  1. For those curious, complete list of difference between the original and new press packaging: -Jacket is now lighter weight pocket instead of the heavyweight tip-on gatefold. -Back cover illustration has been scaled down a little, slightly improving the print quality. -Illustrations that were inside the gatefold are now on a printed inner sleeve. -Booklet was originally just a CD booklet, now is slightly larger with the "storybook" art on the front, a couple extra pages, a slightly different arrangement with some font differences etc, and most notably an "Elephant in the Dock" painting that I had not previously seen. This booklet seems like it may be an adaptation of the deluxe edition booklet, but I don't have the deluxe edition so I cannot confirm. -Vinyl center labels are different. -Obviously the vinyl color itself is different. I can upload photos later if people want to see. Honestly, the slightly nicer booklet is cool, but the jacket is a major disappointment compared to the super high quality original gatefold. Unless you're wanting the color variant, I'd say pass on this pressing if you already have the first.
  2. Never understood why we need "PO Soon?????" threads... Call me when a PO drops. Or, you know, they release any detail whatsoever about this.
  3. That's good to hear, I've honestly been a little worried about the upcoming show being an overhyped bummer. Just cause I know reunion tours can be weird. But very good to hear.
  4. As far as I know, the one in Winston is still open. Not sure what happened with them. They moved to a smaller location here a year or two ago and things seemed to go downhill for them. Shame, they always had great selection of new stuff and Horizon was a good balance with used and harder to find stuff.
  5. Well this was spooky to see on the front page. Ironically I've been in Greenville for 7 years and have only been in town for RSD once and only had time to go to Earshot when it was still around. Never been to Cabin Floor, only just now heard of it, I'll have to check it out. But now that Earshot is gone and Horizon is the primary store in the area, I'd say you should expect a pretty big crowd. My girlfriend went last year and said she got there about 10 minutes before open and there were maybe 40 people in line. That being said, I've been a couple times soon after RSD and they still have a pretty solid stock of the less limited exclusives. I was looking for 2 limited 7"s last year and found them both there after the fact. So if you're trying to nab some doorbuster releases, you're probably going to want to get there early, but if you're not the first one there you may not be out of luck. My recommendation would be to call and ask how many copies they'll have of whatever you're looking for. They're good folks, they'll help you out. There's 2 other places that sell records in town, Mr. K's and 2nd & Charles. They're both used book stores that have a limited amount of used/new vinyl and I doubt they'll have any RSD exclusives (there's a small chance 2nd&C might) but they will almost certainly have some sort of sale if you're just looking for deals.
  6. Sweet, thanks for the answer, I actually just received my shipping confirmation too. Good to hear early reports of sound quality, really looking forward to this.
  7. Super, super interesting, thanks for that link. You can hear so much more of the nuances in the guitar work.
  8. Well the main issue with the vinyl is it's paper thin and just horribly cut. Add to that that the production doesn't lend itself to quality and it is basically unlistenable. My main problems with the production/mixing/mastering is the overall lack of clarity, distortion on pretty much anything on the higher end, strong presence of bass guitar/bass drums that are more just a flood of low-end rather than being smooth or punchy, back layering of the rest of the drums with notable distortion, and the fact that the guitars get lost in the mix so often and almost always sound like they've been digitally compressed. When I say distortion, I mean downstream distortion, not upstream. The Chariot works because their sound is lo-fi, but their production is usually solid. I love The Fiancee but their are moments that do seem like they were post-distorted and those bum me out. Their newer albums were fantastic because they had native distortion but were recorded, edited and mastered with care. To me, The Blackest Beautiful doesn't sound raw and live, it sounds like a claustrophobic 64 kbps mp3. But again, stoked because the new single sounds like a more sensible split between TBB and FH production-wise. Just holding out to see if Epitaph cheaps out on the wax again.
  9. Did you guys ever get order confirmation emails or just shipping confirmation? The only thing I've received so far was the Paypal receipt.
  10. Song is on Spotify and accompanying video on . Decent enough. Production is back to normal, thank God. As for the pre-order, I refuse to give Epitaph any money until I know if this pressing is any better than the travesty that was The Blackest Beautiful. Worst pressing I own.
  11. They briefly addressed it shortly after release, if I remember correctly, saying something about a boombox aesthetic. Closest we got to a reissue was the really excellent Renditions series of alternate versions with guest vocalists and slightly more traditional production. , , and for those who missed it. Was really hoping for the whole album and a digital release, though.
  12. Waiting for the official release with great anticipation. Honestly more worried about the production/mixing/mastering on this song than the "sound" because Banshee turned me off last time but the album turned out to be my favorite of the year (aside from the tech aspects, which still bum me out every time I listen).
  13. That actually bums me out. Not that it's just a different verse, I'd be totally cool with that if it was an alternate version he'd had all along or something. Just bums me out that someone had the gall to tell them to write a version in a day for a fucking RSD release.
  14. Dude that is sexy. Some of the best display photos I've ever seen. If you don't mind me asking, what's your lighting setup? Also if you ever give up the game I would be happy to take an [A->B] off your hands.
  15. Thanks, been meaning to listen to more Sufjan for years.
  16. Got Mean Everything in my cart on the first try, had to refresh a number of times for Losing a Child, but snagged them both. Wasn't exactly planning on spending $50 today but I've been meaning to pick these up for years, so might as well.
  17. Can anyone post a photo of the red/black? Also can anyone who ordered from Amazon confirm what variant they received? If those have even shipped yet.
  18. Also, Define is sounding really solid 2 songs in. Not the cluster I was expecting, but also I haven't hit the inside tracks yet. Edit: Just finished the entirety of DtGL and am very pleased with the sound quality. Much better than I was anticipating.
  19. Just a heads up, I ordered from Hot Green months back and never heard a peep. Two months went by, tried contacting the dude via email, no response, ended up having to get a PayPal dispute to get my money back. They never got any response from him either.
  20. Hop Along "Get Disowned" Code: KFAMM5EW UPC: 648401022216 I nabbed a download of Hop Along's second LP on here last year and it got me hooked on this incredible band and now I own both their records. Hope this goes to someone who will perpetuate the cycle.
  21. For those curious about how the opaque dark blue turned out. Not my first choice for this album, but I still think it's a nice variant.
  22. Up for pre-order on Amazon for $17 for those interested.
  23. The artwork and red/black vinyl are tops. Probably going to wait for an Amazon pre-order since the red/black seems to be retail and I don't need anything else from TCR right now. Also, Deconstruct is good but I feel like these guys always end up releasing singles that are the most boring songs on the album. I remember being super bummed by the lead up to the last record, and then it ended up having several super awesome deep tracks on it.
