  1. Man, the Morgan thing took a way different turn than I thought it would. Of course, in the original, they find Morgan and bring him back to DC, not the prison like they were trying to do here. This was a great episode With as quickly as they're moving, I really can't imagine them dealing with the Governor past this season's end.
  2. AIM name: the kids today x had it for ten years. i'll log on if you people do. edit: just installed AIM on my iPad.
  3. would like to like some of these posts, but they would ultimately go to waste due to eventual thread deletion.
  4. this is seriously the best metaphor to describe the guy. homework would be the equally grating middle brother.
  5. this thread is just taking SO many turns!
  6. Oh, I totally understand. I'm just messing around. I'd take traditional vinyl any day of the week over lathes, but I definitely think they have their place and are fun. Just got the first batch back today in a weekly lathe series that Notes and Bolts is doing and they're pretty rad when put into the sleeves that I made for them (printed the center labels and credits onto transparency sheets and forewent center labels on the actual lathes - when you hold one in yr hand, it's clear all the way through, like a jelly fish or something, hahah).
  7. now to be fair - lathes are fun. solid art objects. no different than limited cassettes, really.
  8. We're getting sent a reel to reel through the mail (150 in shipping since it's so big) - not interested in that Beatles one, obviously, but the listing did send me down a wormhole to other albums on the format. Stoked to hook it up!
  9. Haven't done any reading as to why the two formats were sequenced differently - what's the reason? Honestly, and I know this is lame, but I'd like the cd version just because that's what I've been listening to since its release. hahah
  10. Found a copy of Mechanical Animals on the bay for 29 shipped and couldn't resist. Would probably buy it again if HT did it, though, for the rumored possible cd track sequencing. At this point, I'll buy just about anything Manson that Travis presses.
  11. is it bad that when I read the title to this thread, I thought of that one Star Wars novel where Chewbacca gets crushed to death by two planets? Then when I read the article, I thought of Johnny Depp being sucked into his bed in the first Nightmare film.
  12. We'd totally appreciate if you did! It'll be a really cool series. We've worked out a deal with the person cutting them to where these will be regular and fairly on time to the timeline I sketched out above. Depending on the amount of copies in the run, it could be even shorter of a turn around (Videotape had a run of 56 and was turned around in days. Chandeliers is only half of that at the moment, so may be even faster).
  13. At the moment, we're doing a roughly two to three week turnaround. Though, in some cases, the turnaround will be quicker - as in the case of the Videotape lathe, we'll be getting them in tomorrow (only took a week to turn those around). I just have to make the sleeves for them and then I'll have them packaged and sent out by this time next week. In most cases, however, even with transit time included, we'll rarely ever take longer than a month. I think that anything at or under a month is pretty quick considering that we're running the order live and then having them cut immediately after and then sent over to us so that we can sleeve up and ship out. The Chandeliers one ends on Monday at noon, so act fast! The third volume goes up on Wednesday - a really awesome dub track from The Drastics, one of the best Chicago roots/reggae/dub bands going at the moment. The track is super spooky. Great end of Winter music!
  14. Real Gone tends to be a really underrated one, but it's hands down my favorite Tom Waits record - it's the perfect distillation of all of the swampy gruffness and murky creepiness that all of his other stuff up to that point was promising. So good.
  15. ^ don't see any 20 dollar copies on Amazon, but just scored one off ebay for 29. Close enough.
  16. Go ahead and get a jump on this one. We're planning on doing these on a weekly basis for the indefinite future. bump for the night people.
  17. Hey, Design VCers! I'm looking for someone with a bit of good acumen around Photoshop to help with a center label that I'm working on - the placement of it, etc. I'm working on some short run 7"s and I want to house them in sleeves made from transparency sheets. I've printed on these before to hold test presses of previous projects N+B has worked on, but I'm trying to figure out how to place the center label onto the actual sheet, so that it sits over the record when it's housed in the sleeve. Make sense? I'm bad at wording this. The label isn't anything extravant, just the N+B logo, the name of the band, the song title and the catalog number. PM me and let me know!
  18. I don't think it really spoils it - can delete if so. They meet while on the road and then discover the prison together. Essentially, Tyreese is Rick's right hand man for a spell, filling the role that Daryl seems to fill in the show. That to me is why this change in the show's writing is so interesting. I can understand why some more serious comic adherents wouldn't like it, but I think the change is great. Keeps us guessing.
  19. Hey, Friends! So last week's first lathe entry in our series received a total of 56 orders. Pretty great numbers for a first shot out! As of this week's second lathe, we're going to be making this a weekly thing. When one order for a lathe ends, another will start moments later, so the time is still of the essence to get a hold of these. Also, at $10 ppd, you're getting a good deal each time! A few notes from the sales listing: "This pre-order will be up for ONE WEEK and then taken down. However many that we receive orders for is however many we will make. The cap for all lathes in this series is 100 copies. If we hit 100, then the order will be taken down - that is the only exception for it to not run the full week. ***PLEASE NOTE - that each sleeve will come with the buyer's name printed onto it. IF YOU BUY MULTIPLE COPIES, PLEASE E-MAIL US and let us know what names you would like placed upon each sleeve, otherwise we will print the buyer's name on all copies that they order. We will not be leaving any blank - NO EXCEPTIONS. To explain the nature of these: Lathe cuts are short run vinyl records that are cut in real time one by one - these are not factory produced records ala larger pressing plants. Each one will be $10 with shipping included (or $7 if yr in the city and want to pick up). Why are these somewhat pricey? Because each one is hand cut in real time one by one, the process of producing this run of records is a longer one - if 63 people order copies, the person cutting this will be hearing the song on the lathe 63 times. Each record will also be packaged in a hand made sleeve made from transparency sheets and personalized with the record's number (13/63, for example) along with the name of the record's owner. These are essentially art objects, which is why they're a couple of bucks more than a normal $5 seven inch. ( Picture listed isn't the actual Lathe. It is merely just for reference to show you what the lathe will look like - it is a clear cut poly carbonate square and NOT a black or other colored vinyl record. And YES, this record CAN be played on a turntable using a normal needle and will NOT damage it. Also - anything ordered with this lathe will only ship out once your lathes ship. Check the link below for the second installment in the series - N+B 017 Only pressing: /? Chandeliers: Lemur - a jammer from the Shape Shoppers who have built a beyond solid rep for complex electronic sounds and rad, stacato melodies. We recently dropped their latest 7" in December and 'Lemur', is very much in the same vein. A total stunner. 20. I like how the writers are flipping the sides back and forth from the source material. Makes it way harder to predict for those of us who've read the comics - seeing Tyreese meeting with Governor in an amicable manner versus how they'd originally met in the comics is really interesting - it'll be cool to see if Ty stays pitted against Rick for very long. Also interesting to see the group treating Andrea with such hostility. Anyone notice the likely intentional repeat motif of Merle opening the gate for Andrea to leave the prison in the same way that he opened them to let her leave Woodbury? Despite the lack of action, I thought last night's episode was great. Maybe it's because of Mad Men and Breaking Bad, where the structure is largely dialogue based, but I like the slower episodes where they're hashing everything out and strategizing. In the case of Andrea and Merle's personal arcs, I think redemption is coming.
  21. there's a shop down the street called Odd Obsession that totally rules. They specialize in all manner of weirdness - horror, sci fi, french new wave, avant garde, etc - and still offer VHS and DVD's for rental. They also sell a lot of what's on their shelves. I've gotten so many great horror tapes from there for way cheap. Places like this still exist, you just have to dig to find them.
  22. ^ like. will like this like every time.
