  1. It's that legendary 4AD elaborate packaging at its finest.
  2. How shocking that someone might want to buy a poster drawn by the person that created the character featured on that very poster!
  3. I think it's close to zero percent. You'd be far better off storing the books and records separately, with the records on modern sleeves. You could always get an acid marker to test. They're usually under $10.
  4. Never understood the hate for Lovelife. While certainly a change in direction, it's an excellent britpop album.
  5. I think I've mentioned this sometime in the past but I just can't wait for the mindfuck that's going to happen when they finally introduce a CGC (like for comics) or PSA ( like for trading cards) like system that grades records professionally and then seals them in some non-opening casing. Some comic book collectors threw a fit when they started doing it ("But comics are for READING!"), I bet vinyl collectors will be even more offended.
  6. Not the Chinese. Much as they did during the recession with NYC real estate, Hong Kong will stockpile various Mondo variants, limited Record Store Day reissues and clear vinyl copies of Bowie's "Blackstar", filling entire warehouses with anything hipsters were after between 2001-2015.
  7. This is a senior’s post, correct? Looking at the uneven spacing and awkward pacing, it appears to be a post by someone who is wet-behind-the-ears when it comes to typing. Please confirm and then I will TYPE IN ALL CAPS HERE. What is your average AARP benefit? Do Depends®, Metamucil® and Columbo grab your attention? It would appear so. Most vinyl or “audiophyle” forums are a vast treasure trove of humorous banter. Including this one.
  8. Maybe an economic downturn will help add fuel to the reel-to-reel revolution's fire: http://www.chartattack.com/news/2016/01/21/after-the-vinyl-and-cassette-revolutions-is-reel-to-reel-next/ http://www.theverge.com/2015/10/5/9409563/reel-to-reel-tape-retro-audio-trend
  9. What you should really be worried about is the effect vinyl has on global warming.
  10. So the main theme I'm getting here is that record collecting Canadians are really getting screwed.
  11. I agree 100% but what I'm talking about is less the multi-thousand dollar Velvet Ungerground acetate sales - or even the hard to find White Stripes single for $100 - and more the practice of charging $40 + $10 for or the increasingly common bin-full-of-resissues-of-common-70s-rock-albums-on-180gm-vinyl-for-twenty-times-what-an-original-pressings-costs at FYE/Urban Outfitters/Walmart/Burger King or wherever. A nice rarity is always going to have value regardless of the economy or the year.
  12. I agree with the sentiment that recent college grads with disposal income will prop it up, I just think if we start seeing that segment of the population have trouble finding work it'll start to make an impact. And it's a good point that things came back full force after the last time, but I dare say the state of record collecting in 2016 is a lot different than it was in 2006/2007.
