  1. I've felt that way about every post-Art of Drowning AFI album on first listen. They've also all grown on me quite a bit after repeat listens.
  2. Here's a single from the new album out next year : https://soundcloud.com/tycho/tycho-awake
  3. Looks like Insound has the three reissue LPs and the newest one for 15% off this week and you can use fallwinter2013 for another 10% off. Brings them all to right above $20. http://www.insound.com/Boards-of-Canada/A/22698/
  4. If it wasn't someone who just signed up, presumably to just flip the record, I wouldn't.
  5. or you could buy it off discogs for $80 http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=4924727&ev=rb
  6. Agreed. That Ghastly City Sleep 2xLP is well worth the $1.99 price tag, as is the pg.99/Majority Rule split (on puke vinyl) for $3.99. The Paper Chase isn't for everybody, but I'd suggest spending the $1.00 and checking it out too.
  7. Magic Bullet's pricing always seems to be very reasonable too, this will probably be one of the least expensive 3xLPs you'll pick up too.
  8. I kind of forgot about Escape from Tomorrow, glad this thread was here to remind me of it. Just watched it and it was an interesting film. It's a little rough, but considering how it was made, I think that can be overlooked. It's dark and surreal. The juxtaposition of it reminded me of Blue Velvet a bit. As a whole, I dug it. The Wikipedia article is worth reading afterward.
  9. Same goes for the Do Make Say Think & Mono releases, they can be purchased new from the labels for $12.46 and $15 respectively. Might want to adjust the price if those aren't PPD. Hope the sale goes well!
  10. Yeah, I dig it. I wasn't so strong about waiting for the LP on that one, so I've listened to it a few times before I ordered it.
  11. I'm going to hold off for now (although I did download the leak). My copy of the new Pelican should be here in a few days, that should tide me over on Chicago post-rock/metal for until this shows up.
  12. Interesting. I haven't tried it myself, but all the people I know who've tried have given up. I know that USPS wants the law to change, they think it'll increase their revenue stream. http://money.cnn.com/2013/08/02/news/economy/postal-service-beer/index.html
  13. My brother has spoken very highly of Whip In and Jester King actually! Red's Porch is doing a tapping of a Jester King cask beer that I'm hoping to try. I'll look into the 512 party and the Hops & Grain taproom, thanks for the suggestions on that! I just found out beer week coincides with my trip, so my brother and I are going to look through the calendar and see what looks best. We're definitely going to the lecture at Bangers that Jody Hunt from Sierra Nevada is doing.
  14. 808s is getting repressed. http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/93592-kanye-west-808s-heartbreak-reissue/ Unless you specifically want a first press, I'd suggest waiting to buy or trade for that.
  15. I enjoyed it overall. I have a few nitpicks that I can't go into without giving things away, but I thought it was worth the time it took to watch it. I really liked how the story is presented and progresses, it's almost entirely through dialogue, which I thought was fairly unique (at least for a horror film).
  16. Thanks for the recommendations! Sounds like End of the Ear, Waterloo and Encore will be my three for sure stops. I'll be there over that weekend actually (which turns out to be part of Austin Beer Week too). I'm going to look into it more, but I think I should be able to make it one of the days. Thanks for bringing this up, I don't think I would have discovered it on my own! I'm going to parse through that list and see what else is close and looks good. My brother says there are about 4 record shops pretty close to his apartment, so it won't be too hard for me to wander off and check a few of them out.
  17. Every person I know who's tried to ship beer has had mixed results, most of the time it didn't arrive. Since it isn't legal to ship alcohol across state lines through them, USPS usually confiscates it. I'm not sure how FedEx/UPS handle it, so you might have better luck with them, but I don't know for sure. I know it's expensive due to weight. I think you're best option is to use an online beer store of some kind : http://onlinebeerstores.homestead.com/
  18. I really dug that movie, I second the recommendation. I spend my three days off staying home, so I blew through some movies this week. The Conjuring, Monsters University, The Innkeepers, Pontypool and The House of the Devil. I think I'm going to have a pretty slow night at work too, so I'll probably watch something tonight as well.
  19. I'm too lazy to create an account to see if the shipping is cheaper. Blue Collar Distro's shipping cost was the biggest problem I had ordering from Hydra Head. I do like how they have Sold Out on the item image now too. It was obnoxious clicking on an item only to find it's sold out.
  20. Beacons was the first album I listened to and it hooked me. Not quite sure if it's the best launching point, but it worked for me.
  21. I'm in the exact same boat. I'm going on vacation the day they were playing here and they were playing the day I leave where I'm visiting, so it works out really well for me too.
  22. Is Ghostly offering Media Mail these days? I ordered the Pale Sketcher EP they released two or three years ago and I remember only being able to choose Priority. It was packaged up really well too.
