other news, the obvious correlation here is that by us purchasing records....we are indeed supporting Nazis...bummer for all of us (please don't take this statement literally...I know the internetz is serious bizness and all)
mcm1610
In all seriousness, I've been meaning to read Mein Kampf for a while now. I find this stuff really interesting and wouldn't have a problem showing the stuff off. Having an interest in mementos like this and believing / following the ideas of the Nazis are completely different things.
somethingvinyl
You know Matt, Adolf Hitler read Nietzsche and Darwin and they influenced him greatly. Better be careful

pjaicomo
I just found the original copy of Mein Kampf my grandfather stole from Hitler's bunker during the war. I can't read German though.

pjaicomo
Didn't Nazi's invent magnetic tape? [EDIT] I guess they didn't actually invent it, but they basically co-opted it.

steventangent
I think we need more threads like the Hitler/Beatles one. I wish that radish omelet motherfucker would come back.
Japes
I do too, he was pretty awesome in an entertaining/comedic kind of way. Also, thanks for the link to the other thread, having a lot of fun reading this again. What a clusterfuck.
ryanmccauley38
I really want stuff like this. Not in a pro-Nazi way, but to have a piece of history like that seems really cool to me. There's this record store downtown that has this Pesi-Cola 7" from WWII. Apparently they went to the frontlines, and recorded messages to take home to whoever cared to listen (family, friends, WWII-era Pepsi-fanatics, etc.). The owner said he'd sell it to me for a quarter since he apparently never got around to even checking to see if it was in any selling condition, but he's since lost it among the stacks of records he's always sorting through. Sad shit. But yeah... on top of collecting discographies and variants, I'm super interested in collecting historically significant records.
