  1. I picked up the Lost River box and new JJ tv comp LP. I did think it was weird that all the posters and clothing were missing. The shop links on the homepage also were not pointing to the shop.
  2. I've only spun this in full once but it might be my favorite BH record behind Bloom. On first listen, it feels like they put a little extra effort into incorporating small flourishes that are outside of the traditional BH mold. Overall, it's still BH but I can definitely see the fingerprints of those comments about this being outside of their comfort zone/usual sound. Good rec.
  3. Welp. VMP found a way to get me to give them money thanks to the MF Doom exclusives.
  4. For some reason, this post made me think of that band The Fold, which I don't think were ever on Rise, and that made me think of the late 90s pop punk band Showoff and then I learned Showoff reunited and released their 2nd album and, first in 18 years, last year. What a wild ride.
  5. For some reason, Teen Dream is my Beach House "pop" album I just can't get into. Bloom is the record that got me back on board and confirmed BH as one of my favorites. I always viewed it as more textured, rhythmic, groovy, and weighty than Teen Dream.
  6. It's tough to kick a band when they're down when, apparently, that band is actually doing great.
  7. Not sure if they still do this or if it's a case by case thing but, a few years ago, I got a trashed store copy via their online site and I requested a clean/non-decimated replacement from their warehouse/distributor and the UO customer service person on the phone made it happen.
  8. Not to kill the fun but that *might* be me poking fun at the early references to laws being broken.
  9. They won't even come on here and fight us! Their disinterest in confrontation is f***ing insufferable and why I can't f***ing stomach posting there!
  10. Not for me, as all I need is a little plastic circle, but it seems some people are into the kind of personal labor that goes into these. Congrats on getting the pledges you've received so far.
  11. Lol. There are definitely different posting styles between VMP and VC. Both have their upsides and downsides and I think it depends what downsides you prefer to tolerate. I'm too soft to rage into threads and come at people (or have people come at me) so I definitely spend more time tolerating the downsides of VMP.
  12. I post there more than I do here, so I am definitely a part of the VMP forums but I don't wade into the member specific stuff much. Outside of certain threads which encourage certain behaviors, it's a pretty enjoyable place to discuss movies, music, vinyl, sports, etc. They go hard after the staff and company but, overall, they're pretty nice to each other. People don't get in flame wars with each other and very few people do the hardcore tough guy stuff. The extreme stuff, which is pretty accurately reflected in the post you're quoting, is more sweet, innocent, silly passion stuff than hate-speech-ish, aggressive, toxicity stuff, the latter of which is more cringe-worthy to me personally.
  13. Same here. I also can't imagine paying $30 for a record that is easily available for $15 and that I didn't necessarily choose. This goes beyond our imaginations.
  14. That's on VMP. A big part of their sales pitch is hyping up details like that and setting the expectation. If a significant part of your marketing focuses on tip-on jackets and gatefold artwork and liner notes and the lifestyle experience, your customers are going to perceive that as a significant part of the value. Meanwhile, when you and I buy records from listings that are just a digital proof of the LP cover and no other details other than vinyl color or weight, we're happy with whatever comes as long as it is in new condition, plays, and sounds good. The healthy vinyl lifestyle, IMO.
  15. They're a passionate bunch with high expectations and they get very hurt when those expectations aren't met. I'd feel worse for the VMP company and staff if they weren't raking in fat stacks of cash from the people accusing them of personal affronts. If I spent $300+ a month with them, it'd probably feel more personal for me too.
  16. I'm assuming he did but I don't think it's the reason he is leaking fluid and breaking down.
  17. First episode was weirdly workman-like and in motion for a premiere and the final shot didn't really WOW me more than it made me think "Hmm. I guess that's what they'll be explaining this season." It was entertaining though and a nice calm/practical way to handle the insanity of the finale. Second episode was kind of a bummer. Seeing hosts in the "real world" in flash backs was interesting but the whole sleazy, cut-throat wealthy stuff is not appealing for me. It was cool last season when William was our entry point into that element and bucked against it but sleazy William in sleazy elite business world is kind of a blue on blue nothing for me. And all the park stuff felt like they were showing the middle section without the set up or the pay offs. Third episode was really fun. Glad the introduction to a new park was handled pretty well. It was more interesting to see Delores conflicted between executing her poetically over-described domination plan and taking care of her family. I think the more Bernard in this season, the better for me. He is hiding some stuff up his sleeve but he seems to be the grounding character that reflects a little bit of the viewer's POV/reaction. Overall, I hope they do something cool with Ed Harris. The maze last year was a big macguffin which I think worked OK but it'd be nice to see him get a little bit of bitter-sweet satisfaction a la that moment when he gets shot at the party and smiles. Despite not feeling the 2nd episode so much, I'm pumped to see what happens throughout the season.
  18. FREE shipping on all orders over $25 until Friday 5/11!
  19. It sounds like they're hoping you'll believe them and leave them alone. I imagine that customer service tactic works sometimes, otherwise they're wasting both parties' time stalling before issuing the refund/replacement.
  20. Yikes. Priority is like $8-10 for 1 LP but not offering Media Mail or offering discounted shipping on a $30 record is dumb. If you want this and also want a shirt or another of their records, I'd recommend it since it knocks shipping down to $8.
  21. Goddamn. This and Ozma's Rock and Roll Part 3 were my "will they ever press this on vinyl?" translucent whales. I bought it along with Candy Coated Fury and a shirt and the shipping was $7.90 Priority which is below what Priority costs for that weight level. What did you get charged for just the record?
  22. That's a bummer. We had two 4-5 year old kids in our row that showed up in original, homemade super hero costumes, complete with eye masks and capes, which was very cool. Of course, they whispered the name of each character as they appeared ("It's Loki" "The Hulk!") but that was more cute and funny than annoying. Also, a younger guy behind us fell asleep and started snoring but his friend kept bumping him and everyone was just laughing at him. Haha. I definitely got lucky and it was the fun/funny kind of crowded/noisy.
