Man Suits
I'm looking for some good reggae music. I already know about Bob Marley of course. I'm just looking at getting into some good reggae music that was released about at the same time as Bob Marley. Like 70's or 80's stuff.Where is a good place to begin? Like what groups are absolute staples for the genre? Thanks.
paranoidantroyd
Fuck the 80's shit and get yourself some early Desmond Dekker and the Aces or Justin Hinds and the Dominoes. henster311 and rudeboydh

steventangent
Tuff Gong Records was the Wailers' record label. If you're looking for an easy place to start. henster311
Man Suits
I'm loving Desmond Dekker so far. Keep them coming if you think of anymore.

rudeboydh
Pretty much anything that came out of Studio 1. Other than that, these other guys on here pretty much got it covered already unless you're open to giving some more modern stuff with a more traditional sound a listen, in which you should start with The Slackers. Guest
I was half-joking around...I don't mind Sublime, but I don't really consider them a reggae band or anything.
