  1. 7 brand new CDs, 2 used CDs, 2 7" records, a poster, 4 random download cards, and a handful of random bonus swag for $28 shipped. I'd say this buyer got a pretty good deal! Put together your own crazy box of records and CDs for mad cheap (lots of free items if you spend over $20+).
  2. I was gonna play it cool and wait a while but on Friday afternoon I felt the spoilers coming so I caved and went Friday night. The local Arclight was playing it every 15 minutes until 2am and they offer assigned/selected seating so it was too tempting not to just snag 2 tickets and get it over with. I loved it and am stoked for the next films to leak more details on what to expect in part 2.
  3. I wish I could remember the magazine/site but the lack of excitement on Abandoned Mansion came from the band themselves. I think it was Eric Slick being interviewed and he said their recording and release method, and even the name they chose, made the album feel like a b-sides record for people and he didn't necessarily disagree. I like AM a lot personally but I do view it as kind of a loose collection of songs rather than a strong studio record. Although this new one does sound like standard Dr. Dog, it really was an effort by them to re-group and re-focus. I think they succeeded–not based on this being some wild new era for them but by the songs being tighter and having more accessible production. I'd have loved to hear what the best of B-Room, Abandoned Mansion, and Swamp sound like with this kind of production.
  4. All I have are silly, well-constructed jokes that poke fun at our own self-limiting constructs about masculinity which often fuel these kinds of confrontational vibes. If that isn't enough to make all of us laugh at ourselves for a second and become best friends, I am out of ideas here.
  5. Confirmed that that's why the sequencing is different. Their keyboardist replied to a comment on Instagram saying that they submitted the track listing for the vinyl production process then, later, had a change of heart and changed the sequence for all mediums afterward. IMO, the vinyl track listing is better. I don't like all the familiar pre-release tracks stacked at the top and there's something nice about the record starting by "coming out of the darkness" on a bright note and then ending with an energetic, rowdier song about "going down fighting". Yeah. I love Dr. Dog but they have slowly gotten so deep into Dr. Dog over the last few records that they've lost some accessibility outside of hardcore fans, IMO. Based on one of the interviews last week, I think they reached a breaking point (or had a realization) when they recorded Abandoned Mansion, sat on it for a year plus, and then when they went back to release it, they realized they didn't really dig it very much. Having a producer to guide them a bit helps them stay focused on making good rock/pop/folk/jammy songs instead of making very Dr. Dog-y Dr. Dog songs, if that makes sense. My anecdotal experience is that I've tried convincing indie rock loving friends to give them a shot for the last 6-7 years and they haven't been able to get into their records (outside a handful of songs) but I've had friends tell me they really dig this album.
  6. What if my hobby is piling on VC users who are naive enough to express misguided and/or genuine feelings online? And what if it doesn't give me the same satisfaction that it once did? Should I quit the hobby?
  7. I'm always disappointed when these online VC beefs don't end with both dudes locking eyes and going in for the kiss.
  8. I dig your username vibe. Mine is @recordsaredumb.
  9. They were cut from the published article but his comments about how Taylor Swift vinyl represses will "fill the existential hole inside each of us" and "never let us down or hurt us, like humans are guaranteed to do" have me really excited to buy these for $30+ each.

  11. ^ The code is good for $50 maximum in savings. An FYI for anyone trying to apply it to a huge box set or huge order.
  12. Watching seasons 2-4 in real time was a special thing. It was my favorite show for that whole stretch. It morphed into something slightly different past that though and I wouldn't begrudge anyone who grew up watching seasons 5-9 and aren't fans of the show it became.
  13. No joke. Crying is dope. I wish I could cry more often, even if it was over a damaged record.
  14. I think some labels (or maybe the plants they use) have shitty quality control when it comes to storage and shipping too. Hard to believe that certain labels always get warped from LA heat while others have a much less frequent warp rate. If I'm getting a record from Joyful Noise, and I love their label, there's a 75% chance it's warped.
  15. Collecting vinyl sucks and is a huge hassle so if you aren't getting much out of it, stopping is the right move. I also live in Los Angeles and maybe 30% or more of records I get have at least some kind of warp. I've become kind of numb to them, unless they are really gnarly or cause skips. Corner bends and seal splits are pretty rare though. If I cared every time there was a cosmetic defect on a record or a hint of surface noise, I'd go insane because it's pretty common for me.
  16. Unfiltered thoughts that echo from a deep pool of fear rarely make sense.
  17. Lol. I know, I know. I am definitely over sensitive after reading some of the vaporwave reddit threads. If you received a shipping notification or you got a reply from Todd, you were either called a liar/plant or used as ammunition in the rightful war against Todd. I posted a few times naively and then slowly backed away and deleted my innocuous posts not wanting to get dragged into it.
  18. Yeah. I PM'd his username to @DecayToDeath because, as realistic as I am about him probably not sending me replacements, I do not want anyone to message him and be like "YOU RESPONDED TO THIS ONE GUY ON VC 5 WEEKS AGO, YOU BASTARD. RESPOND TO ME!" and throw me under the bus and on to his troll list. If anyone messages him, be as nice or angry as you want, but pls don't include me or this thread in any angry rants at him.
  19. PM'd you. Anyone interested, you can also just search the vaporwave reddit and see his posts from 4-5 weeks ago and message him there. But, as I said, he hasn't logged into that account in a while it seems. Edit: Or click the link above.
  20. I placed the order on 2/27, got the shipping notification on 3/7, and he actually dropped it off at the post office on 3/16.
  21. I placed two orders (one BandCamp and one Shopify) and he shipped out both but they both arrived warped to high heavens. I messaged him about replacements on Reddit and he was super responsive and nice and said he'd send out replacements. That was 4-5 weeks ago and it looks like he hasn't logged into that account since the day I talked to him. As far as I know, I won't get replacements, so I'm just keeping my copies in between a few glass sheets and hoping they flatten out a little over the next few weeks.
  22. How do we know this isn't actually a paper on young male depression manifested through online aggression? ARE YOU TRYING TO USE US UNDER FALSE PRETENSES?!
  23. For RSD, all I want is someone to make and compile a dedicated thread for RSD online sales.
  24. I lowered the price thresholds for free stuff, so it's easier to get a free CD, 7" and 12" with each order. PM me to make a purchase! Thanks!
