  1. I'll jump into the fray and say that those Tennis System albums did not move me at all. I don't get it. It's too... weird for me. I want my shoegaze to be relatively straightforward. That Grivo album is sick though, I loved it. Did not expect that at all. It's basically more of the Outlander style. Which, speaking of that Outlander style, here's one that you guys may like with much more vocal emphasis:
  2. i'd been enjoying their older albums once i heard the announcement of the new one. Forgot all about it, so thanks for the reminder haha
  3. good fucking luck on that Soup album. the band says no represses planned at all, for anything. I just had to shell out like $120 for fucking Remedies because I slept on it after their Dunk set when it was still in stock. "ehhhhh it'll be there for a while....." Nope.
  4. Word i hope mine comes soon then! Bundled with the new Maybeshewill. Didn't get any emails yet though.
  5. they completely changed vocal styles! I don't get it. Oh well.
  6. Mondaze was the band that got me into the "newgaze" trend now, actually. It seems to be 100% by-the-book, but i enjoy it. Here's another one that seems to be slipping by everyone (unless you all did it when it came out haha). My girlfriend loves this band, and I agree - they're great. New stuff is a radical departure in sound though, and not to my taste whatsoever.
  7. New/old Old Solar up for PO right now! Redux version of Quiet Prayers. I haven't heard the whole thing but my sources tell me is a big improvement over the original release. Added instrumentation 'n whatnot. https://www.athousandarms.com/collections/oldsolar
  8. word we'll have to link up and say hey! Trying to decide where to stay after Mogwai; we're crashing with friends in NH after Mono, and then driving down friday, but it's 90 mins, and not sure if that's the most practical decision to go back up there and stay and then come back again for Slow Crush saturday lol.
  9. that's why we have ear protection But even with them, when we first saw Mono and they broke into the wah pedal + overdrive boost peaks of Com? and such, the treble was still SO ridiculous. So ridiculous. I can't imagine anybody who didn't have protection getting out of there without damage.
  10. yeah it's gonna be a haul haha. Mono is playing this *TINY* awesome place in Portsmouth, NH called the 3S Artspace. It'll be like having them in my house. And then Mogwai at the Paradise which will be awesome, and Slow Crush at some other place in Boston. Can't wait.
  11. my girlfriend bought me everything from their Hello Merch store for my birthday lol. All the albums. I can't wait. Seeing them in Boston too! It will be quite a 3-day run for us: Mono thursday, Mogwai friday, Slow Crush saturday.
  12. I tried, and actually turned it off before it was over. Not a fan lol. Getting tickets for Boston though!
  13. oh yeah that's a good one too! I'll probably get it as well. The wallet has been hurting lately lol
  14. haha right on. Make sure you pick up more stuff from A Thousand Arms too! They have **SO** much required albums. Chief among them: Of The Vine - East the Water Pray For Sound - Everything Is Beautiful Kokomo - If Wolves Leech - Live 6/6/20 Sleepmakeswaves - Love of Cartography
  15. there will be, they always send copies to A Thousand Arms and Indie Merch.
  16. Checking in with CJ to see if A Thousand Arms will be getting these as well. Yeah, I really like "In Silence" and "Resistance" but i enjoy Oscillation. It's kind of the new MO of post-rock bands to go a little bit more keyboard/synth heavy and dancey like the new PG.Lost, Barrens, etc. I enjoy it but I prefer the old sound.
  17. loving the new Mondaze album and the vinyl variants are finally up on their Instagram! I have a few extra copies of the "cornetto" variant coming, $32ppd to anybody who wants one! It is the most limited (/150) and coming from Through Love records in Germany. Check it out here! (cornetto is the 4th picture) https://www.instagram.com/p/CY_qpJgtUO1/ EDIT: all gone
  18. new song is awesome. Wasn't sure how i'd feel with the clean vocals but it works. I think i'd probably prefer Johannes doing his thing, but this is awesome too.
  19. that looks exactly like the 1st press of "Wake/Lift" by Rosetta haha. Rainbow on coke bottle. edit: not available on either Church Road or QP websites
  20. i'm not sure i trust the Discogs history thing, because i've bought things that then didn't show up in that aggregation when i literally made that transaction there on Discogs haha. But who knows. I'll ping Jeff again soon... we talk about gear and whatnot, I'll pepper in a question about the status. They get bugged all the time about it, so I don't want to be 'that guy' but i mean, for fucks sake... they're leaving FUCK tons of money on the table by not doing it. Like, I can't even fathom. They could probably move 2,000 or more of each album. Anyway, yeah, thanks for the kind words. Fred went April 10, 2020 and then Doozer and Ethel both went this past summer. Had them since my early 20's. I'm 35 now. So it sucked hard. Along with 2 copies of Solace I also bought the entire Oceansize catalog minus Effloresce, which I already had. It was an expensive year lol.
  21. yeah, you're probably gonna have to spend a bit more haha. All my copies were $150 or more before shipping, and from Europe. I bought them as a coping mechanism for when my last childhood cats died within a month of each other last year, and I think i was in around $200 total for each. I didn't care about cost, I just needed them to help me. The band was supposed to do them before Covid hit, and intends to eventually get to it, so we may get lucky, but you're going to have to either wait it out, offer up more cash, or hope to get lucky on Discogs haha. Godspeed on your search friend.
  22. I'm not expecting them before March. Nothing is on any normal timescale now. I'm still waiting on stuff from March haha. its brutal
  23. doesn't always have to be groundbreaking to be good my friend! Sometimes the old family recipe, done right with quality ingredients, yields the most satisfying results I'm also not familiar with Tennis System. Where start?
