oojavaguru reacted to jrodan in PO: Remember Two Things - Dave Matthews Band
i just talked to carter beauford (he and i are childhood friends) and he said they are pressing two million copies. i thought that seemed like a bit much, but he insists that is the perfect amount for die hard DMB fans. he said they have already sold 500,000 pre-release and he feels once they release their new album and build some traction again, the other 1.5 million copies will sell.

oojavaguru got a reaction from unknown pleasures in PO: Blues Traveler 1st 4 Albums (Colored 750 copies or 180g Black 250 copies)
I disagree with that. Thanks to this board, I've discovered and expanded my musical tastes more than I ever would have had I been on just a band specific messageboard. This forum is vinylcollective and I don't think it really slants one way (metal vs. punk vs. pop) over another. i'd like to think it is all encompassing and welcoming to any and all music tastes.
With regards to Blues Traveler, it's not like they are making 40000 copies. 1 release was a promo only domestic release, 2 of the releases haven't even been on vinyl before (per Discogs), with another being only available overseas. I am sure there are more than 1000 people who see Blues Traveler at shows that might pick this up for nostalgia sake (maybe a couple met at a HORDE show...who knows). I don't think this is milking fans or anything, it is giving legacy Blues Travelers fans to add to their vinyl collection and a chance for those who may want to discover their music an opportunity to do so.

Nashville vinyl records maker key to Jack White's fastest single expands
Amid a vinyl records resurgence, one of the nation's leading vinyl record makers, United Record Pressing LLC, is expanding operations into a second location to try and meet demand. The Nashville-based record maker paid $5.5 million for a 142,000-square-foot warehouse site on Allied Drive off Nolensville Pike where it plans to add 16 presses and storage space.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that nobody could build/make new pressing machines....that most of the plants keep their machines up and running by using parts from legacy, broken down machines.
Can new machines be built or did URP find some old ones they plan to refurbish?
