I think we are kind of on the same page.

the collective model would be kind of a hybrid of collector and reseller.

Investors would have the opportunity to purchase records before any are sold. Any records they want are deducted from their investment amount.

once the investors have bought, the rest are sold off until everyone getting their initial investment back. Once that happens all the records are split up and the investor has the opportunity to keep or reinvest their allotment.

I like this idea. Google spreadsheet of what's available. Let people who bought in bid against each other (using their buy in money) for tests they want to keep. Then we'd sell whatever's leftover. This could take time, but we could divvy up any profits every ~4 months or so. I'd be happy to throw some $$ in and do some of the selling/shipping. Also agree with @smailtronicmaybe we should take this to a group PM with those who have said they were interested.

I know many of the delays are beyond the control of Smartpunk, but could the communication possibly have been worse through this whole thing? Every email says “everything should be here this week” or “the last piece has shipped” until the next “update” says something completely contradictory. I know I will be happy I ordered when this arrives, but from the beginning when the initial pressing numbers went missing from the site and limited variants became unlimited, this whole thing has been a debacle.
Sorry, rant over. And I know it can be worse, I lost money too during the whole TOYPAJ MTS ordeal, I just feel this could have been handled more professionally when a significant amount of people have funded this pressing with a not insignificant amount of money.

I had this conversation with them on twitter. Told them that the people waiting for the record don't appreciate email subjects like "Smartpunk learns to email good" with an LTJ update buried in 4 paragraphs of smartpunk shit and that we just want a "LTJ Order Update" email with 1 paragraph about when to expect records.

I sent them a couple examples like OWTH Live album. Should send them the Descendents Suffrage update from KRM.

  3. So I have a Technics SU-G90 receiver that has the issue where the left speakers go out. It seems to be caused by the heat sinks getting hot and de soldering.

I would have no idea how to resolder but I have a friend willing to give it a shot.

In the case that it doesn't work or he destroys my unit does anyone want to take a peek on craigslist or FB marketplace and recommend me a replacement? I'd be looking to spend ~$50. I'm running a Technics 1200 with Kef Q15 6 ohm speakers.

Guess that means more waiting time  then

And based on them getting "some" at a time, the bigger the package you ordered the longer you're going to be waiting. Had a long discussion with them yesterday basically asking why it's so hard for them to send an email with the subject "Less Than Jake Updates" to tell everyone what's going on rather than posting cryptic shit on twitter and buring half updates in 4 paragraphs of newsletter with the subject "smartpunk learns to email good"

  5. Color your own variant is delayed a week.

    Hi all!

You're getting the following email because you ordered a copy of PUP's This Place Sucks Ass Color Your Own LP.

Due to a delay in manufacturing of the "color your own" LPs, these will ship out a week after street date.
Please note we are doing everything in our power to get them out to you as soon as manufacturing is complete! Please keep an eye on your inbox for your shipping confirmation.

Also, please please please keep in mind that all shipping carriers are expercining an overwhelming number of packages due to Covid issues. Please do not be alarmed by shipping delays, or lack of label scans from carriers. We are seeing this across the board, and is unfortunately a common occurrence. International orders are experiencing an even higher volume of delay.

If you have any concerns with the delay, please visit, and fill out a customer service form here:

Thank you again for your order, and your understanding of the situation!

    Sincerely,

My point exactly. Pretty sure most of Fat's stuff is through Pirate's Press, and almost everything LTJ have put out in recent years has been pressed by them as well.

What I'm saying is that while these records are pressed in Europe, it's up to the individual label how they get to the US AKA whether or not they're going to pay the exorbitant prices to have them flown over, but also where they end up in the US. Fat's stuff gets shipped to LA and then trucked to SF. That's a shorter trip than if Smartpunk's stuff ends up in LA and has to get trucked to Orlando, or faster if they fly it from there.

They have, yes. But the times have been way off. Albeit, I did receive a confirmation after. 2 weeks of publicly posting that they were shipping.

They've been better about this. So many people ha e been in limbo for so long.

We're in the middle of a pandemic. Do you think when they sent these records to be pressed they knew that there were going to be no flights from Europe to the US? Do you think GZ is pressing records at full capacity? I'm sure Fat also is working packing up records with a smaller crew to be safe. And it's NOFX. It's probably 2 dudes in a warehouse packing up 10,000 records. Any of their other bands it's probably 1,000 and takes them a few days.

Not too surprising those ended up being first to arrive. Most of FAT's euro variants have been showing up almost a month (or more)  before the US versions. I ended up ordering the UK versions too, so I'll get a chuckle if they arrive to me in the US before SP gets the US variants.

Most of Fat's records are pressed in Europe and because of the decrease in flights between Europe and the US they're being shipped from Europe to the US by boat and then on a truck to Fat from the port. The situation would potentially be different for every label though I think most go through Pirates Press/GZ.

No order confirmation email, saw an order confirmed page after I placed the order, got charged and then later got an email for the digital download of the single so seems fine.

Came for the same thing. See it on my credit card, but no email. One color is sold out now. So hopefully my order for both went through.

Got an order confirmation randomly like a week later
