Watched Haunt on shudder last night. It shares a pretty typical story line of “college kids go to haunted house and crazy shit starts happening”. Buuuut it’s actually done really well. Recommended!

Ready or Not was a pretty big miss for me. It had it’s entertaining moments but overall a pretty easy pass.

I really liked it. They tied in about 5 separate stories into one main story line really well. Go check it out for sure.

Went out to the Portland Horror Film Fest last night. Got to meet Mick Garris which was super rad. And they premiered his new anthology horror film Nightmare Cinema which is fucking awesome. I think it’ll be out on shudder sometime in the near future. Reborn was also another feature film that was a really fun watch. Maybe 8 or 9 short films throughout the night. All for $18. Hell of a good night.

I can see what you mean, because I LOVED Lights and Motion at first - that dude can write some truly moving stuff. However, they are as annoyingly one-dimensional as I think I've ever come across. It's literally all the same, and for whatever reason his medium or approach gets annoying to me. I love the first couple releases, I think they're great. But fuck dude, please write ONE dark song. Just one. JUST ONE.
I'm not sure I agree with that being Pillars' approach.... I think they're just trying to write engaging, heavy post-rock that crushes on stage and they've done just that. You don't always have to reinvent the wheel. I'll give them props tho because this album is vastly more unique than the previous one, which has many, many sections where it's like "Okay this is the Gone in Bloom and Bough part", "here's the Not My Blood part", "here's the Some are White Light part" etc etc. I still love it, but that album has a lot of very very similar parts to other songs.
I know the allure too though because I did that with my death metal band - i copied riff stylings and song structures from Morbid Angel all the time.
As long as I keep you hooked on Elusive releases.... XD XD XD XD

I feel like bands like this are setting out to make “the most epic as possible” type records. And in turn makes many other things go untouched that really make a well balanced record.

All Hallows' Eve - Have to thank @The Butcha for mentioning this one. I assumed Terrifier was the first movie he directed. Anyway, it's mostly the last segment and the wrap around stuff that were great, but it's worth a watch just for that. The Art story in this is pretty savage and nasty, even more so than what was in Terrifier.
Starfish - Far from perfect, but I thought this was a pretty interesting movie. It's great visually and Virginia Gardener does a good job carrying it (it's pretty much just her). Probably a little too abstract for it's own good and has some pretty big unexpected shifts, makes it a little hard to follow. Definitely cool to see a newer director take some big swings, even if they don't always hit.
Hellraiser : Revelation - Easily the worst of the sequels. Oddly, it's also the most faithful in terms of working on the foundation of the original.
Dog Soldiers - This was really fun when it was soldier on werewolf action. Past that, I found myself getting a little bored with the plot.
Us - It's tough for me to get to the theater, so I missed this during it's run. I can say it was well worth the wait. Such a well crafted movie.
The Twilight Zone : Season 1 - My original thoughts on this still stand for the most part. Additionally, I noticed that the metaphors on some are so obvious that it's a bit insulting and in one episode, the narrator even spells it out at the end. On the plus side, the finale was really good and has me a bit more hopeful for the second season. I'd say that the first three episodes and the last were good to great and the rest were pretty sub-par.

The two newest episodes are so good. Some characters from the movie are in it plus Paul Reubens makes an appearance as his character from Buffy.

Watched All Hallows’ Eve on amazon prime video last night. From the same guy that did Terrifier. This is actually one of Art the clowns first appearances. Fun lil horror anthology flick.
