Got my email a little after 9pm... Just starting my second listen and so far I'm liking it a lot. Admittedly, I'm "busy working" while I listen, but there wasn't anything that really stood out one way or the other. It's about what I expected and I'm sure that it'll grow on me once I have some time to actually pay attention to it. Now I just need to patiently wait for the delayed color vinyl to ship...

For those looking for it: as of yesterday afternoon the Genesee Valley location in Flint, MI had at least 2 copies of MTTS.

I received my order for the missing Prolonging the Magic LP and all of the jackets and sleeves this afternoon. Happily, everything arrived in great shape, I didn't have to/don't have to ship anything back, and I also received the Sheep Go To Heaven RSD 7" in a plain black jacket. I'm pretty satisfied with how they handled the issues.

Fucking expensive day... Randomly stopped at the local mall/HT and picked up Tragic Kingdom on a whim, got home and ordered Turn The Radio Off, and now this.

Paypal direct transfer from checking worked fine for me on the first shot...

I sent them a detailed email regarding the missing LP and the dings/splits after not receiving any reply from my phone call. I was told that I will have the replacement LP within three weeks... Nothing regarding the other issues. So it looks like I will end up with all of the albums, hopefully one without seem splits, 7 with splits, and a dented box.

Just got mine which was really surprising and opened it up to find only 7 LPs. Looks like I was shorted Prolonging the Magic. I called and left a VM for customer service. I wonder what, if anything, they'll be able to do for me. Also, it was kind of beat. There are a couple good size dings in the box and every single sleeve and jacket has splits.

I would purchase more records if my bank account balance wasn't always near zero. It's difficult to keep my composure while explaining to my wife the contents of the LP shaped cardboard containers in the mail. Hot pink/opaque red haze...

Verify that the onboard preamp on the AT is turned off. If so, turn it on and run the rca cables into one of the regular line inputs on the reciever and see if the results are any different. It would also probably be worth moving some things around so you can try both ways without the extra rca cables in the signal path to potentially rule them out as the problem.

Siouxsie and the Banshees - Peepshow I bought it at a used book/music store about 23-24 years ago along with a bunch of random comics and cds.

You COULD run both (since both are active) by using 2 rca splitters. Come off each channel of the preamp into a single male/dual female splitter and run one rca cable from each female splitter lead to one of the A2s and one of the R5s. Make sure there is one of each type of speaker on each channel, not both A2s on one and both R5s on the other... That being said... don't do it. Looking at the increased driver sizes, larger cabinet size, and spec'd frequency extension, I can't imagine the set of Rokits not sounding better than the A2s. For a lot of different reasons, mixing the speakers is going to sound worse than just running one set. You aren't going to get surround sound using 2 sets of mismatched speakers. You will get weird voice mis-matching, phasing problems, and other issues. I would run the Rokits on their own and sell the A2s to finance some other stuff.

If its almost dragging at .75 grams I'm guessing that increasing VTF is going to bottom out the cart even more... Its possible that the suspension on your new stylus is defective or was possibly damaged during installation. Given the low cost of the stylus I would probably replace it again and see if you get better results and/or see about getting a warranty replacement on the one you're having issues with.

I'm actually trying to find (locally) a Technics 1700 mk2 right now... Lots of people really dig the Technics 1600-1700-1800 range and some even seem to prefer them over the 1200. From what I've read your best off looking for a mk2 model. As far as the 1600 being considered "audiophile", I'm sure you'll get opinions leaning both ways on that, but I don't think anyone's going to tell you its not a solid, good sounding table. I would think that it shouldn't have any issue besting the project carbon.
