Hope y'all like synths and Appleseed turning up the energy to 11. Large departure from the last album and it's fucking incredible.

Yeah, honestly, fuck this band.  I don’t really understand how you guys can keep listening to the same album time and time again.  Deafheaven need to take one of these approaches to keep things fresh and win more of their fanbase back.

George and the boys go full twang.  No less than three banjo solos from Kerry will be acceptable.  Truly a hootin’ and hollerin’ output from the band.  Bonus points if Dan incorporates some jug blowing into the percussion.  No clear or articulate guitars allowed.

The most natural progression for the band, I think.  George needs to get away from the growls and just rap with loose rhyme schemes while Kerry pumps out some sick nu metal chugs in the background.  Really just getting away from that clear, articulate guitar sound, you know?  I think this has a lot of potential and could really rebrand the group.

Dude, fuck articulate guitars, bro.  This shit is all about sick drops that will put Deafheaven on stage with the illest DJs you’ve ever seen.  The beauty here is that the band can just pre-record their instruments and play them back in live settings with appropriate scratch effects.  Think Dream House (House Edition).  George could really mix up the vocals and go full autotune too.  Tell me it wouldn’t work.

Pretty hot bundle deal over at Popmarket for the next 24 hours.  $34 PPD for both, if anyone needs a copy of Leviathan.

I asked this same question a couple months ago, the consensus seemed to be the marantz 6004 is worth spending the extra for over the 5004, and also sounds better/warmer than the yamaha which was overly bright and tended to cause ear fatigue. Unfortunately for you I ended up buying a Marantz 2385 so I can't do much more besides repeat what was conveyed to me. Here's a link to that thread:

Can't comment on the Onkyo but every Onkyo 5.1 system I've owned/listened to has been pretty banging on the low end but not incredible on the highs.

Nice, it's $399 on amazon and with as bad of luck as I've had with used/refurb I'll just spend the extra cash for a new unit.

Lyrics are a train wreck on this record: easily the worst I've heard for the year. So I can't say with 100% certainty, but I'm pretty sure the lyrical content is void of vulture rape. So at least there's that.

Agreed on the colors. I think the splatter is really sweet but as far as complementing the rest of the packaging the orange/blue take the cake.
