Toronto hardcore luminaries Fucked Up have discussed some details on their upcoming holiday single. The band revealed:

In honor of the season, Fucked Up has recorded a special festive single. The a-side features a brand new holiday themed song by Fucked Up. Clocking in at four minutes, this ripper is about the birth of our lord and savior: David Eliade and serves as a taste of what is to come on Fucked Up's for coming LP, "The Chemistry Of Modern Life", that will see the light of day next year.

The b-side of the record boasts a very special Christmas / Hanukkah / Kwanzaa song which has Fucked Up collaborating with: James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Cole (Black Lips), Davey Havok (AFI), Kevin Peterson (What's Your Rupture?), Faris Rotter (The Horrors), Mike Fellows (Rites Of Spring), Matt Sweeney (Chavez/ Zwan), Dave One (Chromeo), Jacob Thiele (The Faint), Morag and Ursula, Jay Reatard, Dan Romano (Attack In Black), Trevor Keith (Face To Face), Jason Green (Panthers/ Orchid), Jerry A. (Poison Idea), Shenae Grimes (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Scott Vogel (Terror) and Nelly Furtado. This is not a joke. All of these people (willingly) participated in the recording of this song. This probably the most bizarre collaboration that they have/ will ever do.

The single was recorded in studio space donated by Chris Hegge of Audiolab Studios Toronto and a limited number will come gift wrapped in "special Fucked Up wrapping paper" donated by Simone of Punchclock. All proceeds from the sale of the record will go to the George Herman House, a transitional housing and life skills program that supports women who are living with mental health issues in Toronto.

The release will be supported by an event at Toronto's Sonic Boom music on December 15th.

Here's the deal:

To celebrate the release of this record and everything wrong/ right about this time of year Fucked Up will be hosting a very special event at Sonic Boom Music (512 Bloor St. West) on December 15. With the help of the very talented Tim Oakley, Fucked Up will be playing a live set in Santa's Workshop and the ol' jolly fat elf himself will take over the vocal duties for Fucked Up at this event. There will be surprise guests and a chance to take your picture with Santa and best of all it is all for free (of course you can bring a donation for George Herman House)!!! All we are asking is that you please bring some non-perishable food items (and please don't bring in something stupid like cream corn or something that has been sitting in the cupboard for years) for the food bank (we will have a box for donations).

So come down with some food, take a photo with Santa, watch Fucked Up and buy a 7". It is all for a good cause.

And for the record(zing!), I'll definitely be going to the show where they're selling this, so if anyone needs me to pick them up one, I should be able to.

we will release the 7" version of "David Christmas" on December 15th, the a-side featuring the aforementioned title track, with a bside with holiday wishes from a few of our closest friends. These singles will cost $10 and will be designed and gift-wrapped by our friends at Punch Clock - they will be the perfect gift for you son and/or daughter. 100% of the money from these singles will be donated to George Herman House. The press will be 1000 copies - the copies that aren't sold at the show will be available for mail order - please await details. Studio time was graciously donated by our friend Chris Hegge from Audiolab Toronto, a great studio where we have recorded most of our 7" singles (402 Salem Avenue North. 416-516-5542)
