  1. it's not new artwork, this is what i've always known to be Panopticon's cover. Even some 1st presses had it, and it was on the inside of the other cover art. It was also the cover art for the original CD release. https://www.discogs.com/Isis-Panopticon/release/377605 https://www.discogs.com/Isis-Panopticon/release/1021003
  2. THIS THIS THIS!!!!! I thought i was the only one! I fucking HATE that 2014 remaster of Oceanic. They made it way too clean, like it was made in a lab. I hate it so much. They took the balls out!!!
  3. I've got the MoFi Ultraphono and it seems to do very well. Black background, and really great transients with TONS of clarity in the vocal range. Very impressed. i'm running a Rega P6 with a Hana EL cart and KEF 550's with a Yamaha power amp.
  4. I'm spinning my black 180g ATEBTS right now and holy good christ, this thing sounds fucking amazing. So perfect. So clean. I wish they sprung for poly lined sleeves though, as it's a bit static-y but man. What an upgrade, with the vinyl remaster and a clean pressing. Wow.
  5. god i hope so. That and losing out on two Dunk! festivals hurts so much, especially given that Dunk moved their fucking location away from the forests and fields of Zottegem.
  6. haha yeah i mean fuck it, why not. Worst case is that it's the Holy Roar and you send it back for free. These have been going for like $60-80 on Discogs!
  7. did you listen to the last record? It's a pretty natural evolution from there, minus the egregious vocal shift. Lots of old school fans hate OCHL but I think it's their best and I'm not sure how others can think differently. Of course Sunbather is legendary, but OCHL is just so put-together and well done.
  8. the fuck? The band has never even posted about this. Ryan last told me they were still waiting on hearing about a repress. EDIT: just did a google search and apparently this place has the 2019 Triple Crown Remaster in stock. UPC codes match the discogs entry, no clue what color it is though as both of them have the same UPC code. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Holy-Fawn-Death-Spells-New-Vinyl-/362782828019
  9. Thanks, I went to their IG but didn't find anything like that. They're packing a lot in there, it will be awesome. if you can go, you should go. Just like DunkUSA. You never know if you'll get another one...
  10. Yeah, i'll be honest i like the S/T album the most because it's more unique and THEM, rather than "Hey look we made a Deafheaven album." I mean Plantgazer is often but it's so much exactly like Deafheaven at points it gets weird for me. Yeah no group buy this time. We got them through A1KA! The copies you'd get from VOTU now are only a bit more expensive, so I would just pull the trigger man. No sense in wasting your life without the music you love! Yeah they were gone basically instantly. I remember CJ posting about it.
  11. thanks for the heads up everyone. I suppose i'll try this Bandcamp black and see how the dice rolls haha
  12. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I can't really get any solid info anywhere. Bandcamp still has some black copies left, and I need this. I see a lot of Discogs comments about how atrocious the pressings are, so I'm hoping some of you can clarify which variants sound the best? I'm assuming the 2015 black repress discussed here is what is available via Bandcamp as well? Thanks guys
  13. Tahoe would be incredible..... that's one of their greatest jams ever IMO. I feel like 7/10/99 Chalkdust and 11/17/97 Ghost are easy bets too. You could fit them on one side!
  14. I have a lot of thoughts. 1) I think OCHL is their best album. Sunbather is, of course, the greatest. But OCHL is by far their most mature and developed album. It sounds confident, and easy. Completely in command. I can understand not liking it though, it's got a lot of happy parts. But that's because the band is happy now. That's good. You can always listen to the older aggro stuff. I'd prefer them to be clean, sober, and not dead or doing drugs. 2) Honeycomb is probably their best song, rivaled only by Dreamhouse. I agree with Derek. 3) This still sounds exactly like Deafheaven, just without metal parts. The chord changes and the way the melodies and bass lines are constructed, it's all classic Deafheaven. It's the same shit, just soft! That's cool. I like it. 4) The end of the song was too brief. They needed to milk that another 2 times around at least... it had plenty of momentum to build to a bigger peak. That's a rare poor songwriting choice on their end, IMO. I hope it makes more sense in context. The middle could have been pared down a little... i love it, and it's a great motif and jammy section but I felt like the middle is the longest part of the song and that's kind of weird. Cut that shorter to make the ending longer. 5) I am *VERY* skeptical that George can sing like this, live. I am reminded of Aaron Turner in the late-era ISIS material, where the studio allowed him to perfect his clean harmonies but he struggled to hit them on stage. His live clean singing is not his strong suit. I hope George can pull it off, but I am very, very skeptical. This. There are so many moments on that new SMAD where I am super weirded out because it sounds EXACTLY LIKE DEAFHEAVEN. Like, he sounds like George. It's fucking weird how actually alike they sound. If you want more old Deafheaven and you aren't listening to Show Me A Dinosaur, you're doing it wrong.
  15. I bought 5 for my small group..... i may have an extra spot if one of them doesn't claim the extra I presumed he would want. It brought it down A LOT. It was straight 14 pounds regardless of quantities.
  16. paying all those bands, I imagine. Junius and Pianos aren't cheap. Renting sound and lights isn't cheap either. Then you've got housing for all those bands.... It's probably on point if you consider the bigger fests spread that cost around a much larger number of people. I'd pay it but that's a weekend we're gonna have gigs. I hope it goes well because the post-rock kids deserve more festival/camping opportunities like this. If you've ever been to Dunk! you know how amazing it is. The jamband kids do it all the time, so there's no reason the post-rock scene can't either.

  18. Yeah, I'm very impressed with the vocal imaging. It's ridiculous. Everything else is fine/good. I think we need to fine tune the speaker placement still, but man... what a difference. I've definitely noticed that some albums still have surface noise, but others that were super noisy on the original setup are much, much improved. So weird how that happens. Does your DO Four Trees have this issue though?
  19. So, it's not just Moksha. My entire copy is scratched on the left channel for LP1. I stopped playing it because I'm not about to fuck with my $450 cartridge haha. I put on "The Quietest Place on Earth" by WLTS afterward to make sure nothing happened to my stylus that may have caused this, and i had just played that before we left for Hilton Head last Thursday. Of course, that played perfectly. This just sounds like trash. Which sucks because the master is really, really good - the music itself sound stellar, but the vinyl itself is fucked. Real shame. Honestly, just tell the band to pay the money and have them done at RTI. Flawless shit out of there. There has to be a label willing to take it on. Also not on topic, but those KEF's are real nice especially for things with vocals. Cult of Luna, Blankenberge, EF..... fuck. It's like they're sining literally feet away from you. Absolutely crazy.
  20. Finally getting through my repress copies. Done YATC and Four Trees so far. They sound fine, but the pressing's are not good. YATC is noisy as hell, and my Four Trees is scratched for the entire duration of Moksha. Sweet. Been waiting to play them on the new system so i can have an accurate representation of their quality. The music itself sounds great but as we expected, the pressings are dogshit. Should have known. Oh well. We tried.
  21. Just do it dude, I have to do this all the time for stuff. Incidentally, I literally just spun my copy last night for the first time. It sounds incredible. Just spend the money. Life is too short to not be listening to your favorite music.
  22. these will get fulfilled by Amazon right? some people were saying elsewhere that Dry Goods orders will come first and that Amazon and others may get left in the lurch.
  23. I'm with you there. I'm glad they're getting the hype, but the trip-hop/neoclassical thing just isn't my bag. They're very good, but I only really like that last song. However, that last song is fucking MASSIVE. I've seen the Godspeed thing too on all the boards - I think the new Godspeed album is awesome and I love it. I like it more than the Bruit album, but i need to go back a few times still. I have the debut EP and it's kinda just fine? I never listen to it, but i can't bring myself to part with the Elusive 1st Press collection haha
  24. if you guys haven't listened to the new A River Crossing, you need to do that. From the same label, When Waves Collide's new album has been getting a lot of play from me. Imagine Pray for Sound, Tides from Nebulah, and Toundra making a record together. Very good stuff with cool melody. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y03u1z7U0hE
