futures
I was in the same boat for a while, doctors turning me down for lack of insurance. You can always go to urgent care, though it'll cost more, or if your local hospital has an in house primary care doctor they'll usually see you too. that's fine for antibiotics and whatnot, but i have itp, hashimotos, and severe allergies that I need prescriptions for every 3 months. i need to see specialists to keep my thyroid under control and have scans done on it every few months. i can't do any of that with my current plan. Guest
Oh, yeah, that would create a problem. I know those drugs are not cheap, knowing my friend's cost for his grave's disease stuff. Make too much for medicaid?
futures
You could see if your boss will contribute X amount into a plan of your choosing from the exchange. You may also qualify for some subsidies if you self-insure, though I'm not clear on the legalities if you are getting a stipend from your employer. Just a thought, I've had the call the exchange about a couple things and they've been super helpful here in VT. I spoke with someone who was very nice from the federal marketplace (nj doesn't have its own) and she said I don't qualify for any discounts bc my boss is offering insurance that i would be opting out of. my boss will only contribute the amount he contributes to this current plan i'm on, which would leave me to find $3000 somewhere to pay the difference in the premiums. that's money I don't have, unfortunately. =[ bc of all my medical bills eating up any extra money i manage to have, I'm on the verge of having to move back home with my parents which is 2 hours away from my job here. that will cause different issues then. Make too much for medicaid? I actually have no idea, but I'd imagine so. where I live is super expensive. So I make a livable wage, but 75% of it goes towards my living expenses. GHOSTDRONES
thanks. i just don't know what to do. i guess i have to look for a new job because i can't skimp out on health insurance, but i also can't be trapped into this super expensive plan that my boss won't pay into just because the standard one is borderline catastrophic. Yeah, it sounds like a new job might be a viable option.

Plus most jobs make you wait 3 months before you get health insurance anyway, so you'd be stuck until then

Guest
I'm lucky my only daily RX is my anixety/depression meds. It's super cheap with Walgreens $20/year prescription help thing.
THE_James_Champ
I'm on an appetite suppressant, and low dose anti anxiety. The first time I filled the script for the fatty pills, I went to wal-mart and it was like $44 bucks for a 30 day supply, and basically 99% of all insurances don't cover it. The anti anxiety was $4. I found out the small time pharmacy down the road has the appetite pills for $18.99 and $4 for the anti anxiety. I go there now.
