synapsistapped
The far-too-long 5-year wait is over! The good music institution that is Pinback have returned with Information Retrieved! This is (honestly, truly) one of the best albums they've ever made, which is saying a lot considering the legendarily consistent quality of their career. Put simply, this thing is filled with stone cold classics! While supplies last, we have colored vinyl available (edition of 500), as well as a super beautiful limited-edition screen printed art print w/ album download coupon (edition of 250). Those are signed and numbered by Daniel Danger, the artist responsible for the mind-blowing Information Retrieved artwork. These are both available for pre-order now exclusively from us, so if this is your cup of tea, drink it fast before someone else does! On one hand, their fifth album, Information Retrieved, is the logical and accessible realization of a sound Pinback have been developing and refining for over a decade. However, that consistency that we've taken for granted is what makes Information Retrieved such a euphoric surprise; their finest and most fully realized album, a dozen years deep into a career that includes bonafide modern classics like "Good To Sea" and Summer In Abaddon. Simply put, this is better than we ever could have expected. They could have coasted on automatic pilot to another lauded album that likely would have made it onto plenty of year-end lists, but instead they shot the moon, and the result is a major triumph. The touchstones are still there: Zach Smith's stunningly unique bass guitar acrobatics driving both rhythm and melody in lock-step unison; the incredible immediacy of Rob Crow's voice that could make a phone book sound compelling; and the musical and lyrical interplay between the two of them that made Pinback so special in the first place. The difference now is their exquisite control over dynamics and a greater emotional resonance throughout. It's the most complete and soulful Pinback album by a fair distance, the finest moment in the career of a band whose unfettered brilliance we've come to count on, but will never again take for granted.VINYL FORMAT INCLUDES FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD COUPON THE FIRST 500 VINYL ORDERS WILL RECEIVE LIMITED EDITION COLORED VINYL: DARK BLUE w/ BLACK HAZE http://temporaryresi...ions/trr179.php LIMITED EDITION SCREENPRINTED ART PRINT + MP3 DOWNLOAD COUPON (EDITION OF 250)!!While supplies last, we are offering this very special, absolutely gorgeous 12x36-inch, 6-color, limited-edition, hand-printed, hand-numbered and signed screenprinted art print by Daniel Danger, the world-renowned artist responsible for the artwork for the new Pinback album! kk-downing
Since TR doesn't have a date listed (or I just missed it), I'm assuming this is due out in October?
kannibal
I really hope this is better than Autumn of the Seraphs. I love Autumn. I think Summer In Abbadon is their worst. Not bad, of course, but whenever I play it, it flys right by with out grabbing me like Autum or Blue Screan Life does.I'm going to have to revisit the IR A & B 7"s as they weren't memorable at all to me. mcpherson123
I scored a clear Blue Screen Life for 5 bucks on eBay a few years ago. It skipped quite a bit in the first few songs which can be corrected by increased tracking force and there is a pretty good amount of noise which eventually subsides but for $5 ($8 after shipping) I can't complain about those few flaws. The music is nice and loud on the playback so I don't have to worry too much about the noise for the most part and the vinyl is one of the clearest I've ever seen.
