1. Really? Fuck them for what, running out of a record? It's not like they canceled the order because they threw it on eBay for $100. Go see the band live and buy it from them. Hell, buy 10 copies and sell them on eBay yourself.
2. I'm excited to announce that the living, breathing, physical manifestation of TIGHT PHANTOMZ' unbelievably fantastic double album SILK PRISON is coming out on Forge Again Records on November 20, 2012. It's a 2xLP, 36 songs, 90+ minutes in a stunning high-gloss gatefold jacket. Recorded and produced by the man himself Mike Lust at Phantom Manor over the course of the late 00s and mastered by Carl Saff. Includes a high quality download as well. The record release show will be (Black) Wednesday, November 21st at the Empty Bottle with BLOODIEST and E+. This 18x24 2 color silk-screened release show poster will be available for sale at the show. Artwork by Shawn Knight (Child Bite), screened at Progress of Design, limited to 45 hand-numbered/signed copies. There is a killer video for the first single "Waiting For", which you can view below: STREAM THE RECORD: http://forgeagainrecords.bandcamp.com"]http://forgeagainrecords.bandcamp.com ORDER THE RECORD: http://www.forgeagai...om/releases.php"]http://www.forgeagai...om/releases.php
3. Band was selling the 7"s and the "loser edition" whatever the hell that is last night in Chicago. I got the "loser edition" from Reckless a few weeks ago. Not sure what the difference is. But yeah, 7" was $5, I think LP was $10 or $12? Don't recall. But the band clearly has plenty of them. They were awesome (and I dig the record) but not sure how they blew up quite so fucking fast (well, ok, Pitchfork and Sub Pop....but that's fucked up how quickly it happens).
4. I will buy somebody's RANCID bat (provided it's a 33" bat) for $50 ppd. So there's your incentive to get the white vinyl one right there.
5. I get the impression these will be distributed elsewhere. No way 1000 mailorders went through at that price. The band doesn't even bring vinyl with them on the road, as near as I can tell. When I saw them a few months ago they had awful shirts and $15 CDs and nothing else.
6. Does it strike anybody else as odd that they'd put a barcode on a record that was only available via mailorder?
7. The copy I got from IVWT was purple. The swirls, if any, are just production variations. Nothing more.
8. Waiting on em still. They're in Michigan and not going anywhere so I'll have em eventually.
9. Maybe it was a DIY kickstarter where they didn't place the order until all 1000 were purchased.
10. Paypal and eBay are the same company now. Which makes it extra hilarious that both take fees and now eBay also charges fees on the shipping (wha???). It is your only viable option. Essentially, they're processing credit cards, which is going to cost you 3% anywhere. I'm sure Amazon charges a similar fee. If you have people use their BANK ACCOUNT or PAYPAL BALANCE (and not a credit card) as the funding source, and they trust you enough to actually send the records, have them send it as a PERSONAL PAYMENT and there won't be any fees whatsoever on either end.
11. Picture disc has the etched B-side too, if I remember correctly. Haven't busted my copy out in a long time because it's pretty much a novelty thing.
12. Unless this was pre-Nevermind or right around when it came out, this has to be a fabrication. Everybody knew this record was worth at least $50-100 back then, and that was before the internet even existed. Either that or you had a serious drug problem.
13. Uhh, 18 years ago Dookie came out. now THAT is fucking crazy.
14. Ordered from IVWT a while back. Will see what color them shits is on when it gets here. It's like $20 in stores. Brutal.
15. Not sure if this was mentioned but according to their Facebook page, the first two major label Superdrag albums look to be getting pressed, which is pretty tight. Supposedly by Side One Dummy...hopefully they're not retardedly expensive like the Smoking Popes LP.
16. Misinformation campaign designed to drive you all crazy, I'm sure. Could be distributor returns or whatever. No idea.
17. Ohhhhhh yeah, I remember that now. I remember listening to that record on tour with Fordirelifesake right after they recorded it and it wasn't even mastered yet. I remember that version being kind of annoying, actually. I really prefer the original version of Anatomy Of the Journey too Doubt anyone here would care if you posted it.
18. Nah I'll just post em on here and do direct paypal payments. That's too much work to put it up there and I wouldn't be able to control the stock, etc, so I'd get stuck refunding people. Haha. Probably gonna have some copies of that first 7" on Suicide Squeeze too. Will keep everyone posted. You'll hear it here first.
19. Hmm, it's possible that TJR got one of the handful of standard weight copies that did get out. I really don't remember at this point. What do you mean re-recorded version? They re-recorded a few songs for a digital-only EP before that last full length came out. Can't remember if that was on it.
20. What he said. Unless there's something I'm not seeing here. it looks like pretty standard stuff from GZ. For 1000 copies, no way it cost more than $4000 total. MAYBE $5000. No, 1000 is not very limited for a band like this. Not a real "vinyl" audience. I'd say they're more of a digital sales band anyway. As a result, I'd definitely say this isn't a very good "flippable" record. $27 initial investment and it's been up for months and nobody seems to care (at least not 1000 people at that price). If this was a $10-15 record, I could see it. But there stuff does not go for much in the second hand market....at least not much more than it was originally priced. If there were 300 or 500 of them...I could see it.
21. Will keep everyone posted when they are in hand. I think I'll have some of the original version on HWC/Friction as well as the later press on Sargent House.
22. $20 isn't too much for a single LP in standard packaging of a 10 year old album? "limited to 1000" = "cost less than $4 per copy to press" I really like Metric and I am not opposed to supporting them, but pretty hard to justify a 400% markup plus marked-up shipping on an album I already own on CD and can listen to whenever I want.
