Along with the 3 O Sleeper albums, Stavesacre's 1999 classic Speakeasy will be up for preorder at 10 AM PST at Tooth and Nail. Some features of this release : Double gold and silver colored vinyl in a gatefold jacket. Fully remastered for vinyl audio including the Cure cover track 'Fascination Street' 4 - Speakeasy era tracks from the Collective release are present here as the D-Side Material A wax seal stamped hand assembled envelope, with personally curated photographs from Mark Salomon. A lot of work went into pulling this one off. I have personally heard the test pressing and as someone who adores this album, was completely blown away. It's going to be worth the money if you like this record. The cost to license this was RIDICULOUS, so just keep that in mind when the price shows up tomorrow. (I'm not 100% what that will be yet, but in the range of SF59 Gold)

Haste The Day - Burning Bridges

This is the first SS/T&N release to utilize the new vinyl guy. Going forward this will become the standard. I made a longer post about it in the Beloved Failure On thread, but the short of it is the poor mastering and general cheapness T&N has come to be know for should be getting phased out. -
PO(?) Beloved - Failure On repress

I can't comment directly on the sound of this particular release, but I do have a bit of info going forward. Tooth and Nail (Solid State) has begun to turn their vinyl production over to a new individual. There are a few things that were already mostly done before the switch (this, the first Chariot, SF59 Gold) so I would expect them to be mostly like what they have been putting out. BUT, by the end of the year there will be a number of reissues that will be done via the new process. There is some stuff that people have been asking for for a while, as well as a couple titles I personally never thought would happen, being pressed for the first time. What does that mean? - Expect MUCH improved vinyl mastering. ( I have heard the test pressing for one of these releases and it was stunningly clear) -Less bare bones packaging, reimagined art, more unique detail on any particular release -Less plain solid colors, more inventiveness in the vinyl colorways -I would also expect a little better marketing. Most of their stuff has just been dropped haphazardly when it comes in. I think they will hype a few things a bit more. -A lot more involvement from the bands; Forewards, special input on artwork etc. -Pricing may vary more on the new stuff a little more than it has. T&N is NOT making much on vinyl as they have to license virtually every catalog title. When they sell stuff @$10 I would bet that is breaking even or maybe even below cost. Depending on the inventiveness of the packaging, I would expect a few titles to cost more than $20. The only difference this time is the price should be worth it.- 28 replies

I think I can help. At one point I was going for the full Jimmy collection, but I almost never play any of these 7 inches anymore. Here's what I have: Sure and Certain 7" My Best Theory 7" Damage 7" JEW / Emery split (black) JEW / Jejune split (4th press cover, black, not even listed on Discogs) JEW / Jejune split (Blue cover, black vinyl) Pain / Shame Coke bottle Work / The Concept (blue, may want to keep this one) Futures coke bottle Mineral / JEW/ Sense Field 7" (Gray) JEW / Blueprint 7" (Truck Cover) Opener / Satellites 7" (White) Big Casino 7" JEW / Christie Front Drive Split 7" JEW / Taking Back Sunday Last Christmas 7" (1st Press green) The Middle 7" (Red) Sweetness 7" (Green) Bleed American 7" Salt Sweat Sugar (white) JEW / Jebediah Split (Clear) It would be easy to ship all of this at once so shoot me a PM?

Just got a catalog in the mail from them that has JAN1599 on it for 15% off a $99 order. Doesn't seem to be active just yet but it states it ends 2-28-15.

PO: Third Eye Blind boxset
ac3ebemo replied to toomanyrecords's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Just because their contemporaries on the radio were virtually adult alternative rock, doesn't mean they should be completely be thrown out with the bathwater. In my opinion the Cadogan (guitarist for S/T and Blue) albums transcend that whole genre. They had the hooks to sell singles and move millions of records, but their true value is held in the deeper stuff. Listen to the D-side tracks from S/T, or The Red Summer Sun, Darkness or Wounded from Blue and tell me that stuff isn't as good as anything that post-grunge alt rock put out. It's bursting with confidence and straight up rocking out swagger. Now in my opinion they lost a little on OOTV and Ursa, that while still good, they lacked the immediacy and really just the cohesive songcraft of the first two. But I'd put the first two up against anything from that era and I'm willing to bet many feel the same. -
This would be fantastic. Easily my favorite work of theirs.

Jimmy Eat World Clarity Reissue vs OG - thoughts?
ac3ebemo replied to Analog1's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
This is inaccurate. Both versions are double LP's. As others have stated above, the repress is done top notch except for the frustrating tracklist issues. Sound wise it's superior. -

I agree with this. I used to be dead set against SRC, but from a quality and even a customer service standpoint, they've been pretty good for while now. Can't speak to the various issues about contacting or not contacting bands they licence out from or old RJ stock or whatever, but what they are putting out is top notch and frankly a lot of stuff I'm really happy to have on vinyl. -

Jimmy Eat World - New Album "Damage" out June 11, 2013
ac3ebemo replied to futures's topic in Everything Else Message Board
I always felt like Invented has some of their best songs in their entire catalogue. 'The Heart is Heart to Find', 'Mixtape', and particularly 'Invented' (the song) I would put among the best things they've ever done. Then there were some others a step down from that and then some real filler crap on there too. Uneven, but at it's high points, still JEW at it's best.- 38 replies
