  1. I can't figure out any reasoning behind Amazon's packaging policies. All I can guess is that some shipment facilities have mailers and others don't. I haven't had bad luck with either, but the boxes seem like such a waste.
  2. I'm annoyed about the Deftones release, only because I have a feeling it's going to take forever to get them all and having it delayed even further doesn't help that.
  3. Here's some stuff I can think of off the top of my head. A few might be a little obvious, but you hadn't listed them, so I figure it wouldn't hurt to mention them. For more guitar driven stuff : Talons - Hollow Realm Grails - Doomsdayer's Holiday Boris - Flood (not really that new I suppose, but it's excellent) Nadja - When I See The Sun It Always Shines on TV (not instrumental, but I think it fits with what you're looking for.) Earth - The Bee Made Honey in the Lion's Skull (pretty minimalist, not for everyone). Animals as Leaders : Weightless On the more electronic or ambient end : Oneohtrix Point Never : Returnal Horseback : Impale Golden Horn Eluvium : Copia Locrian & Mamiffer : Bless Those That Curse You I'm too lazy to look up albums, but EF, Fourteen Nights at Sea and Gregor Samsa are worth checking out too. Edit : I also support the Tim Hecker recommendation from Bronchitis.
  4. I love the photos that Faith does that they're packaged with. The ones in the Damien Johnston split are fantastic.
  5. Even with all the time I've spend browsing Cave In's discogs page, I somehow still didn't know that it had a cassette release. I dig that artwork.
  6. I have no idea where they got this information, but this site is saying that it's been postponed. http://new-vinyl.blogspot.com/2013/09/record-store-day-black-friday-2013.html
  7. Hop Stoopis is great! Lagunitas is a strong brewery all around.
  8. I was thinking the same thing. Cave In is one of my favorite bands and I'm a sucker for cassettes on top of that. Even though I'm bummed HH isn't releasing any new music, I'm not disappointed with their focus on repressing older releases.
  9. I just browsed the official list they put up. All I'm really interested in is Nick Cave, The Replacements, Flaming Lips and possibly that Townes van Zandt box set (depending on price). I noticed those Wilco & Billy Bragg reissues weren't on the list, which is odd. I want those either way, RSD release or not.
  10. I'm with you, I like her better with longer hair too. That whole scene with her and Gemma made me laugh, it was a little too ridiculous for me. Edit : Also, why does EVERY episode have to end with some sort of musical montage (for lack of a better work)? It wasn't as frequent in the earlier seasons, but it seems like this season and the last have one at the end of every episode.
  11. Hydra Head posted a photo of some additional new represses on their Instagram account. I didn't see any of the ones we didn't already know about on their store though. I'll definitely be grabbing that Helms Alee release, I waited too long and missed it the first time around.
  12. I love Jubelale! I was so excited to see that it was back that I had to tell two people about it, only one person (my brother) was as excited as I was. I had Good Life's Mountain Rescue Pale Ale a few days ago. It was decent, but nothing overly special. I was a little disappointed because Good Life's Descender IPA is so damn good, I figured their pale would be excellent as well.
  13. I think I agree with you. It's been a while since I've watched the first season, but I think I like this one the most. The dialogue is so sharp and quick in this season. I think Kenny in a suburb setting is what made the first season work so well and tossing him back into that setting is working really well for the current season. I know I've mentioned it before, but Ken Marino and Tim Heidecker just add to the show. Both are perfectly cast.
  14. Damn it, I'm playing on my work machine and I'm off for ten days. On the plus side, I guess I'll have plenty of loot when I get back! I haven't gotten the thank you achievement yet either.
  15. Same here. I was pretty disappointed in the deluxe for New Moon that I've been weary of shelling out the extra money for another deluxe edition from Sacred Bones. It's awesome to see that they've stepped it up a bit, but now I'm mad at myself for not taking the chance on it.
  16. I listened to this while I was at work a few days ago and liked it quite a bit. I've always been a little lukewarm on TWDY, but the live recordings turned me around on them. I'm going to dig back through their catalogue and see if it sits with me differently than it did when the albums first came out.
  17. Here's a video for Buried Under a World of Roses : http://www.spin.com/articles/death-of-lovers-buried-under-a-world-of-roses-video/
  18. Could you possibly sell or trade the baby for a new setup?
  19. "Look at all the records I bought with my cum money!"
  20. Damn, I wish we would have gotten deafheaven on that tour! I caught deafheaven open for them the tour before, but it would have been rad to have them both times. Did anyone else get a Sargent House fridge magnet with their order?
  21. That's a great one! I'm excited for more Wear Your Wounds.
  22. I just listened to my copy (for the first time since I bought it I think). My B-side has the residue or whatever you want to call it from the sleeve. It still sounds good to me. The only really noticeable surface noise is at the end of Stuck Pig where the guy is singing, but that part is a little noisy on the CD too if I remember right. Other people's copies could be worse, but mine isn't bad. I do plan on tossing it in a different sleeve as soon as I get some though, no sense in making it worse. Worst case scenario, you got a $20 dollar noisy record instead of a $40-50 one!
