  1. Thanks for posting this. The cost is about $6 less and, as you said, it's nice to get those Bullmoose customer points.
  2. Have you listened to Lost Wisdom? Both songs from the upcoming LP remind me of that record a lot. Lost Wisdom had a more lo-fi production and the twangy guitar additions from Fred Squire and backup vocals from Julie Dioron but the straight-forward lyrics and simple structure feel very similar. That is my favorite Mount Eerie LP so I'm really looking forward to A Crow.
  3. Sufjan's Carrie and Lowell was incredibly depressing but I actually played it quite a bit and it gave me a quasi-opposite effect of feeling better/happier/more "in touch" with the dark side of existence. I'm hoping this does the same. Lost Wisdom, another slow/sad record from Phil, is my favorite ME album, as well.
  4. Thank you for sharing this. It was incredibly sad to read about Genevieve's condition and passing and I'm glad that Phil was able to express himself with a new album. Bought.
  5. I did something similar. I built a wooden cabinet and lined it with sound dampening board, drilled a hole for the hose, and then added several breathing spaces to prevent overheating. I use the same function with the power strip to turn the vac on and off. Despite being built shoddily by a novice, the cabinet helps tremendously with the sound and also gives me a nice large surface to clean the records on. I think I spent close to $80 on materials (wood, sound board, screws, latch, braces, caster wheels, etc).
  6. I had to try about 15 times before it allowed me to checkout. Keep trying if you're seeing the sold out notice.
  7. Yeah. I had to learn by emailing their customer support after an order. Pass on the info if you come across people discussing JN releases or VIP subs.
  8. My fiancé is marching in downtown LA while I'm in an airplane. So far, it's been peaceful and there have been a ton of people participating. Very cool.
  9. I lucked out and got one of the mixed color copies. This record is a bit different from IT or Scott's other Dr. Dog b-sides in that it digs deep into the country sound and stays there mostly, which they mention in the description. It's very good though. I could listen to Scott's voice and melodies in any genre. You guys who were lucky enough to order a copy are going to be very happy.
  10. I'd recommend Freakbeat Records in Sherman Oaks, CA and Atomic Records in Burbank, CA. Both are great stores for rock records and they are slightly off the beaten Los Angeles record shop path.
  11. I'm at @surfacenoisepod on Instagram. Just pictures of records I'm playing/recently bought and plugs for whenever I release a new podcast episode. There would be more cat pics but I keep my records hidden from her, so the tiny terror only makes very brief and disparate appearances.
  12. I haven't read through this whole thread but it's definitely an interesting one. I think it's important to remember that many people read and digest these online threads, not just the most vocal participants, so, they are great opportunities to re-enforce the ideas and kinds of political conversations that you/we want to see. Specifically, if there isn't a respectful or productive way to respond to a particular comment, sometimes the best response is to shift things back to a more productive place. That said, I've been really happy with how my friends and personal circle have responded to the outcome of the election. One electoral-college-decided election doesn't wipe away all the people who are out there who have the absurd instinct to advocate for and support those that are different or less fortunate than themselves, just how Obama winning two elections doesn't wipe away all the people who are still struggling, upset, and don't have convenient ways to express their situations. It's definitely complicated and there are challenges ahead but we will keep moving forward and providing color to a country that has been painted in very simplistic black and white frameworks recently. Take care of yourselves and don't get bogged down in the muck, if you can help it.
  13. Here is what I got. Singles already mentioned: Non-mentioned so far: *Bands I've heard before.
  14. Still not sure if you were asking about shipping or sale date but, just in case (and to others curious), I just got shipping notification for this.
  15. My fave TP episodes are a mix of odd atmosphere, supernatural elements, and amplified character/story archetypes; I think having strong characters with clear points of view makes the weird abstract sequences more satisfying. If I don't know who Dale Cooper is, I don't care that a guy is walking in and out of a maze of red-curtained rooms for eternity. Fire Walk With Me was a bit too much of the first two (odd atmosphere, supernatural elements) and not enough of the story telling. The soundtrack for the film is on par (if not better) than the series though. Stoked for season 3.
  16. Do you mean when will it ship? Not sure. If you meant when will it be available to buy, it already was posted for sale and sold out.
  17. $68 for 4 LPs will be your best bet. If copies of this are put on eBay/Discogs, you'll be lucky to get it for under $70 just for the 1 LP. You could try selling the extra LPs to other members or on Discogs to recoup some money.
  18. I checked a moment ago and the solo LP was available. There might be some confusion going on with people adding items to carts and abandoning them. Glad you're able to get a copy either way.
  19. I was not very lucky with the two 10 LP grab bags I have tried in the past but I still ordered one of these 7" grab bags. I hope to find some cool stuff when it arrives on Tuesday.
  20. I'm glad that the mailing list went out not too soon after, as people were being told to wait for that as their official sign that the order page was live. Hopefully, as many copies as possible end up in the hands of Dr. Dog/Scott/PIAPTK fans. 10% or more of the copies of his last LP "IT" ended up on eBay and Discogs for $100+. I was lucky to get a marked up copy for *only* $60. Anyway, all parties involved with this are awesome. I hope you all get one.
  21. Was this already shared via the PIAPTK mailing list? I saw it went live too around 11:45am but I wasn't sure if the Dr. Dog and PIAPTK fans were alerted as well so I was holding off on sharing.
  22. What is the flexi monthly club? Edit: I googled! Looks like there is no word on a 2017 flexi series. So, this year, they have the regular monthly VIP sub, the VIP + 7" sub, and the white label series. And then, for hardcore JN fans, there is the JNR100 which gives you everything. Doesn't seem too overwhelming yet, IMO.
