  1. Weekly Deal (ends 10/9 at midnight): DEAL ENDED
  2. I missed out on IT when it was originally released. Over the next half year or so, I very politely and briefly messaged everyone on Discogs who publicly had it listed in their collection and I messaged every seller who wanted $200 for it. I got a lot of surprisingly nice messages back from fellow Dr. Dog fans wishing me luck which was really nice and, eventually, I found a seller who sold it to me for $70, half of his asking price. So, keep trying as you have been! Also, this is such a roundabout way of acquiring one, but take a look at the rest of PIAPTK's catalogue. If you're not already a frequent customer, becoming one has perks like access to occasional test pressings and vault items. I'm fairly certain the label owner sold some copies of an IT test press and he was asking people to provide proof of their Dr. Dog love as part of the buying process. Good luck!
  3. Added some cool stuff. NEW/SEALED: Worriers - Imaginary Life LP Brick Mower - Teenage Graceland LP Screaming Females - Ugly LP The Lookouts - Spy Rock Road LP RVIVR - RVIVR LP Nude Beach - 77 LP Nuclear Santa Claust - Order of the New Age LP Big Eyes - Hard Life LP For Science - Revenge for Hire LP USED: Eluvium - Life Through Bombardment Vol. 2 (7xLP box set) Liz Phair/Girly-Sound - Sooty (from the Guyville box set) LP Check the Google doc link in the original post for details on each item.
  4. I ended up receiving both my Bandcamp and Shopify orders and both had really gnarly lip warps.
  5. Discogs reviews can be helpful, as legitimately bad pressings will likely receive negative comments, however, people will also complain about certain releases that actually sound OK/fine. You can usually tell when a user is being objective about a pressing's faults and when they're letting out some steam using colorful exaggeration. As noted above, you don't really know whether a pressing sounds good to you unless you hear it yourself.
  6. Unrelated but I realized I misplaced my El Ten Eleven record somewhere in a random box or shelf cubby and I hadn't even opened it yet. Do you know which variant subscribers got?
  7. $80 for the 2 tickets to tonight's show (10/1). PM me, if interested. Thanks!
  8. During the worst depression period of my life, I was watching Joey Votto in his prime batting in a game during a playoff hunt for my Cincinnati Reds and I remember watching thinking "This means zero to me. A few months ago, this would be fun and exciting and I'd enjoy this but I am not getting anything from this at all." I think people's tastes do cement and also change, which can make finding new music or enjoying old music tough, but I do think it's worth acknowledging how much our enjoyment of dumb/important stuff like music, art, sports, friends, etc. can be affected by our brain chemistry. But to answer your question, I might recommend maybe going back in time and looking up bands you've always heard of but never dove into. There might be something more grounding about that then auditioning new bands that have no history or cultural context. Totally my own tastes being projected here but try finding the non-awful 80s rock bands that you might have missed. We think we know them based off the singles but Talking Heads and R.E.M. have a ton of delightful songs that go beyond the big hits. There were a ton of less popular power pop bands in the 80s that are worth discovering (try looking up Numero's 80s pop rock comps). There was also a ton of cool pre-new wave electronic stuff all over the world in the 80s that never got well known (Medical Records has reissued a bunch of cool stuff from that era). Get lost in the catalogue of a prolific artist like MF Doom/DOOM/King Geedorah/etc. or Phil Elvrum/Mount Eerie/Microphones and read up on Wikipedia about all their different projects and pseudonyms. I hope some of this helps a tiny bit.
  9. Weekly Deal (ends 10/2 at midnight): DEAL ENDED
  10. The limited advanced copies for PIAPTK super fans are gone, so I think it's OK to post a direct link now. http://piaptk.limitedrun.com/products/627181-dr-dog-oh-my-christmas-tree-100-upcycled-record I've been chasing after the tree shaped vinyl version of this for years. Super stoked to finally own a physical copy on a weird laser disc lathe with handmade covers. I'm hoping I get the Father of the Bridge one.
  11. Dang. I just bought like 6 records from them a few days ago. Might have to dive back in and see what's been restocked.
  12. Some whims are so strong, you can order, receive, list, pack, and ship out a record and barely remember any of it.
  13. Acknowledging how terrible it could have been really does elevate Everything Will Be Alright in the End and the white album a bit. They're both decent, dumb fun albums that become good/noteworthy Weezer albums because everything else recent is so awful.
  14. I'm guessing they will probably pop back in here in the winter when it's time to register for their 2019 vinyl subscription. I know something happened earlier this year where they had behind the scenes issues with a manufacturer who dropped the ball and an employee who had to be fired and they went quiet for a few weeks but, at least via email, their customer support seems back to normal the last few months. I don't know their reasons for charging high shipping but I do know that, when I've sold records to international buyers, I've opted to only ship via a tracked method and it's like $22 to ship a single 7". Is it possible they are choosing to use a shipping option that does cost as high as they charge? Or do people already know that and they are saying Topshelf should use the non-tracked, cheaper options or work out an international distro to lower costs, etc etc?
  15. What Dan said above. They open subscriptions for a while each year. Follow them on Twitter or check their site every so often.
  16. I went to Amoeba LA to pick this up expecting an easy get-in-and-get-out experience but I walked around the vinyl section 2-3 times before I realized they had actually sold out of this. They either ordered a small amount or this Low record has a little bit of heat with the vinyl kids.
  17. Sold a few items, so check the list again. Added a new/sealed copy of Ben Kweller's Sha Sha LP (Record Store Day version) for $20.
  18. Weekly Deal (ends 9/25 at midnight): DEAL ENDED
  19. I'm a subscriber of the Asian Man Record Club so I am assuming I'm getting this. If so, I'm pumped.
  20. I watched the Venom trailer that's on the Trailers app on Apple TV and neither my wife nor I could understand a single thing Venom said despite the TV being at normal volume.
  21. Just added a new/sealed copy of the National's Boxer (Vinyl Me Please Edition), another Joyful Noise White Label LP from Chad Popples, the new Yo La Tengo/Oneida split 7", and a discounted/used copy of one of the new Thou EPs. Sold a bunch over the weekend, as well, so check the list for updated inventory. PM me to make an order. Weekly deal ends Tuesday at midnight.
