aellerton
Ra Ra Riot - The Orchard Great album to take a chance on. For me, most recently: Pity Sex - Dark World, Feast of Love Tigers Jaw - S/T Deafheaven - Sunbather
Rip
Deafheaven - Sunbather letlive. - Fake History TWIABP - Whenever, If Ever Dads - American Radass (this is important) That's it off the top of my head. I bought all of these mainly from the incredible hype on this board. Not regrets at all. They've all become some of my favorite albums. vialister
Joyce Manor's self titled album. Bought it on a whim having never listened to them, and now they are probably my favorite band. Same, I'd heard good things but never listened to them. Dredg - Catch without arms. many moons ago....

Korgull Of Morgoth
Kaleidoscope - Tangerine Dream Thought it was some kind of early Tangerine Dream bootleg, really disappointed to find out it was by this band Kelidoscope and then overwhelmed with waves of psychedelic joy
mpitts
Cake - Motorcade of Generosity I was working at Best Buy when it was released in 1994 and just dug the album cover. It has since gone on to become one of my favorite albums.
paynegretzky
The first album I ever bought as a kid was London Calling, which I never heard a single song from at the time, and I would say it paid off because it got my into loving and buying a lot more music. Like youinreverse said, the album got me into a lot of older british stuff, which branched off into other genres.

Greystash
Built To Spill - Keep It Like A Secret Badly Drawn Boy - One Plus One Is One Pearl Jam - Vs GY!BE - Lift Your Skinny Fists... Only read about the bands when I bought these records. You start digging a new style of music ("Grunge", "Post Rock") and sooner or later you want to listen to all the bands that fit into the category. Great memories. Some of these records are still among my all time-favorites! Shit, I have to listen to One plus One... again!
drds89
Every album before Circuit City put Walkman's in the stores (? ca.1987) with demo cassettes so you could listen to the album before buying So I wasted enough money in record life -- never again. I don't like music surprises anymore, not worth it. LOVE recommendations though.

Swept Away ended up being the first dance song at my wedding.

j67ab
Return to Forever - Hymn of the seventh Galaxy, I was at a garage sale and I had found a Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced Album without a sleeve so I grabbed that to protect it. I got home and was curious as to how bad it might be and I was blown away on how good it was.
