  1. So unless I'm missing something here... if they don't leave the box, and they're quad-wrapped so you can't touch [or even see?] them... why drop the money on them to begin with? Brag rights?
  2. There we go. If we're being real, you did join a year + 7 months after I did... and you're only 800 posts behind me. Jussayin'.
  3. Sounds good to me. I'll be updating the OP with the entries. I tend to work and sleep a lot, so please forgive any lulls in the updates. I promise that they'll be addressed at least on a daily basis.
  4. Just the other day I was considering that this is the most I've posted on a forum, ever. Neither proud nor embarrassed by it, considering how long I've had the account. I feel like the bulk of my posts come from spurts of discussion on very distinct releases, and then in party threads (e.g. anything related to Brand New). Regarding your question... I'm pretty positive there is. There's got to be. I can't see vinyl as being the only "hobby" that's both actively discussed and flipped online. There has to be a community of Nike shoe fanatics somewhere out there.
  5. Oh you. I had no animosity behind my post, for what it's worth. Just presenting a concept I've often thought about. I also wouldn't say I comment on every thread on the boards. I have no interest in about 70% of the bands that VC seems to actively discuss. I'd save that question for someone with at least 10,000 posts.
  6. What if there are wrestling / figurine forums who are completely cool with this, and then freak out about the selling price of limited vinyl variants? Fun to consider.
  7. THE GRANDGIVEAWAY O F S O M E M E D I O C R E R E C O R D S # 3 ///// THE IDEA This board has seen a lack of Secular Haze and his charity as of late. And while I don't think any one of us can fill his shoes, I'm at least going to throw out an offer of a similar vein. I'm trying to clear out shelf space, and have a few albums that I no longer have a desire to own. My loss is your gain. I don't feel like dealing with eBay, honestly, so I was hoping to at least pass them on to a fellow VC member who can enjoy them. I don't have much to offer, and I'll only be listing one at a time periodically. I usually have spare mailers on hand, and am willing to cover shipping costs. ($3.00 or so for Media Mail, no tracking or insurance.) If you're feeling generous and want to kick in a few bucks for shipping, I won't argue with you. And I guess I'll open this up to international members, on the off-chance that I'm giving away something they can't live without. But it goes without saying that they'll need to cover the shipping costs. But I just want these gone, more or less... and for as much as I've benefited from the community over the years, I imagine it can't hurt to give back a little. It's not much, but I figure it's something. ///// THE PRIZE BRAND NEW Your Favorite Weapon Castaway is up next, after having won Tokimedo's last giveaway. He's offering up a copy of Brand New's Your Favorite Weapon. (Black vinyl, repress.) Entries will be open until he specifies a cut-off time. Get your pop-punk fix and experience VC's favorite overrated band -- enter now. ///// HOW IT WORKS Atypical from most raffles, I'll be taking all the username of each entree and compiling them into a looped GIF. The GIF will be posted in advance to each drawing, so that each member can inspect it for shenanigans, if they so wish. I will be clicking and dragging the GIF at random intervals, 10 separate times. The frame / username that I drag will get +1 vote. The best of 10 "drags" will be considered the winner. I'll be uploading the actual footage of me doing this drawing - for anyone and everyone to see - via a clip of my recorded screen. If anyone knows of a way that I can share my screen in a live setting (maybe Youtube?), I'd much prefer that. Seems like it could be more exciting, especially if I announced a set drawing time in advance. In the case of a draw, a tie-breaker will be executed, and will continue until a victor is determined. This method is entirely subject to change, and will be tweaked over future giveaways to maximize fairness.
  8. I actually took advantage of the Best Buy vinyl / refund exploit a while back, and at one point I had a few copies of Tycho's Dive in my recent-order list. Honestly would've been cool receiving them - especially since they were $8 a piece - and it would've made the perfect giveaway for this thread. Such a sweet sound, and it's really a shame that more people aren't familiar with his work. But alas, none of the Dives were delivered. I did, however, wind up with an extra copy of a record that I plan on giving away in this thread... but that will be addressed later. I really do like the idea of a massive chain of good karma, just to see how long it can go on. I'd say we can house the giveaway in this thread. I'll make some revisions to it later on tonight.
  9. You guys see the latest press of this? Coke bottle clear with blue smoke /1,000. I think it looks sleek as hell, and is probably one of my favorite variants of what's available for this album.
  10. Some really solid albums here, along with fair prices. The only thing that caught me off guard was that Whirr record. I swear I bought that exact variant just a short while ago, directly from the label. Is it really fetching that much already? Nutty.
  11. I was more-so thinking '21, putting you at 93 or so. But either way. I really like garharhar, too.
  12. I know I said it before, but this is a solid want list. If you swapped out Saves The Day for Caretaker's Empty Bliss, I think I'd get behind every single item in that initial post. Someone was selling a fairly priced Luxury Problems here on the boards, the other day. I believe it was on gold.
  13. Everyone needs a good ol' cry fuck from time to time. Just let it out.
  14. Not downplaying your bucket-list but genuinely curious; seeing Brand New live has been a lifelong goal of yours?
  15. Oh yeah, that's almost exactly what happens. Not all the time, but I've definitely seen it. A large bid early on in the auction, so the listing remains dormant with 1 bid and what appears to be $0.99... only to have a flurry of offers being outbid in the final moment. There have been a few items in the past that I tried to snipe at the last second, only to find out that the bid that's been sitting for nearly a week was way [way] higher than I was willing to go. Always a bummer, but that's the name of the game. Another plus to that last second bid is that it doesn't give me time to consider foolishly spending more than I should. If it's not in the cards, it's simply not meant to be.
  16. I've never tried those circus peanuts. Growing up, I've always been curious as to what they taste like... but just never curious enough to take the plunge.
  17. So they can sell out and repress it in another starburst configuration, keeping the variant in demand while also taking advantage of the select crowd who've gotta' have them all. People are more inclined to pull the trigger on a purchase, too, when a press is /600 vs. /6,000.
  18. I think some people genuinely believe that the winner of an auction is determined by who accrues the most time as the top bidder, for the duration of the listing.
