  1. That mockup was too nice, so I sorta saw this coming and held off on ordering. I think I've reached a point where I will take any preorder mockup with a heavy dose of salt.
  2. They may look identical, but I assure you one is flavored like chocolate and the second like vanilla. Lick them and you'll see I'm right.
  3. I think their color choices are sometimes hit or miss but that one looks killer.
  4. Just noticed they updated the wording on the preorder page to reflect a September release date: "Please note that this is a PRE-ORDER, expected to ship in September 2016"
  5. Man, that is one of the most badly designed online shops I have ever seen.
  6. I highly recommend: Sufjan Stevens, Jr. Khyber Mail II: The Silly Sibling
  7. There used to be so many bands I disliked more for their annoying fans than their music which now that I've mellowed out I don't mind hearing in the background (and occasionally may even queue up on Spotify): Radiohead, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Sublime, etc... But not Dave Matthews. Never Dave Matthews.
  8. I hope you're all sitting down because today your dreams have come true: the estate of the late, great Keith Moon (of legendary UK "mod" band The Who) has deemed us worthy to finally make our music collections complete and own a tastefully designed Commemorative Drum Head! That's right, you can now display your love of all those classic hits - from "My Generation" to "Magic Bus" and everything in between - by spending $49.95 + shipping and handling on this simply-stated red, white and blue logo drumhead: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/keithmoon You're welcome, people!
  9. The photo is from the movie that featured the turntable in question. The turntable is the one used as a prop in the aforementioned movie.
  10. Oh Mondo, have you really conditioned us to think a $50 piece of plastic is a great value? Yes. Yes, you have.
  11. If you're not using PayPal, it all depends on your payment method. You should call your CC company up and ask them what the current conversion rate they're giving is. I think a lot of CCs convert in near real-time (plus whatever foreign transaction fees they tack on).
  12. I'm pretty sure PayPal adjusts conversion rates once a day; the movement tonight/tomorrow is going to be so unprecedented that I don't know if anything special will go into effect.
  13. At least the interns scribbling his initials didn't accidentally slip up and sign their own names like with the Roger Waters box set: http://www.digitalspy.com/music/news/a798941/pink-floyds-roger-waters-apparently-signed-this-special-edition-of-the-wall-with-the-name-jimmy-smith/
  14. You may be right, and obviously these sorts of things are difficult to predict, but my guess is that the currency gets totally hammered tomorrow then slowly recovers the beginning of next week after people have the weekend to think things over. Then it will trade up-and-down in coming weeks. Remember, the entire process is going to take two years so who knows what will happen between now and then. "Experts" were predicting if they voted to leave it could go as low as $1.15 but I'd be surprised if it drops below $1.20 this soon. Maybe long-term if they slip into recession, but I still reckon the hysteria surrounding the vote will cause a big over-reaction tomorrow and set a near-term bottom. Again, just my guess...
  15. I was originally going to post this in the Belle and Sebastian 12" box set thread, but since it has implications for all sorts of new releases I figured I'd start a topic for it. This isn't purely vinyl-related, but for those of you that haven't been following - it looks like the UK has voted to leave the European Union and its sent the GBP and (to a lesser extent) the Euro plummeting. In fact, the £ is currently at its lowest level since 1985!! Good news if you've been eyeing some UK imports, or something from amazon.co.uk. It's like a 10-15% off sale across the board. The aforementioned B&S box set, for example, is currently about $20 less than it would have been just 12 hours ago. (Of course, for our record-buying cousins across the Atlantic, all it does is make things from the US even more expensive...)
  16. Ok, what exactly does this blurb mean? Soooo... the records themselves are $50 if you pick them up in person, but jump to $65 if you want "free" delivery to Canada and $75 for "free" delivery outside of Canada? Maybe someone should explain to them what "free" means? Why not just say the thing costs $50 with $15 shipping to Canada and $25 elsewhere?
  17. "Vinylize It" just makes me think of this:
  18. I don't think this is as bad a release as some of you suggest. I agree the tracks themselves aren't difficult to find, but those original Jeepster pressings were lovely and I think they look great in a nice slipcase. The additional booklets and 'zine repros look nice, as well. They're obviously going after the "collector" market with this, what with the individual numbering and all, and as a collector's item it's not bad. The price is a little on the high end, especially factoring in overseas shipping, but the signed photo is also a nice touch that helps take off a little of the sting. I wouldn't buy it myself but I can see the appeal to a big B&S fan...
  19. Vinylize.it from the QRATES team looks like a bunch of QRAP.
  20. I got that feeling from the email as well. It read more like "Don't contact the band about this." than "We're sorry about the delay."
  21. If it tastes the same, it must be a copy of Siamese Dream.
  22. Seriously, does anyone get the "5 per customer" limit? Is that really a reasonable number, especially for things with pressings of 300-600 copies??
  23. If by "dirty hippy" you mean "cheese and onions," then Bob's your uncle.
