That's bonkers. Adding in stuff from those new pictures, I've ID'd 80% of the pallet (I'll share the list after the auction ends). I hope this goes to a collector, because if it's somebody looking to flip them, they're gonna take a bath.

So many of the album 4 demos they put up on an almost daily basis were great, and further served to make the actual albums seem poor. The Blue/Pink, Black Room, Green & Maladroit bundles could be very interesting

I've got all of them. Black Room is great, there's some good stuff in the Green and Maladroit demos too. A lot of the Green and Mala demos are similar to the demos we already have from those time periods. I was also pleasantly surprised with the Make Believe demos. I hate that record, but there was way better stuff that could've been on there.

    I'm thinking the same thing.

@smailtronic I wonder if  you can paw through a few of those to see if they have any writing on them. I know some Victory Records test presses have "VR---" written in pen in an upper corner of the sleeve.

For sure, I'm also more intrigued by the trunk, and am going to try and look through it a bit.

I think that we really need to answer the following questions:

    - Who will officially bid on the auction(s)?

    - Will that person be able to pay for the auction in full upon winning? (The last thing I would want to do here is have someone stuck with a $5,000 invoice with no way to pay for it)

    - Will that person be able to pick up an entire pallet of boxes? (Do they have a truck, van, car? The pick up date is Thursday the 10th, starting at 8am and must be fully claimed by 12/31.  There is info about rigging/removal to presumably take the pallet from the 5th floor to a loading dock.)

    - How long will it take to sort through all of the boxes? (Hell, I could possibly host a video chat while the person opens the boxes and shouts out the items, catalog numbers to me and I put them in the Google Doc.)

Based on what I find out later today (and where the prices go tomorrow), I'm still planning to bid, and can pay in full (full payment is required w/in 48 hours). I'd rent a small moving van and a jack to get it out, but boy would I love some help carrying it all up the four flight of stairs into my place! If I win, I'd look to move it out either this Friday the 11th, or next Friday. I'd most likely be limited to nights/weekends for sorting/organizing, but video chatting would definitely help move it along. It's a huge effort just to identify and reorganize the physical items, let alone digitize the records too.

Start of a Google Doc with currently known records (on pallet) and "Investors," which is just a list of everyone who has replied to this thread. Note that not everyone wants to throw in money. I am just keeping track of everyone.

Alan, can I ask that you only grant access to established board members who PM you about it first? If there're any potential bidders watching this thread remotely (and this is the second Google result for victory records auction), I don't want to be doing their work for them.

So everyone is in for flipping this for profit or do people want the records for them selves?

That's also part of the difficulty with a group thing. I think everybody's interested in keeping some number of the tests. You could structure it so that every $X put in allows you to keep X number of tests, but not knowing what all's in there means there may not be any of what an individual wants. It also could impact the total profit by removing more valuable records from the sale pile.

I'd be interested to hear (today) from the folks who have said they'd throw in a couple hundred bucks. What are you hoping to get out of this? What does success look like for you? God, that sounds like I'm at work, sorry. Agreeing on a single focus/plan of action may not even be possible.

Alan, thanks for listing them out. I looked them up on Discogs yesterday too, and while it was mostly newer stuff (like Paul said), there are catalog numbers back into the early hundreds which is more in line with where the good stuff is.

What does all of that mean.

with the price that the lots are currently at and the fact that it’s basically a blind buy I do not feel comfortable buying the lots by myself.

I would be willing to be the financial side of the “collective” and would throw in $500. However I don’t have the resources to be the person packing up the records and mailing them.

if we can pull together like 20 people and make a bid I would explain how this could work monetarily but need someone with a bunch of free time to do the shipping.

As it all seems to be tests, my take is that the name of the game is re-selling them all. But the problem that presents with a Collective model is, it's gonna take a long-ass time to sell all that off. Some stuff will do really well; 4 tests of whatever new chud they pressed in 2018... not so much. And if everybody splits the profit proportionally, based on their original investment, everybody has to wait until the end to cash out. There's no way we can predict, or guarantee a certain amount of profit to everybody, because we're not Virgil. Frame of reference, there's currently about $1500 proffered by folks in this thread.

I don't want to post the number publicly, but, if the numbers don't spike too much higher, I'd still lean toward buying them outright. I'm open to a group purchase, but is everybody content to wait for like a year until everything sells? Or Paul, do you see another way of the finances shaking out? I can't take January and February off to inventory and sell everything, so I'd have to spread it out.

I just emailed the auctioneer to ask if I can physically inspect the pallet tomorrow. I'd be happy with looking in a couple of the top boxes, and picking up a couple more, just to gauge weight. I'd also like to snap some more photos of the catalog numbers. Their T&C explicitly say that inspections are encouraged, so we'll see!

I’d certainly entertain splitting it. As long as I’m allowed to open the boxes I could make a serious offer

If you don't have enough time to go through everything you want to, let me know, and I can put in a request to tour it tomorrow. I live a 10 minute walk from their warehouse.

I would throw $500-$1000 at it, if you were being serious.

I'm interested to hear what all's in there. If those boxes are all full of test pressings, there's certainly profit to be made by reselling them. But if it's a mix of stampers and mechanical parts, it'd be nice to return them to the relevant bands, but that may turn into more of a break-even kind of thing than a profitable thing.

My offer is still on the table for any Drop 3 (or Drop 2 or Drop 1) items you're still looking for. I'm going out this afternoon to get a couple things for folks, so I'll be shipping items out today too. Help me get rid of some mailers and PM me!
