EmoVeganBoy
So this says that the "first press" will be on silver / orange / black. Is there a second press in the foreseeable future? I love the gatefold design, but am not really digging the current variants. I haven't heard any news of a second pressing. I think the silver looks dope as hell though. I would grab that before it sells out. Looks like there's only a few left.
Derek™
Yeah, down to four. I'm considering it - despite already owning an original press - but I'm going to kick myself if they announce some sexier variants in a week or two. Though I suppose Movmou wax can be considered a gift that keeps on giving, in a worst case scenario.
EmoVeganBoy
Yea I mean worst comes to worst you can just sell/trade it if they do announce another sexier pressing.
blanchardoswald
I haven't been able to get into this band, but I ordered this on silver. I figure if I don't like the EP, I can prolly just sell it for cost down the road eventually since it's /200. Anywhere I can stream this? Derek™
What have you listened to thus far? Just out of curiosity.
blanchardoswald
I haves Waves on my ipod, so I've spun that a couple times, but haven't really given it a good, focused listen. Is that a good place to start, or should I try something else first?
Derek™
I personally feel like Pneuma a little closer to Foreword. It's also pretty superior to Waves, too, in my opinion. It'd be worth a shot.
blanchardoswald
I will definitely give that a shot. Thanks for the heads up!
llamason56
Waves is totally different from this EP or Pneuma. This and Pneuma are more post-rock and Waves is more of a Thrice ripoff. It's a good starting point maybe but I think you'd like this EP and Pneuma over Waves
Derek™
Yeah, Pneuma is their debut, and has some really nice post-rock / instrumental bits. Then there's EP - which continues that theme, and is pretty brilliant - and then Waves. And while I wouldn't quite call it a Thrice ripoff, it really is a bit more straightforward and generic in comparison to their prior work. Long story short; I think you'll dig this. The first track is nine minutes of magic.
EmoVeganBoy
Yea I would definitely refrain from using the term ripoff in this instance. And most instances. All bands have various influences. That does not mean they are "ripping them off". I consider Waves to just be a more condensed version of their post-rock style. Still very atmospheric and epic. Definitely start with Pneuma though. Words like mind-blowing come to mind. "8105" and "Ode We Will Bury Ourselves" especially.
blanchardoswald
I really appreciate all the help! I've known about these guys since their debut, but haven't given them much of a listen for whatever reason. I figured I'd eventually be into them, and if I didn't order this record now I'd regret it.
