Same thing happened to me.  I even asked before buying and was assured it would be a vinyl record.  Pretty pissed.

This is my favorite album of all time, so I could write an essay to sell it to you, but in an effort to save everyone some time, I'll make this simple: buy it!

It's a bigger hastle to refund people than to just hold your orders until 4/29. That's probably what they will do.

You can't appreciate Good Apollo 1 until you hear SSTB and IKS and the callbacks to them on GA1. 
 
Also so how can you not listen to any of a band that you like's top three critically and fan aclaimed albums???

I ordered the Ryan Adams box set, the Lips box, the Clapton box, and the Day of the Dead box. Just received tracking numbers for all four of them, so they have all shipped. Boom. (No, I'm not the dealer who tried to order every item posted. Just an insane vinyl buyer. Seriously, I believe this is some kind of madness, but it's a madness I enjoy.)

That Indie Vinyl Den sale was very anticlimactic. It looks like they only had 1 copy of a lot of items.

Again, thats fine, but none of the cheap ones were in the united states already and Id have to pay shipping, etc.  I dont deal with international ebay.  You dont like the deal, I get it, now move along.

To each their own.  If you are selling records, just grade correctly and its really no big deal.  I dont order much on ebay, or online in general as it is.  The mail fucks stuff up more than anything.

What's the difference in how old it is? If it's graded NM, I would expect NM.
If it's old and beat up, grade it accordingly, and there will be no surprises.
 

crazy ass germans. but seriously, a VG+ grading for corner dings is accurate. if the kraut wasn't ok with a VG+ jacket, then he shouldn't have purchased a record listed with a VG+ jacket.

If it's something that got damaged during shipping, whether new or used, sure it's a bummer.  But if that's the worst thing that happened to me that day, it was a pretty good day.
If it's a used record that I bought online whose condition was misrepresented in order for the seller to get more money, yeah, I'll be kinda pissed off.  Again, if that's the worst thing, pretty good day.
Overall, it's the record itself that matters.  As long as I can listen to it, the sleeve doesn't matter.

It really depends on what my expectations are.
If I am buying a new record, or a record that states that it is near mint, then it better be perfect.  I like things perfect, and I don't mind paying a little extra to ensure it is perfect.  On the other hand, there are some records that I just want a copy of, and I will happily buy a non perfect copy, as long as I knew ahead of time and paid what I thought was acceptable value.  

I just picked up the upgraded denon dp300f from turntablelab.  Its my first new turntable, so we will see...
 
I know, I know, its an automatic, but that is a necessity in our house, and the denon seems like a great table otherwise.  

Of course, its definitely not always for the best, I never said as much. If anything, I think Modest Mouse is more of an exception. There are many bands that I used to love that have sucked for decades. That doesn't mean that bands should just continue to make music that sounds like their first few records just to appease fans. Maybe this is just where Issac is in his life, he is middle aged at this point. Either way, I appreciate the music.
