I came across this free app the other day. It allows you to type in any artist and it scours the internet for streamable mp3s (9/10 times it compiles the songs into the proper albums/track number) you can play instantly or add to playlists. So far I haven't had a problem finding bands but I haven't tried anything really obscure.
