  1. The coloured vinyl has already come and gone on Fat's site. No word on the colour yet though.
  2. Yeah, the island was real. Flash sideways were the "waiting room". Penny being there was a bit different though. It's almost like it was Desmond who was ready to "let go" and had to convince everyone else to join him, Desmond's party. It's Jack's story though as his realization coincided with his death on the island/in real life. Jimmy Kimmel pointed out that the first words after the turbulance in the season opener were Rose telling Jack he can "let go now"...he was the one who needed to be convinced. Which is interesting because the last 2 season's arc was him rejecting science and logic and becoming a student of faith. One would have assumed that he would have been the easiest to convince. I am happy with this ending to the show, regardless of the religious overtones. The reason those others aren't at the Church is because they are, as Christian alluded, less important to Jack. Ben was obviously conscious with his decision not to enter the church and move on, perhaps because he had found a life with Rousseau and Alex and wanted to pursue this as opposed to moving on - to whatever that is. Rewatch it - knowing how it ends - Desmond's speech to Kate at the beginning really says it all. Enjoy it, there will never be another show like this.
  3. I'll be adding more when I dig them out. If you have any questions let me know. They have all been bagged and boarded. They were bought, read once, then stored in long boxes. The early 90s stuff is in good/vg condition, everything that is more recent is in NM. I've pretty much only dealt on Ebay - all records. My user name is sir-richard-richard. Make offers, I'm not looking to make a mint here, very willing to cut deals for big orders. 4. I bet it's because of the poster....I live Canada, I'm closer to California than Jersey! Oh well
  5. It was a pretty good line.... It was.... Today marks the third annual RSD where hundreds of independent record stores celebrate vinyl records. So get down to your local reco......(shocked) wait! what? what's that? Oh I'm sorry man, It's a Jamba Juice now.
  6. Actually, the cashiers were the hipsters in my case. They were bitching about holding records for people and giving general attitude/scowls. My outfit didn't help, I arrived from the gym and was wearing a Face to Face shirt and basketball shorts - clearly not who they wanted to sell all these records too. They commented on the guy behind me in line, they liked his scruffy "wolfish" beard. As far as pushing, I'm not sure what it was like at store opening but at 10:00am it was fairly dead, me and another guy. It was tense at the rack for a while (the stuff was showcased pretty well), we took turns, I took the last Rolling Stones 7" and he took the last John Lennon bag - my kindergarten teacher would have been proud.
  7. Didn't get the Bouncing Souls or HWM in Canada. Surprisingly, didn't see the Against Me either - but that should be easy enough to find. The other two are going to tough, that die-cut HWM sleeve looks awesome
  8. I picked up the Hold Steady LP - The sticker says clear, I haven't had a chance to open it yet though - I thought it was on black and the UK version was clear. Joe Strummer - Streetcore Elvis Costello 7" Bruce Springsteen 10" Rolling Stones 7" for a friend Julian Casablancas 7" Fucked Up 7" Passed on John Lennon singles bag and the Queens of the Stone Age - no sign of Them Crooked Vultures - good luck everyone else! Also, what record store in Saskatoon had the Hold Steady LP - the one upstairs on Broadway? Great day,
  9. Didn't Record Store Day used to be called Independent Record Store day? Since they have changed it though there are many more artists "participating" - diversifying revenue streams - which I suppose is why they are musicians, to earn a living. Nevermind, anyways.... The one Hot Topic I have been to didn't have nearly the diversity of any of my local record stores. Your Walmart comparison is accurate based on the fact they only stock a sampling of what's available (albeit Hot Topic is more genre specific.). Much like Mail Order, Hot Topic fills a void for people who don't have a decent local record store. Just because you are not a fan of Twilight and brightly coloured shirts doesn't mean that they can't provide a gateway to some great music. No one is born with a mohawk. Research leads kids to great music - how many of us are where we are because of Green Day and the Offspring? or Blink 182? or Fallout Boy? Hot Topic serves it's purpose, hating isn't going to help. That said, this is clearly an aggresive marketing strategy designed to lure people away from independent stores. Everyone's needs to make a living - the independent record store owner and the hot topic cashier/manager/warehouser - but it needs to be called like it is.
  10. It wasn't great, but it wasn't awful. +Sarah Palin TV channel +Teacher/Justin Bieber sketch (a bit long though) +Weekend Update (Devil, 102 year old student, there were some good lines) +/- I've heard worse musical guests and that song is stupidly catchy To be fair I still have about a half hour to go.
  11. It's great that when we don't hear about any problems we assume there are some. We have all been conditioned to expect delays and think that silence is someone ignoring the consumers. I suppose though, with all of the updates about the Blink 182 records in the last 6 months, some people would start to wonder.
  12. Well, in the last year they've had: Paint It Black - Surrender (Green Tour Edition) Lawrence Arms - Buttsweat and Tears (Purple Anniversary Show Edition) The Flatliners - Cynics (Yellow Tour Edition) Smoke Or Fire - Prehistoric Knife Fighte (Blue Tour Edition) They do a couple here and there, I may have missed some. Those were all 7". The Loved Ones was just an extra screen over the original cover right? That said, there's a first time for everything!
  13. Bret Hart's match with Vince was just uncomfortable. Long, limited action, and not intense enough. It's understandable but not what everyone was expecting after 12 years of build up. A better solution would have been to have Hart team up with the Dynasty and have Vince team up with McIntyre and another heel from the Money in the Bank (Dolph Zigler or someone), which would have made both matches infinitely better.
  14. Rolling Stone had this coming out in June. Their website now lists May as the release date - I wonder if this leak has bumped it up. It will be interesting to see how the songs translate live. They are playing smallish venues in April. The Town Ballroom in Buffalo on the 24th (last couple of related shows there have been NOFX and Bouncing Souls). I have a feeling they will still be the same band live. When I heard up the cuts live and then on CD it was like night and day.
  15. McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario - Hons. Political Science, Minor in European History 2002 Lakehead University in Thunder Bay - B.A. in Education 2003
  16. Wow dont get offended man. It was a JOKE. Jesus Christ there is some sensitive people on here these days. Take some midol and relax. Is this seriously what a joke has come to? The problem (one of many) with email/message boards is tone is impossible to detect. Reading that comment you have to take it at face value - the words have to speak for themselves. Your reaction to the reaction to your "joke" contains another shot that could be seen as sexist. So what if Epitaph or Fat Wreck press more records. Their goal is to sell enough records to continue as a record label to release more, pay the bands, and, yes, pay the employees of the company. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything. It only hurts the inherent monetary value of a record in terms of selling or trading (it's the same thing), which shouldn't be a problem unless you aren't listening to the music.
  17. Virtue actually works well as an ending. It builds with the vocals. It has an epic closing quality with the "I can't recall...." line. He also closes solo acoustic sets with it too, only walks away from the mic and enters the crowd for it.
  18. I wouldn't be surprised if there are/were extra golds not included in the 1910 red count. The later three square dance series records were significantly higher (over 1000 more), so it would make sense they would want to top up the number of Cashes out there.
  19. River City Ransom TecmoBowl Seconded - Passing Play 4 as the 49s - Montana to Rice at the top of the screen, good for a touchdown everytime. Mario 3 Base Wars - the source of 90% of the fights in my house growing up
  20. I'm sure this will get moved to the other one, but before it does.....I'm more surprised that the Arcade Fire's Wake Up was played during the commercial for the NFL draft - I would assume the licensing money is going to Partners In Health. Either that or they have had a profound ideological shift.
  21. NOFX - "Fuck The Kids" 7" (mailorder green) and Propagandhi "How to Clean a Couple of Things" 7" Later that year (1996) I picked up HOFX in a shop in Kingston in the UK, opened it up, had my mind blown and began a moderate collection. The quantites of which have ebbed and flowed throughout the past 15 years. I interpret the question to be first ever vinyl.
  22. NOFX only does regional tours....they usually hit Toronto every 3 years. We will probably have to wait until next year for them to hit the East Coast again. Of course, having lived in Saskatoon for a year - they need something to get them (and the rest of the MidWest) through the winter
