  1. Only found time to listen to the first two tracks so far and unfortunately, although properly centred, my copy is very noisy. Not surface noise, but pops/ticks and the blame for that lies squarely at URP's feet.
  2. I managed to get a copy of the vinyl and the dropbox card that comes with it, although it doesn't really identify them as such, offers two versions of the album. The first options are .mp3 but underneath them are 24/96 high resolution wave files. Joao did a really nice remastering job here just based on the 24/96 digital downloads, definitely retained the full dynamics found in the original release and there isn't any heavy-handed loudness wars mastering found on here. Looks like a great release all round. Only thing I'm concerned about is pressing @ United, their QC is pathetic. Hopefully my copy is nicely centered and quiet, if so then I'm sure everything else about it will be ace bananas.
  3. According to the guys running the Hayden FB page, the online store will only have copies available if any are left from the merchandise booths at the end of the EILF tour. This fact was pretty poorly advertised as I was refreshing the online web store page every minute on Friday! Sucks!
  4. The only differences are 6 Under, Spin and Post-Modern right? I can live with those changes to have a 45rpm cutting mastered from the original tapes. On the original press SIDE B runs around 28 mins, that's way too long!
  5. NO DOUBT! Love this flick, would absolutely pre-order a Blu-ray.
  6. Thanks for the heads up, just ordered this one. When I first looked I saw the LP listing only and the running time made my mind up for me that I'd steer clear, but 2LP and 45rpm is a different ballgame. 12, 13, 13 and 10 side times, hope it sounds fantastic. I'll comment back for sure.
  7. Main rack, from top to bottom: Goldring GR-2 turntable, Pioneer Elite BDP-62FD with Parasound Zphono behind it, Toshiba D-R410 DVD Recorder, JVC dual cassette deck (TD-W254), PlayStation 3 sitting on top of Orei BDP-M2 region free 3D Blu-ray player, Bell Satellite HD PVR sitting on Panamax M5100-PM Power Conditioner, Onkyo TX-NR3010 with an Antec AV Cooler on top to keep it running extremely cool to the touch. I've upgraded my main speakers from Paradigm Monitor 11v4s to Acoustic Energy AElite 3s, they cost over twice as much as the Paradigms but I got an incredible deal from them as the line had been discontinued a couple years ago, paid about 30% of MSRP, yes OF, not OFF. The smaller footprint has allowed me to install them further away from the wall and the bass response now is absolutely magic. All walls have sound insulation behind them, but definitely the new placement brought the bass to a new controlled, deep and precise level. I now no longer listen to CDs with the AVR's DSPs crossover engaged to include my sub (Paradigm Servo 15v2) but rather in PURE DIRECT mode like I do all vinyl. Here's a pic of the AElite 3s when I first brought them home and had them set-up as my zone2 speakers, before I moved them downstairs. (Grilles off for pic) More system pics here - http://www.blu-ray.com/community/gallery.php?member=dobyblue&folderid=8407
  8. Definitely a boot, most likely that label is Italian. Some online vendors sell bootlegs, I don't think there is a law preventing it as long as it's from a place where there aren't copyright laws like Italy. The old Kiss The Stone bootleg CD of this '94 Woodstock show is all you need, and you can easily find a way to acquire that digitally if you don't have it. It's a shame PWEI weren't still on the bill. I saw them on the Self Destruct Tour in August '94 and again in December '94, the December line-up was the same as yours and it was Maple Leaf Gardens, but the August show was in Barrie, ON, outdoors at Molson Park where they used to have this area's Lollapallooza stop - it was the only time NIN shared the same line-up as Soundgarden until that tour 20 years later in 2014. The line-up was You Am I, Marilyn Manson, Pop Will Eat Itself, Rev. Horton Heat, Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden. People started a mass exodus a few songs into Soundgarden's set, they were just nothing to look at or listen to after NIN's incredible performance. I wanted the SG show to be good, I've seen them several times since and the small club tour they did in 2013 was absolutely terrific, but that night NIN ruled all with PWEI a close second. I know TR was helping to promote MM, but PWEI would have been a far more enjoyable set.
  9. Ugh, can't believe I missed completely hearing about this. WOuld have been cool to see them include "Take" as a bonus track. Tickets all sold out anywhere near me too, blast! Hope I can get a copy online.
  10. Just a boot, Italian company most likely. As for the BOB, the repressing SHOULD best the original pressing as the BOB was cut by Kevin Gray...BUT it was also pressed at URP so likely you'd need to order several copies to find one with all four sides centred properly and quiet. Crapshoot for sure.
  11. I know the new version uses 16/44.1 files, can't imagine they'd have recorded to anything below 24/48 so even with KG cutting it's always held me off from buying this version of Futures. Can anyone with the newer KG-cut and older Western Tread compare? Did Ted Jensen just send out the CD-DA files? My Western Tread copy sounds very much just like the CD. When SRC say "Remastered from the highest quality 16/44.1khz recordings" it makes me wonder what Kevin was given in the first place to work with.
  12. I think the production holds up very well on TDS, especially once you've heard it in surround sound. Hard to go back when an album so layered, one that suits surround so well, gets such a well done 5.1 mix. Trent and JB really did this one perfectly. The sawing sound at the end of Closer, starts in the front right and sweeps counter clockwise around the room (works very well if you have good surround speakers capable of hitting 80Hz cleanly, I have floorstanding towers for rears), magnificent! I don't think The Fragile has been shelved, TR's last bit of info on it said he was deciding just how much effort to put into all the extra bits and pieces he's come across. Let me see if I can find exactly what he said... February 2014: Yeah, we've done a lot of the work for that. Really what it's come down to is with all the other stuff going on, the Fragile thing in particular, I want to make sure I get it right. You know, we've mixed everything in surround, it sounds amazing, we have a great package ready to go. I just stumbled across 40-or-so demos that are from that era that didn't turn into songs, that range from sound effects to full-fledge pieces of music, and I kind of feel like - something should happen with that. And I think it has something to do with that package, and I just need the bandwidth to kind of calmly think about it, and decide how much effort I want to devote into that and what to do with it. I have a lot of ideas that could eat up immense amounts of time and I'm trying to weigh out - just think it through. I don't want to pull the trigger on something and go, 'Man, I should have done it in this way.' And I just haven't had a chance to be in a calm place where I can think it through completely and make that decision. I hope it comes in a variety of packages. I'll buy whatever version I need to in order to get Alan Moulder's 5.1 mix, which I presume will be on a Blu-ray, and for sure will pick up the vinyl release as well.
  13. I would just about wet me boxers if AP announced these!
  14. Every RSD I hope we'll hear the Bernie cut of AEnima for Classic will be released by Tool. No friggin' way I can afford $400+ for a test pressing, but have thought about it a few times! My Classic cuts of Zeppelin and Peter Gabriel are so good.
  15. Found out a little info on the Seattle gig. Recorded live to 24/96, mixing and mastering done at 24/96, mastering done by Ed Brooks at RFI in Seattle. Will follow up if I can find out who cut the vinyl and where it's being pressed. Figure these things might be important to some wondering whether this is just CD quality cut to vinyl and so far it's looking good for vinyl fans. Call Me A Dog sounds so good just on the crappy YouTube cuts, can't wait to hear it properly.
  16. They're not $5 each if you're looking for the all analogue Bernie Grundman tube-cut directly from the analogue master tapes Classic Records reissues, the single sided Clarity 45rpm versions are usually $200-$500 and the single 33rpm versions are still around $120 or more. Although the product description tells us who did the mastering and who did the cutting, it does not state whether this project is staying in the analogue realm. If you have any of the incredible Classic pressings without any pressing defects or excessive noise, I'd hold onto them for now until you can do a side by side comparison. I did a shootout with four other friends who are serious about audio a couple years ago comparing the new 24-bit remaster of So with an original CD, the 2002 SACD, a 2002 33rpm pressing and the 2009 45rpm Clarity pressing, we compared "That Voice Again" and the Clarity was picked unanimously as the winner. I can still see my post on the Hoffman forums where I balked at the $50/each price tag in 2009 of the Clarity AAA pressings, I'm kicking myself to this day for not jumping on it. I eventually picked up II for $75 from Acoustic Sounds, then got super lucky finding III on eBay sealed for $79 from a seller that sells old stock from "The Music" and that one usually goes for $300+, then I also scored the first two discs of "So" from The Music when they were selling off single Clarity LPs that were there for replacements. So upset I missed getting III ~ Us all for $50/each. I have one LP of the 33rpm edition of "Us" and it's sublime. I have the regular 33rpm 200g AAA cuts of I, II, III and So as well as the 140g cut of IV. So good.
  17. Although I'm sure I'm in the minority, this is my fave Pixies album and I've never been too fond of the overall sonics on this one. I have the original CD and the new-ish 4AD vinyl. I ordered the MOFI a few months ago but only just this past week-end found the time to open it up - boy does it sound great!! Listened to it nice and cranked and it really delivers, buckets of dynamics, whisper quiet perfectly centred and flat pressing, nicely balanced from the lows to the highs.
  18. That's a shame about the dynamics because the remaster of Siamese Dream recently retained the original dynamics and the 24/96 and vinyl both sound excellent.
  19. I haven't but I'm happy to hear it, until the MOV came out I'd always wanted an original but the running time per side REALLY put me off, over 30 minutes on the one side I believe.
  20. Highly unlikely as it's listed as being "previously unreleased"
  21. R2T was a great release but it was neither remixed nor remastered for vinyl and the original source files were nowhere to be found. They used the CD for this one, cut to vinyl by Chris Bellman. That said it's the ONLY "studio" release in the catalogue whose CD master is already perfect for vinyl (other than not being high rez) so it's really not a big deal. The CD reissue fortunately also used the exact same mastering and added the bonus tracks at the end. This is where UTTAD most differs, because they're remastering the CD as well! That's very surprising, I'd definitely have expected them to just reissue it + bonus tracks. I wouldn't expect any of the studio albums to be remixed. It's great news that UTTAD is being done right, it IS being remastered from the original analogue tape and cut to vinyl all analogue by Chris Bellman, other than also doing a 45rpm 3 or 4LP version I can't think of anything they could have done to improve this. All sides are under 18 minutes due to the 3 bonus tracks coming as a download, terrific news. When they issue BTCS like this it will blow the pants off the original pressing, anyone who's still got their eye open for one should immediately halt that expensive search.
  22. Although the price was a bit high compared to Mother Love Bone which was more limited, I really like that Sound Stage allows me to request them open my LPs and ship the records outside the jackets. I forgot with Mother Love Bone to make the request and had wicked seam splits despite the excellent packaging. I didn't forget with Temple of the Dog!
  23. Just For A Day - $19.88 + $3.99 shipping = US$23.87 shipped http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0052LEH3S/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1383668929&sr=8-1&keywords=MOVLP354&condition=new Souvlaki - $19.70 + $3.99 shipping = US$23.69 shipped http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0058NXV4G/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1383669010&sr=8-1&keywords=MOVLP202&condition=new Pygmalion - $19.53 + $3.99 shipping = US$23.52 shipped http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B009SZK64S/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1383669062&sr=8-1&keywords=MOVLP604&condition=new Always search Amazon US with the MOVLPXXX number to find the right title. Those cheapest prices are all from seller "The_Connection" whom I've used a couple times, items always sealed in new condition as listed and shipped properly.
  24. The repressing of RATM's self-titled debut is amazing, using the original EU metals which were cut from Bob Ludwig's all analogue tape mastering, MOVLP043. Definitely not to be confused with their pressing of the awful XX Vlado Meller mastering which is just loud and crap. I ordered the black vinyl of Faith No More's Introduce Yourself and The Real Thing from Amazon UK shipped to USA and they sent me the limited yellow and EPIC green versions respectively for 14 pounds each, great deal and I've listened to both and they sound terrific. The other MOV titles I've ordered are Slowdive's "Just For A Day", Chris Whitley's "Living With the Law", Mother Love Bone purple, STP Core (black), TOTD purple (should have it this week), AiC's Unplugged (black), Dirt (orange) and JOF/SAP (orange/blue); the only one I haven't been impressed with is Alice in Chains' "Dirt" which is just too long for a single LP and they should have cut it over at least three sides like they're doing with Temple of the Dog. For those in the US who want to save some money and don't care about colored vinyl, keep an eye on the Amazon marketplace for the black vinyl when you search for the catalogue title. I have found usually much better deals from there than Amazon US. Also consider ordering the black vinyl from Amazon UK, you never know when you're going to get the colored one at the black price. The FNM titles at just over 14 pounds each after VAT was removed + shipping worked out to around US$26/each. Score. Granted Amazon US marketplace won't always be a better option, but right now for example STP's Purple (black vinyl) is $38.76 from Amazon and $20.38 (new + $3.99 shipping) in the marketplace, over $10 saved.
  25. Praying for the last two Soundgarden albums of the 90s to be cut all analogue by Bernie or Hoffman and pressed at Pallas or RTI or something like that, both spread lovingly over 2LPs of course. Hell, maybe even a deluxe 4LP 45rpm edition (as long as the 2LP 33rpm sets are also offered for those that don't like turning over the record twice as often - myself I'd go for the 45rpm). Picture discs literally suck balls. (I mean that using the newest definition of the word, and use it to highlight how stupid the new definition is)
