Thing is, they can degrade faster than records or CDs, so if they aren't cared for properly they'll shit out on you. In my experience, modern cassettes can vary pretty wildly in quality, even when done by professional duplication companies. I mostly just buy tapes of albums/EPs that I assume won't get pressed to vinyl, but they're also a nice way to support a band and get their album for five bucks or so.
